Ehpride Posted May 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2006 I don't think I would. I think my preference would be to just add great shoes, hair accessories and chandelier (sp?) earrings. But who knows...it might be something where I'd try it on and decide I need some kind of necklace. I love the dress btw!
ZoeyZoo Posted May 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2006 I have a similar dress in brown chiffon. I am not wearing a necklace. I think it is too busy. I bought bronze shoes, gold/brown drop earings, and a bronze clutch.
celbercrz333 Posted May 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2006 It would depend on the jewelry. I think the right piece would work ok. But, you wouldn't have to wear jewelry. I think it can go either way.
suezyq50 Posted May 23, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 23, 2006 I don't think I would. It can "stand alone"
Nebr.cruiser Posted May 24, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 24, 2006 I agree, a necklace would just be too much with this dress. All I'd go with would be dangly earrings, since the dress has a lot of details.
Gingee Posted May 24, 2006 #7 Share Posted May 24, 2006 If you want a necklace, pick a small one like a small stone. Maybe something that looks like a diamond.
Jane110 Posted May 24, 2006 #8 Share Posted May 24, 2006 Am I seeing the picture correctly? The bow and the tie are in the back and the front is open (no fabric) from neck to cleavage? If so, I'd wear a wide, flat gold chain necklace.
HarleyGirl Posted May 24, 2006 #9 Share Posted May 24, 2006 would wear one. I am wearing a dress with a halter style also and I'm just going to wear some nice earrings with it. Like a lot of OP said, it would be just too busy with a necklace. Have fun wearing that dress-love it!
BlueHerons Posted May 24, 2006 #10 Share Posted May 24, 2006 I would not wear one. I halter neckline is very flattering on its own to your neck and your arms plus you have the sequins. Go with earings.
desperatehousewife Posted May 24, 2006 #11 Share Posted May 24, 2006 Love the dress!!! I am going with the minority so far and say YES. I would keep it simple and in keeping with the colors, accentuate the neckline, not detract from it. If you choose a piece to busy or large, I feel you would be taking away from the beautiful plunge. On the other hand, if you chose a piece that hand the same colors and right shape, you would be enhancing what is already there... IMHO. Love the dress..love the dress!!:D Did you get that on ebay or at a store if you don't mind my asking? Heather
Lforlisa Posted May 24, 2006 Author #12 Share Posted May 24, 2006 Thanks so much, my hubby picked it out! I got it at Marshall Field's on one of the clearance racks - $20!! Can't beat that!!

Your dress is gorgeous - and the price is divine! I just love getting great bargains like this. I don't think the dress needs a necklace, but something small and simple would look nice too. gjules Posted May 24, 2006 #15 Share Posted May 24, 2006 I think you need to take your dress jewellry shopping! I don't think it's as simple as yes, wear a necklace or no, don't wear a necklace.I wouldn't have worn a necklace with a halter, but I saw Reba on the ACM awards last night and she had a 'Y' type necklace with a halter style dress. It looked very nice. I do love the dress and what a bargain! Congrats!!:)
judyzoo Posted May 24, 2006 #16 Share Posted May 24, 2006 I'd be inclined to wear a necklace, but something very simple. Whatever you do, enjoy your great bargain!
dna1990 Posted May 24, 2006 #17 Share Posted May 24, 2006 My wife would likely offer the following advice (and seeing how it has worked, umm several times, I guess she would be right). Model the dress at home or on the first night, then absolutey don't take a necklace - BUT be sure and point out something very shiny in St.Thomas (or fill in name of Jewelry port here), that would just look FABULOUS with it...! All that money saved on the dress (plus some), now goes to sparkles that you keep forever.

It depends completely on the necklace. If I wore a dress like this, the necklace would have to be in a choker style.
jillybabes Posted May 25, 2006 #19 Share Posted May 25, 2006 Like Jane110, I would opt for either a gold necklace or a single diamond pendant 16 or 18 inch length...Jill:cool:
FinelyRetired Posted May 25, 2006 #20 Share Posted May 25, 2006 I vote for no necklace. Big tie in back of neck....no necklace in front. But I'd definately be wearing some dainty, dangly, sparkly earrings! Great dress. Marty
momofmeg Posted May 25, 2006 #21 Share Posted May 25, 2006 You could but if you go for chandlier ear rings it may be too much.
