wow...here we have all been waiting for so long to hear all about Blackbirds first Seabourn Experience, and it seems it is not going well for him at all!! I am so sorry to hear that, as our first experience was so wonderful I am still boring all our friends stupid by talking about it!

BlackBird, I am so terribly sorry about the frustrations you encountered at the beginning of your cruise. I can only hope that things will settle down and you will get the "true" experience of Seabourn; beauty, luxury, great service and being pampered beyond belief!

Thank you so much for your info about the life boat drill and Tobago. Your picture has me itching to get on that forward deck where the hot tub is....how I love it out there.

All good thoughts being sent your way for smooth sailing from here in!

P.S. Cape Breton Gal, when I was on the Legend, my sister and brother in law were in 202. Nice cabin, AND....you are on the opposite side of the ship from where the Anchor Suite is located (close to the anchor....so you hear every chain when it comes up and goes down!). I was in 201 (the aforenamed Anchor Suite)...and I preferred deck 5 because I could easily access the bow; my favorite spot.

Jane :o

who is probably going to be the last one assigned her cabin, as it still isn't!!

Something that has concerned me about these boards for a long time...is...expectations beyond reality. Some of our subscribers describe all of their personal privilages and demands. We have NEVER asked for anything special...all that we have received has been wonderful. I defy anyone to say that they have had anywhere near the quality of service that they recieve on SB...without extra demands, on ANY other ship. If I could wager a guess, you had extraordinary ideas due to posts..thus....when tired..after a horrid experience at the airport...then...late to the ship...and the skybar was not a good reception..as the posts would make you believe...then...marina day canceled. Marina day has been canceled on many of our trips...it is either weather...or...the island authorities decide to get snippy and the poor Capt. has to take the guff. Trust me, never do they make a decision to make the cruiser unhappy. A wise traveler never arrived the day of departure..that simply adds to your fatigue and discontent.BB..I hope that You will relax, and allow the crew and staff to prove to you that they are the best...have a super cruise. Lola

I probably had very high expectations before our cruise as well, as I had been reading these boards for at least a year before we sailed, but I am very glad to say we found everything was just as we had been told....wonderful! Like the La Palomas we didnt ask for any extra treatment either, and treated the crew like we would our friends.....and indeed think of some of them as friends now....I cant wait to see some of them again. When we did make a "little" complaint about a Room Service mix up, we were then very embarrassed the next day to have some of the crew go to extra lengths for us...we didnt want that at all. In 55 days we didnt have a Marina Day...I would have loved to see that...but it would only have been a small extra....suppose being in the Caribbean makes it a bit more of a big deal.

We had NEVER been on a cruise before....and one day ~might~ try one of the other lines......paticularly if there is an itinerary we want.....but I just cant imagine the service or the friendliness being any better anywhere else! I am really sorry to hear BB has had a problem the first day! :(

Blackie,

I'm terribly sorry you have had disappointments. A suggestion would be for you to go visit with Mr. Rick Collison, your Hotel Manager. Rick is a super-duper fellow and he would want to know of your "issues!"

As to the Marina Day being cancelled, I'm sure the Captain had his valid reasons......the Master wouldn't simply "ruin the day" on a whim.

Please visit with Rick!

Martita B.

BB-Unless I'm reading your itinerary wrong (as posted on the Seabourn website) you aren't actually scheduled for a "Marina Day" ---only a beach bar-b-que is mentioned. Plus, if your excursion for Margarita Island got lost, why not go ashore and tour on your own. It appears to be an interesting place.

Internet is back. No Internet at Margarita Island. The front desk said that there interference that knocked out the net and the TV channels.

I have had a couple long talks with Rick the Hotel Manager, and he understands his room stewardess crew are not allowed in my suite this week. I can live without their "cleaning".

Also on Rick, turns out he was probably on the Cunard Countess the couple times I was in the 80s.

