Crown Grill Question (Caribbean Princess)

Hi. I apologize if these questions have been answered numberous times; however, my search is turning up nothing.

Our cruise is two weeks away. We'll be on the Caribbean Princess and there are five of us. Two cabins, one with two people and one with three people. Four people have the Premier package and each has $200.00 in credits, one has the Standard package (our third person in the second cabin) with no credits.

  1. If we go to a specialty restaurant, can one of us use our credits to pay for the person who has no credits?
  2. Can anyone tell me if Crown Grill has tables for more than four people? We have five in our group and I can't seem to make a reservation for five, only four.

Thanks!

Yes, they seat at a table for 4 and add a chair at one end.  Np.

If you’re talking about OBC’s, you can just tell them you are paying for the guest and they will charge your account.  IF you’re talking about SD credits from a premier beverage package, that I have not tried to do.

I would call the dineline from your room, once OB and reserve the table for 5.  Or, you can also stop by the venue on embarkation day to book it.  Tell them if you wish to pay for one of the guests.

On my booking, it shows 200.00 as Miscellaneous for myself and my friend. There's also 50.00 OBC for each of us. I'm guessing the 200.00 is from the Premier package? I'm not sure.

I have a related question.  I am traveling on the Caribbean Princess in June, with four others who are in a suite.  I'm not in a suite.  I booked a table for 5 in the Crown Grill on embarkation day.  Specialty restaurants are included at no charge for suite guests.  My credit card was charged $39 for my reservation even though I have substantial OBC.  I'm not sure if this is because final payment has not been made.

Does anyone know if, after final payment, I can use my OBC to pay for my meal and get the $39 credited back to my card?  Would I have to cancel my existing reservation  and make a new reservation?

OBC can only be used in advance to book and pay for excursions. Nothing else. It's OBC - for use On Board.  Yes, some other lines allow you to use it for all sorts of things in advance - Princess does not..

If you want to use your OBC to pay for your specialty dining, you'll need to book aboard. Embarkation night is usually absolutely no problem to get a table (or join your friends).

Where does the $200 show up?

Premier Package specialty dining credits do not show up as miscellaneous $$$.

They're listed as specialty dining on your travel summary - and the price is most definitely not $200. More like $78 or so pp.

It's likely OBC from your travel agent or a booking promo of some kind.

You can use your OBC to pay for someone else's specialty dinner. Just tell the wait staff at the restaurant when you get there.

As for booking for 5, both groups need to book their time at the same time to secure space. And voila, they'll put you at a table for 5.. (adding a chair for the 5th).

We had 9 for dinner at CG on CB in November, one large round table.. no problem at all. We just all booked the same time on the app and voila, done.. we were also all had our bookings linked together.

Go ahead and make reservations for 4.  When you get onboard, add the fifth person. I, once was added at the door.

it is an accounting issue if you are trying to use complimentary dining for a different use.  Depending on who you talk to, “favors” may be rarely granted.

Yes, now that I think of it, both my sister and I had a casino offer. It's a free cruise through the casino in our state and we each got one, which is why we have two cabins. Thanks!

@CTGirl74, A passenger with Premier can use one of their SD credits to cover someone without any credits. Example, I have a friend with Premier package, traveling with a friend in a separate cabin with no package. Friend 1 can take friend 2 to a SD using both of his credits. @MoreyCreek, suggest u cancel your CG reservation and just add yourself with suite guests for embarkation CG dinner which you will be able to use your OBC to cover.

FYI, as of Dec 1, 2023, Specialty and Casual dining will incur a 18% service charge in addition to whatever the cover charge.

Thank you @wallyj and others.  I have the Plus package but am considering upgrading to Premier once I get onboard for the additional wi-fi (four devices instead of one).  That would give me two SD as well.  I will cancel my reservation for now.
