Uber/Lyft/Taxi availability at Cape Liberty

We usually drive to the cruise port.  Parking for a longer cruise is getting expensive at $30 a day.

 

How easy is it to get an Uber or Lyft or Taxi from the cruise port to a local hotel?

We ended a cruise this past October in Cape Liberty and found transportation easy to get as we exited the terminal.

Uber/Lyft are easy-- start checking the app before you disembark (in case its like 30+ minutes which it usually isn't). Fairly easy to time pickup. 

 

Taxis in that part of New Jersey are awful and I would highly advise against using them.

We used the private car option at the taxi line over the shuttle they offered to EWR. Worked out quick and easy for us.

We have used Uber-arranged service on multiple occasions, not hailing a car until we're clear of immigration and customs, and not having to wait long (perhaps 15 to 20 minutes). We use the service to get to the train station in Bayonne, and each time the fare has been around ten dollars.

Uber is easier than taxi at Cape Liberty. After passing facial recognition, exit left. Once outside, you are in pick up zone 7 for car services (other than taxi).

 

The pick up zone extends from zone 6 (to your left upon exiting) to zone 10 (to your right). Last cruise, I was lucky as Uber arrived 5-7 minutes after booking from outside the terminal.

 

All taxi service on disembarkation is located in a parking lot, not in front of the terminal as for car services.

 

For taxi, exit the terminal to the right. When outside, go left towards the road. Use the 2 painted crosswalks to reach the parking lot from where cabs are dispatched.
