Anyone ever stayed at Chilworth Manor and used their cruise and park option. Have stayed at hotel before so no issues just wondered where the car is left and did transfers work OK.

I'm trying it for the first time in April/May.

I’m trying it in September for first time - for the return they told me you are given some of reference before you leave the hotel so you can  book your taxi back to hotel from the port.

A pretty good and attractive low-rise hotel set in woodland on the edge of the city, very peaceful but with caveats.

You need to know where you're going or have GPS which recognises that hotel

Entering the city from the end of the  M3 spur, you have to go all the way round the roundabout before taking a left at the gas station onto the A27 Romsey exit, then immediately take the right lane which leads you over the spur that you've just driven, and the hotel is signed on your left.

Although the M27 passes very close there's no convenient junction, it's a rather mazy route from the junctions on either side.

It's remote from local facilities - no pubs, restaurants, shops, sights etc  in walking distance - just that gas station. And the city centre, cruise terminals etc are 4 1/2 miles away.

Nearest rail stations and National Express stops are a long taxi-ride away.

Altho it's surrounded (at a distance) by the motorway system the noise isn't noticeable indoors and outside it's muffled by embankments and trees

So all-in-all not ideal for visitors without their own vehicle, but a worthy choice for those travelling in their own car seeking just a quiet night or perhaps reclusive foreign visitors arriving by private transfer.

We have stayed twice - first time just an overnight pre cruise as we had booked with CPS. Second time we opted for the stay/parking for 12 nights last June. Worked well for us - had dinner, b&b, parking and transfer - cost effective compared to hotel and CPS especially during the summer months.  Transfer was seamless for us, hotel called for taxi at agreed time and on disembarkation we called the given number on collecting our luggage and taxi was waiting for us outside. Transfer is about 15 mins dependent on traffic.  Comfortable room and food ok. There is a pub that does food within walking distance but for one night it suited our needs. There is also a swimming pool/leisure centre within the grounds which we used prior to our checkout at 12. A good option which we will be using again in July.  The car was parked to the rear of the hotel, a bit dusty on our return but seemed perfectly safe. We had no issue with road noise during our stay as hotel is set in its own grounds  and we managed to find it ok.

The Chilworth Arms is a mile and a quarter, about 25 minutes.

Have I missed somewhere?

If not, then mebbe I'm a bit too old and unfit to walk that distance. And especially the walk back 😏
