Titanic Exc in Halifax

Recommended Posts

Is the exc worth it or should we go to the grave yard and museums on our own ? It's 84.00 pp from royal no idea what a taxi cost back and forth if any one has done it any help.

Remember that if you do it on your own, you pay in cad ( 30 pourcent discount right there ).

.

The museum is about a 10 min walk

Admission is about $15 cad per person

.

Sorry, don't remember where graveyard is, but remember I walk there, no issue

As a former Haligonian, I'd estimate that the walk from your cruise ship to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is no more than 10 minutes along the scenic Halifax waterfront. (https://maritimemuseum.novascotia.ca) Mind you, you will probably take longer as you stop to admire the sites along the way.

After leaving the museum, I'd recommend continuing your walk along the boardwalk until you reach The Historic Properties. There you will find a (new-to-me) Titanic & Iceberg Exhibit that might be of interest. (https://www.titanichalifax.ca) Then grab a taxi or an Uber to take you to the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, a ride of under 15 minutes. This is the main Titanic cemetery. (https://www.your-nova-scotia-holiday.com/titanic-cemeteries.html)

A DIY excursion will be less expensive and will allow you the freedom to spend your time doing and seeing what interests you . There's no need to follow a timetable set by the excursion.

We did it on our own.  There’s a big red bus by the terminal that you can take around the cemetery and city.  It’s one of those on and off.  We got off on one of the casino and later got on a bus to the pier.

The hop on hop off in Halifax is the only city I know that the charge only through the ship.

I asked a few times and they do not have a price in cad that is lower

Halifax is a very easy port to do on your own. I'd say it's a little more than 10 minutes to the museum but it's an easy walk and you can't get lost. Just head right off of the ship, which is where the majority of the crowd will be walking.

If you go left off the ship, after a little walk through the working port area, there is a very nice park to explore that overlooks the water. That's free and has an audio tour of landmarks as you explore.

Last time in Halifax we were disappointed with the museum but that was seven years ago, bus was very easy leaves you off at the cemetery and across the street coming back. The museum and the cemetery was what we wanted to see and the bus gave us a feel for  the city, times like this we like to take our time and savor the history.

A fantastic excursion in Halifax is a bike tour. With only a moderate level of difficulty for most we saw much of the city, the gardens, cemetery and city architecture. Walking around after made this one of our favorite ports.
