Sitka

The Sitka National Historical Park (which the locals call the "totem pole" park) is easily walkable from the Harrigan Centennial Center.  The HCC is where the shuttles from the port drop off folks.  Nice visitor's center at the park, and the walk through the park is lovely.  If you are interested in the park there really isn't any need to take a tour (unless someone in your party has mobility issues).

Hello again, has anybody taken in Sitka, the National historical park & raptor center? Have been to the raptor center before. Thanks.

So glad you asked.  I have been reading about Sitka and it looks like a lovely port to stop at, but the sailings there are definitely limited.

it is a pleasant stroll along the waterfront  to the Totem/Nat Historical  Park, and if you spend time there, a stroll around town can be easily done afterwards. Doing these will fill a good part of the day.

We think Sitka is one of the most scenic Alaskan towns to arrive into, with many waterside  homes with their seaplane and boat docks, tiny islands and a volcano in the background.
