I have never cruised this line so am curious what the AVERAGE cost of the deluxe beverage package is and other comments

Recommended Posts

Thinking of doing a cruise right before my next cruise on a different line.  I will do a status match from Celebrity to Royal (I'm only Captains Club Select which if I read correctly will make me Platinum) although not many benefits from what I have read.  Also thinking that since the cruise I am looking at is a 5 day cruise doing without an internet package.  Good/bad idea?  I am wanting to do cheap but having the deluxe beverage package.  Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I don't think any of us can answer if not having internet is a good or bad idea for you. I never get internet on any cruise of any length because I like being disconnected. It has nothing to do with cost or duration.

Agree with @time4u2go. I'm the exact opposite; I always get internet because I dislike not being connected.

However, if you do decide to get it for the whole cruise, it's always cheaper to buy it ahead of time. Otherwise, you can buy access for one or more consecutive period/s of 24 hours on board, if you want to be connected on a sea day, for example.

The title of your message asks the average price of the deluxe beverage package.  I have paid anywhere from 52 per person, per day to 68.  I know it can go much higher than this also.  Others would probably know more, but I think it depends somewhat on the age and size of the ship.  Also, I watch for sales.  If the price drops, you can cancel and rebook at a lower cost.

What ship and itinerary?

Drink pkg can run anywhere from $58 and up.   Most of my future cruises are  $70 to $75 right now.

Beers avg $8 each

Wine can be $10 and up per glass

cocktails avg $13 or $14 each

you are allowed to bring a bottle of wine onboard on embarkment day.

Avg internet price is $20 a day for 1 device.   If thinking of buying more than 1 connection usually cheaper for one person to buy 2 devices.

That’s an oxymoron - if you want to go cheap bring a couple of bottles of wine and drink lightly in ports.

I'd say the average onboard price for the deluxe drink package is $100 per day before the 18% gratuity is added.   Some ships are a little lower ($90) but then the newest ships are going for $115 per day, perhaps higher for onboard pricing.  The usual sale to buy it prior to the cruise seems to top out at 30% off the onboard price, or the more common "buy one get one for half off" which is also hyped on boarding day but that is based on the higher onboard pricing.  Today my cruise planner shows an onboard price on the Mariner Of The Seas of $105 per day, but with the current 30% sale it is $72.99 per day.  Again that's all without the 18% tip tacked on.

Bottom line from all the above is if you want the drink package buy it before the cruise.  Just like the internet it is always cheaper than buying it once aboard the ship.   Or, for drinks you could gamble up to 2500 points and get Prime casino level and then get free drinks when the casino is open, only at the casino bar.
