Do the ships arriving from Hawaii get to Vancouver on time?

Recommended Posts

I’m on a HAL Hawaiian cruise r/t Vancouver next spring and looking to book flights. Do the ships arriving from Hawaii ( 5 days at sea ) generally make it to Vancouver at the scheduled time (7:00 AM)?

Cruise ships very carefully plan their sailing times and itineraries.  Yes, there is a very high probability they will dock at, or actually before, 7am. It will be pretty rare ANY cruise ship,  at ANY port, is seriously late.

As this is specific to HAL,  not sure why you wouldn't ask it on the HAL board.

That being said, there are very frequent discussions here on how early you can book flights out of Vancouver,  with the common recommendation of not before noon. Remember,  you need to clear Canadian Immigration and Customs at the port, and US immigration and Customs at the airport.

CruiserBruce is correct - do not book a flight home before noon; even better would be after 1:00 p.m.

Alternatively, stay overnight in Vancouver and then you catch an early morning flight home the next day when you won't be worrying about getting to the airport on time.

We were recently on a Hilo to Vancouver on Celebrity Edge.   We were in a suite so were on the first group to depart the ship.    We were off the ship by 7:30.    We had a 12:20 flight from YVR to SFO.

We chose to take the Canada Line (Subway) to the airport and had to walk about 10 minutes to the station.    Very easy to use and plenty of space for those with luggage.

We arrived at about 8:45 AM but when we went to checkin were told we couldn't checkin Luggage until 9:20 AM at the earliest.   While sitting and waiting we noticed that the Celebrity transfer busses started arriving around 9:00 AM

Lines through Immigration and U.S. Customs can be lengthy, but I understand you can make an online reservation.    If you have Global Entry -  you breeze through both Canadian and U.S. formalities with facial recognition.

We were in an Airport Lounge by 10:45 ---
