lisa6191 Posted October 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2023 We just got off the Encore where we enjoyed the complimentary shore excursion to Ephesus for the orchestra concert at night. Are there other ports with similar free excursions/events? I’m not really sure how to search for that info. Thanks!

We have never taken a Caribbean cruise (and probably never will) but I have seen many photos of a signature SB event on those cruises. I THINK it is called Caviar on the Beach, but it is more than that--it includes a meal served on the beach. Is it lobster?

There is definitely lots of seafood including BBQ lobster tails on the menu. It also includes some water sports like banana boats and kayaks included. Things like massages by local ladies are extra so take some US dollars if you don't have local cash. Dunnedg Posted October 16, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2023 Have done the Ko Kood caviar in the surf. It was fantastic.
lisa6191 Posted October 16, 2023 Author #6 Share Posted October 16, 2023 Thanks. Caviar in the surf does sound cool, but going to Ephesus at night after it’s closed and enjoying a chamber music concert on the spot where Cleopatra met Mark Antony was next level. I wonder if they do anything like that anywhere else.
Dunnedg Posted October 16, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2023 We were fortunate to do the Ephesus trip also. It was indeed something special.

busyfamily94010 Posted October 16, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 16, 2023 I was planning on taking the excursion to Ephesus - I'm on the 11/12-11/19 cruise from Istanbul to Athens. I assume this evening event is when they dock in Kusadasi rather than Cesme (which is 90 minutes from Ephesus.)
lincslady Posted October 16, 2023 #10 Share Posted October 16, 2023 Yes, Kusadasi.

That is a paid short excursion, at least a few years ago. The concert at night in Ephesus is an inclusive signature event.
Dunnedg Posted October 16, 2023 #12 Share Posted October 16, 2023 If you have never visited Ephesus, you should certainly visit during the day. One of the best historical sites I have ever visited. Whilst the included trip at night is worth taking, it is dark and you will not see very much.

We did a private tour during the day and then went back for the night thing. Absolutely fascinating..
babydrum Posted October 19, 2023 #15 Share Posted October 19, 2023 My upcoming cruise in May includes an Ephesus port stop. I've been in the day before (man was it hot!). I will definitely take the night tour if offered. Might do the day tour again too.
lincslady Posted October 19, 2023 #16 Share Posted October 19, 2023 Yes, one port where it is really worth making an effort.
tsukino70 Posted October 20, 2023 #17 Share Posted October 20, 2023 Several years ago Seabourn had a "Caviar and Champagne" event in the desert after visiting Petra. I'm not sure if they still do it but that was the most amazing experience we've had on Seabourn.
