Paying for Carnival excursions. Gift Card or Credit Card?

I want to book a few Carnival excursions for our September Mediterannean cruise. 

I have AARP Gift Cards which I got at a 10% discount and am considering using these

I'm afraid if the excursions get cancelled by Carnival at the last minute due to any number of possible reasons, I will be refunded by gift card, which I don't want.

Should I pay for excursions by credit card so I get refunded by credit card if they are cancelled?

Yes, they always refund to the original payment method. I've never had to do a gift card refund but I believe others have said Carnival usually issues a new gift card since they can't be reloaded. A safe bet, I would use the GC for on board spending and use your CC to prepay the excursions.

Yeah if you pay with a gift card you’ll be refunded with a gift card. I use the carnival credit card for excursions. They give you a 10% statement credit.

Thank you. Assumption confirmed. I’ll use the gift cards for final payment, drinks, and Wi-Fi.

ALSO, I've had it take a L-O-N-G time to get a new gift card when I've cancelled something on board.

If the excursions are canceled while the cruise is underway, you actually get OBC.

That’s not bad I can cash out OBC in the casino.
