Cruise760 Posted January 7 #1 Share Posted January 7 We have booked a 14 day Carnival Journeys cruise. I have a question. Do they just repeat the 7 day menu in the MDR on these longer cruises, or do they have additional menus that they use on day 8-14?

They may repeat a certain dish here and there, but the menus are different every night.
Linda the Book Lover Posted January 8 #4 Share Posted January 8 Are breakfast and lunch available on port days on a journey cruise? I am not a fan of the buffet and hoped the longer cruise might offer meals in the dining room. I am trying to decide about the transatlantic from Barcelona to US. In scanning my newsletters from my last Journeys cruise in January 2020, I found that breakfast in the MDR was always available on port days. The times varied depending on when we were due in port. There was NO lunch served in the MDR on port days. BTW, I know you didn't ask, but on sea days, the ship switched between brunch and breakfast/lunch in the MDR.

I don't know about lunch. A Journeys cruise with a lot of port stops might be different from a transatlantic, which I have never been on. Even if there is no lunch in the MDR, there will be lunch the other venues besides the buffet (Cucina del Capitano, Guys, etc.)

Thanks I appreciate the information as we are still in the deciding stage for 2025.

On the other Carnival ships I sailed, I enjoyed lunch in the Italian restaurant and other venues. I have to admit the older I get (in my 70's) the lazier I have become as far as sitting down and being served...😂

janetmojo Posted March 23 #10 Share Posted March 23 We are booked on a 14 night Journey's Cruise in Greenland in late May and it's a ship that doesn't have many dining venues so I am hoping there is lunch in the dining room as I'm not a big buffet person. EllieinNJ Posted March 24 #11 Share Posted March 24 We were just on the 12 day Journey cruise on Venezia. Breakfast only on port days and some days breakfast only and some days brunch on Sea days.
staceyglow Posted March 24 #12 Share Posted March 24 I have had lunch in the MDR relatively recently on a Journeys cruise. But it was only on one or two of the sea days. They had brunch the other sea days. If your ship has a Cucina del Capitano, there will be a sit down lunch there

I just got off an 11-day Venezia cruise (not technically a Journeys cruise), and here was the breakfast/lunch situation on the 5 sea days: On 4 of the sea days, Sea Day Brunch was offered. No separate breakfast was offered in an MDR. On one sea day, breakfast was offered in one of the MDRs and there was a separate lunch menu after breakfast was done. It was Mexican-themed. On all 5 sea days, the other MDR offered a lunch menu that I thought was a full step up from what they typically offer for lunch at a Cucina del Capitano. It had 3 salads/soups, about 5 pastas (including a really delicious spaghetti carbonara), and two dessert selections. We at lunch there 3 of the 5 sea days.
