Morimoto Fresh Halibut XO

Recommended Posts

A few nights ago, I tried the Morimoto Fresh Halibut XO for $29.50 ($25 +18%)

This is offered daily on the Zuiderdam.

It was pretty good.   I enjoyed it and will order it again from time to time.

Here is a short video

Historically, I have been really happy with the fish offerings in the MDR. On recent 6 night Pacific Coastal, two fish dishes were very disappointing. Mahi mahi, blah bland not interesting at all (can’t recall the sauce/preparation as it was so boring) and salmon (nothing else on menu interested me) which was so undercooked I ate only the top 1/4inch. We were already late dining so did not bother to reorder and it seemed the kitchen wanted to go to bed too!  Really not that difficult to use a thermometer to measure temp/doneness on a piece of fish. Hope it is better on our upcoming 14 night RT Copenhagen on N. Statendam.  Perhaps with all the “free” cabins on the 6-nighter (seemed like every other pax was on a casino offer) the quality was slipping. But I will not pay $25 for an up charge halibut. I will pay $15 surcharge for the wonderful Dover sole in Sel de Mer!

Thanks! We tried the other two dishes, the lobster and the black cod, and liked both. Happy someone tried the halibut and gave feedback.

Do Mariner discounts work in this new Fish restaurant  ?

At 4* and 5* you can get 25% off Rudi’s Sel de Mer cover and supplement charges. Nothing yet added via a vis Morimoto, if that is the Fish restaurant you may be referring to.

You almost spilled it when you picked it up.  😉

Masaharu Morimoto is still my favorite Iron Chef

MINE TOO! I had the privilege of dining in his first restaurant, Morimoto, in Philadelphia, not long after it opened. He was actually in the kitchen that night and our server brought him to our table and we got to speak to him and have our pictures taken with him. I was star struck. It was an unbelievable meal.

I'm going on the Nieuw Statendam in June and they're having a Morimoto pop up two nights of our sailing and I booked it just as soon as it appeared on the app. I cannot wait.