West Coast Jane :)

and any other divers. While Rick will be getting off the Pride this Saturday, he is a major diving person. When you are in Barbados he said check out Roger's Scuba Shack at the Boat Yard in Bridgetown. Tell them Rick from the Countess/Seabourn sent you. He said they know him more from the Countess than the Pride. ROFL. He and his wife (who is on the Pride with him) are off for their place in the Med for his vacation and once a day diving. They just sunk a ship off Barbados and he said it was a good dive.

Got one question answered today. I could not understand why we had to tender at MI. I had check Cruise Calendar and we were the only ship in port. Wrong they do not track the Spanish line Pullmantor and the Blue Moon (R-Ship) was in port.

Over half of the passengers are none US. 1/3 from the UK, next Canada, and one couple from New Zealand and another couple from Granny's Island.

If they do not do Marina day in Tabago DO NOT DO the glassbottom boat per a couple at dindin tonight.

Oh the Kid on Board is 1 yo....

SO glad to hear from you. I was afraid with all your frustrations, you would not be posting again! Thank you for the info on Barbados diving. I will make a point to ask about that new wreck dive. I hope you are having a good time, in spite of the things that have been going a bit haywire for you. Please enjoy your Thanksgiving (oh...do they have turkey for dinner onboard?)....I'm sorry, once again, that I'll miss seeing you!

If the wonderful SB stewardesses cannot please you n.

"Wonderful" stewardesses do not ignore EVERY thing you requested for you suite set up. Even the Hotel Manager Rick admitted they had my simple list for my setup and she ignored them.

I do not drink in my suite so no bottles ordered. Two found in suite. My simple suite set up request

No welcome champagne :) Lots of Diet Coke and some small bottled waters :)

Please send no "hosted table" invites.

Thanks in Advance...

these are the wishes that Nicole could not handle...

West Coast Jane: If there is any island that you and your pink tanks do not have anything to do, tell me what island and I will check with Rick for suggestions.

GREAT :) Mexican food at lunch yesterday at the Veranda Cafe.

And if you are a late check in, from the gangway to your cabin there is nothing provided to drink. And you may like myself "Escort" yourself to your suite.

Note to new to Seabourn ppl, before you can use WiFi you have to go to the computer center and login for the first time. I had no problem with my Apple P'Book using WiFi.

BB, I, too, am sorry to hear you've had frustrations :( on your cruise. Like Jane and other CCr's, just glad you continue to post. VERY appreciative of your WiFi advice. My DH gets 'fussy' if he's out of touch for long, and he's not a computer wizard. I'm his tech advisor, scary isn't it.

Great Mexican food? I love Mexican, but I'm sort of surprised they have it. Do they have other cuisines as well? We are foodies, and looking forward to the meals on board.

Hi to all:D , can't wait to meet everyone. Sorry not to meet BB. Another time, maybe.

Linda

Blackbird, I think the one question we had was where the ship was going to anchor....was it Charlotteville, Tobago? I found scuba on that island, but it's on the other side, Speyside, I think it's called. I'm just wondering about logistics, getting from the ship to Speyside. Any ideas from Rick? The outfit I contacted was "Aquamarine Dive".

On Margarita Island, I could find no scuba shops at all for the day, which was fine since I thought a land excursion might be fun. I had my eye on the one with the horseback riding. Anyone you know take that excursion?

Thank you for posting and I hope this is a glorious day for you on the Pride!

P.S. Final check on the life boat drill. So we should be aboard, and in our cabins, no later than 5pm, since the drill is at 5:15?

Jane :)

Right if you are CHECKED IN you have to go at 5:15 else if you check in later you get an excused absent (sp).

Grenada tour Tour - The Exotic Island

Not a bad day in Grenada. But it started with Hotel Manager and me confused. Where's the port.... But Cunard Rick checked and two years ago they built a new cruise port to handle the larger ships. So no longer can you just hop a water taxi to the beach :(

I was lucky on the tour. It had rained and with cloud cover in the morning it was very cool. It wasn't until the last 30 minutes that the Caribbean heat kicked in.

Somebody took a picture of Blackbird NeKid....

Ugh I did not get luck on the tour bus. I was at the back of the 20 pax bus and behind me were a British and American couple with non-stop mouthes talking politics.
