vetteguy91 Posted February 22 #1 Share Posted February 22 I stumbled on this offer available to all active, retired and veteran military personnel. Simply fill out the form and in about three days $100 OBC will be deposited in your account. It looks like it can be done either during booking or after the fact as I did. This is not a scam, I verified it with my TA prior to completing the form. https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/us/cruise-deals/community-appreciation-cruise-offers/military-appreciation-offer
Rare Haljo1935 Posted February 22 #2 Share Posted February 22 It is not a scam - HAL offers OBC to military. We use it each cruise.

Do you need to apply for the credit with each cruise (like the stockholders) or will this automatically be applied once we've been approved (as long as HAL continues to offer)? Thanks
gizmodog Posted February 22 #4 Share Posted February 22 If you have a casino rate though they give you a hard time with the military which does not make sense at all. They told me no and I had to fight for it. Eventually they told me they would give it to me just this one time. That policy is hard for me to wrap my head around, if your a veteran your a veteran.

Thanks It's a toss up - We've seen it automatically applied to some bookings but have also had to call and have it added. We do have to resubmit each year and recently notice credit sitting in DH account that goes away once it's applied to a booking.

My dh qualifies for military OBC. When we are receiving a complimentary casino cruise(or very close to it) or a significant casino discount(thousands!) I have no problem with us not receiving the OBC. To me it is fair. ETA: After posting and thinking of my upcoming 28 day and 45 day cruise the discount was very good imo and the military OBC was automatically credit. For an upcoming complimentary one, no. But, even if it was not added for the significantly discounted ones, it would be fine. Edited February 22 by FlorenceItaly

farjar Posted February 22 #8 Share Posted February 22 We used the military OBC offer once before and just reverified my husband's eligibility. I thought I recalled we were then asked for our reservation number and it was applied to our upcoming, already booked cruise. The offer now seems to read for new bookings only. Can it be added to our existing reservation that is still six months away and how would that be done?

If you used a PCC or booked direct, just call HAL reservations.
Bizziecruzer Posted February 22 #10 Share Posted February 22 Only Applies to US residents. 😞

As you can see from this screen grab, Canadian vets are included. I can't speak for other countries, but it's not limited to US residents as far as I can see. I filled out the verification form last Saturday and the $100 was deposited in my account on Wednesday. My TA told me that it was handled by a 3rd party and usually takes 3-4 days after you submit the form.
