We have been Cruising with RCI since 1987. Regardless, it was free on other lines too.

To me, nickel and diming is more about stuff I have to pay for, not optional ones. 
 

btw, we have been cruising since 2001, and don’t remember free popcorn. Lucky you that you did.

I just completed 30th cruise with RCI ... since 2003 and I do not think I remember popcorn. )))

I agree with all the others. It's an option, so buy it you want it.., or don't if you think it's too expensive. You do have a choice.

They may not want kids to just get it and play with it. Stuff that people buy is treated differently.
