Hi All...

We did a Journeys cruise several years ago... I don't know how, but it was available to us for a "free" cruise offer (not a casino deal).  Inside room for Port charges and fees only.  We upgraded to a balcony for about $1000 more.  10 nights.. from Galveston to San Juan... with stops in Grand Caymen, Aruba, Bonaire, Granada, Martinique and St Maarten.  Fabulous!   In addition to the rare port stops... several on board "retro" experiences.  Throw back events (think horse racing on the lido, midnight buffet, and meet and greet with ships officers).

Great cruises from Carnival!

Cheers...

Gusman

The cruisers on them are generally older and experienced cruisers. The vast majority can speak three sentences in a row without the "F" word. We've never seen anyone falling down drunk on a Journey cruise. So, totally different than most Carnival cruises. We love them.

Journeys is simply the name Carnival has placed on longer cruises. The actual cruise experience will be basically the same except usually with far fewer children. With any cruise that's longer than 7 days from the home port you'll find fewer families onboard and generally a more mature audience. Mainly because most families plan vacations in 1 week increments, especially when it comes to cruises. Other than having fewer children, and perhaps being a little more mellow onboard, it will be the same Carnival experience you've come to expect.

Journey cruises are the only way we sail on Carnival. The crowd is older and more subdued but it still has a fun atmosphere. Since the cruises are longer, you don’t get the typical crowd you see on the normal Carnival Cruises.

We did the 15 day cruise on the Venezia as well on Sept 29th and had a good time.

One negative is that since it’s more of a older crowd, there are a lot more scooters and slower walkers who suddenly just stop and look around. Also the buffet lines on the Venezia are slow due to the buffet line design and the slower people. Get to the shows early as the seats fill up in the theater quickly. The view points in this theater are very poor unless you sit on the lower level and the middle. Every where else your view is obstructed some way.

I've been on six Journeys cruises in the past several years.  I've enjoyed them all, even a little more than my ordinary Carnival cruises.  I have another one coming up in January.

I don't have much to add to what others have said - they tend to attract older, more experienced cruisers (both on Carnival and in general).  There are some special activities on board.

Here's an entry from the Small World department... I think we were on the same cruise.  Here's the itinerary from January 2016:

There was no special offer for me, except maybe a reduced single tax.  It cost me about $1100 (including fees) for a basic interior in steerage.

Let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we?  Perhaps @wsurrette2424 will remember these things and perhaps @1MKS1128 will find similar things on their Journeys cruise:

The biggest difference I noticed besides what icft said was no priority boarding because there are usually a very high number of Diamond and Platinum and it can be impossible to find a machine or table in the casino if you gamble but we have done several and have 3 more booked because we love them
