Park 19 on the Sun Princess

Does anyone know if Park 19 is now open on the Sun Princess or if and when it will open. It appears to be so much fun, and we hope it will be working when we sail. Still a bit off, so we hope they are working on getting it going if not going now. Also, if it is open does anyone know if there is a cost for using the different venues on Park 19. Any information would be helpful.

It was not operational yet as of Thursday when we left. One day they were testing the Rollglider but it didn’t look very successful. Mostly they just had the motorized part moving around but some of the cars couldn’t even make it all the way around the track. One did have the seat contraption on it but none of the rest of them do. 
 

But even the ropes course wasn’t active yet. 
 

I don’t know what they were thinking but the track does come by the Sanctuary and I can see a lot of noise coming into that area from the riders. Not well planned.

No, it is not yet open. And no, there's no official word on when it will be open.

Wow, that is too bad. Hope it will be working before long. Looks like a lot of fun. Something new to Princess for kids and families.

Noise from the Rollglider mechanism or people screaming?

Was there any talk about the cost?

I meant people screaming but not really sure it's going to be THAT fast to warrant that reaction by the riders. We just don't really know yet. The cars do make a little humming sound when they come around that could be annoying but one might be able to tune it out.  

 

There is no talk of cost yet since it's not operational.

Still not operational. Wow. We go in about 6 weeks and my teen was hoping to ride it. Better prepare her not to get too excited, just in case.

Just curious, we have never been able to go to the Sanctuary since we are too cheap to pay to use the venue. But, on the Sun  Princess we get to go to the Sanctuary since we are in a suite as I understand. If we have kids in our suite can they use the Sanctuary on the Sun Princess. I think the other ships have a no kids policy in the Sanctuary, maybe I am incorrect about that as I said we have not been before. I wonder how this will work on the Sun Princess. If the kids are fine I think that will be OK. Most kids seem to be well behaved, so I guess this will be a good change for families.

The Sanctuary is adult only on the Sun, same as all other Princess ships.

But Sun Princess suites have a designated section contiguous to and aft of the Sanctuary called the Signature Sun Deck.  I don't think I've read anything definitive about whether kid suite passengers can use it.  I do recall reading that adult suite passengers can use the Sanctuary.

There have been a few Sun Princess recent ship tour videos (e.g. EatSleepCruise) which have stated The Sanctuary on Sun Princess  is reserved for guests 16 or older.

The Sanctuary on Sun is 16 and up, including the Signature Sun deck area of it .

And yes, it sucks for those who have minors in their suites as that's a perk they can't use.. while a 6 year old may or may not care, a 15 year old probably would care.

Sorry but no one under 16 is allowed in the Sanctuary even if they are in a suite. They can enter to see their parents but must leave when done. They can not sit in a lounger to hang out nor enjoy the pool or hot tubs.

I just got off the Sun Princess and I confirmed that it's 16+.  There was one kid that came in to see his parents for a few minutes.  The father escorted him from the entrance to the loungers and they hung out for a about 5-10 minutes.  The wait staff came over and offered him a soda and were joking around with him so they clearly knew him.  But then the father escorted him back to the exit and went back to the lounger with his (assumed) wife.

 

So it's not like the staff jumps on kids and push them out but it's very clear that they can come and check in with their parents but that are not allowed to stay and use the facilities.

 

(sorry for duplicate post right after my first one.  i didn't see it when I was reading the thread!  I've been answering so many Sun Princess questions I am forgetting which thread is which! 🙂 )

Thank you.  I noticed that which doesn't personally impact us on the upcoming cruise but does mean that we will not be reserving multiple Sanctuary cabins on Princess when traveling with our kids and granddaughters.  Just one more plus in the MSC Yacht Club column (on our 2 cruises the few children in the YC were extremely well behaved).

I keep looking around for this information as well.  Whatever is happening, I really wish that Princess would have some sort of way to update via their website or something.  Even if the dates have to change, it'd be nice to know what they are shooting for.

 

This is my family's first Princess cruise and so far it hasn't been a great experience.  From what they did to the first sailings, to the changes to our itinerary (Kotor to Bar), to the handling of the shows and finally the handling of Park 19.  Just seems very poor overall.  Hoping the actual cruise redeems my opinion.

We are in the June 1 cruise and hoping that Park 19 is open. We wanted this for our Grandkids and specifically booked the Sun for Park 19. 
Hopefully we can get some updates soon.

I'm currently on Sun Princess with my 9 year-old and sadly park 19 is still not open. Also the kids club often merges the older kids with the little ones and my kiddo doesn't really like it. This is our very first cruise as a family and I booked over a year ago because of all the fun kids things they advertised which is not the reality. Unfortunately, I don't recommend Sun princess to families with kids. If your kid isn't having a great time than the parents aren't either. 😒

Hi Mary, fingers crossed for your June 1st cruise but as of now, it is still not open and we are finding this cruise not very child friendly at all. But hopefully that changes! Good luck

This is so disappointing as we purposely booked this for the Grandkids with the Park 19 etc and all the promised offerings for the kids. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Hey again, 

My partner just got back from guest services and questioned what is going on. After insisting on some answers, he finally got some!! Because the ship was built in Italy, Park 19 passed all Italian regulations BUT did not pass international safety tests but they keep saying they're hopeful it will open soon! But they are definitely beating around the bush and being secretive about it.

maybe they should open it while in italy ahaha 

 

Were on June 1st  and hoping for it to open as well . If the roller glider or ropes course is the issue then why cant they open the rest of it . Splash pad , slides and climbing thing is also still closed

Can you be more specific about how the age groups are merged? Any other details about why they didn't like the Kids Club would be appreciated as well.

 

Our kids will be 10 and 8 on our sailing in Thanksgiving...here's to hoping Park 19 is open by then!
