Roll Call; Pride 12/2-9-16 B2B Barbados

I can't believe I leave on Tuesday the 28th for Barbados. It has seemed so far away for so long. Woke up with an icky migraine this morning....I'm hoping that means I will not get one on my trip. :(

Last night I had a dream that I looked out my window on a ship and I was on a deck that had a veranda..i.e., I had to look past the veranda (that went all the way around the ship, like the larger cruise lines), and I could hardly see the ocean. I went "OH NO!" One thing I love, love, love about Seabourn; waking up in the morning and looking out your huge window at the beautiful blue sea!

I have all my luggage waiting to be packed, my Christmas decorations almost all put up (wanted to have them in place before my return), and my little apartment has stuff sitting everywhere. Can't wait to see you all!

Sounds like your SB experience was all you hoped for and perhaps more . What was your favorite aspect of traveling on SB? Looking to book at end of 07...was the size of your suite adequate?

Thanks for the input and the pics! Looks like FUN!

Monday night I hope to have a link to my mini photo album of this cruise up.

The size and layout of the suite was more than adequate. I had a couple questions before the cruise about 1) could I sit at the window and get a good sea view - YES, and 2) was the "makeup table" at the foot of the bed a good work surface for my laptop. again YES. While I did have problems with my room stewardess, I have never had service like I received on Seabourn on any other ship. I still do not understand how on the first time in the any restaurant they knew my name.

In my talks at the airport with Corey (sp), another first timer, that one guest was brought a towel and escorted by security from the front hot-tub because he was using it Au Natural

Lessons Learned:

Before coming to Seabourn, my experiences with Open Seating were on the RSSC Mariner and Silver Whisper. They had a lot of 6 person tables and I loved "joining a group" which they formed as ppl showed up for dinner. Because of the smaller number of guests and lots of tables for two/four I tried seating at a group table the first two nights and that did not work out. So after the first two nights I sat alone with my iPod listening to the newest "Spenser for Hire" book by Robert Parker. When I read on here about the "Hosted" tables I was turned off by the fixed dinning time, so I had my named marked No Hosted Tables. My "Lesson Learned" for this cruise is in the future I will accept the Hosted tables invites and dine by myself on other nights.

Note to Dec cruisers - bring from home or get from your stewardess a garbage bag for your wet things from the Beach party. It is the last full day and you will be packing wet things after it. I did not plan on swimming at the beach BBQ but my sneakers got sandy and wet as I was taking pictures at the Caviar in the Surf event. :p

Edited to add

Thanks Seabourn I just checked my booking number for my Legend cruise and it is up and has all my information from my Pride cruise copied over along with my CLUB Number. :)

Note to BB:

It is always okay to decline a hosted table offer. I had an offer each evening I sailed on the Legend in April; I accepted several, and declined the last few. (I declined one just to experience having dinner in my own suite, served by courses...embarassed for it to be "only" one, but what a hoot! Avec champagne, to be sure!...:D )

Interesting to hear about the gentleman (?) being escorted from the 5th deck whirlpool!!! Will look forward to your mini-photo review...and thanks for the info about the last beach day....

Rest up, ol' ye BB! Glad you had a good time!

Jane (SantaAna):

Can't believe you're leaving so early! What another hoot! You'll be a bronzen babe by the time we sail....!!!!

That's thinkin' ahead! Maybe I'll see ya' Friday at the fish fry....

Paul

who will try to catch up to Jane beginning on the 30th! :D

In 55 days, we only dined alone ONCE, and in 55 days, we only found ONE obnoxious dinner guest! (embarassingly it was an Aussie!). I think we also only turned down ONE hosted invitation, and that was because I had caught a bug and needed an early night. By dining with groups every night we met some lovely people, wouldnt have got to talk to them otherwise. I doubt on our next cruise of 72 days that we will ever dine alone (apart from the nights we feel too lazy to get dressed...or on those rare occasions when the gourmet food just gets a bit too much, and you crave a burger and fries!!) We actually didnt enjoy sitting alone for that one dinner, felt we were "missing out"!

We also had a perfect stewardess, and the other stewardess' on our deck were always friendly and joking with us.......still only the wi fi I could find fault with on our whole cruise! Cant wait till the next one!

OK, Everyone! Port side of the SkyBar after the lifeboat drill! (no sail-away til later, and I might be asleep by then. (Although we are a group of 20 so might spill over...to the starboard side....)

See you there!

BB, The pics are wonderful !! They make it real. We leave on Thurs for the Peach and Quiet, then on to the cruise. My DH has enjoyed your posts as they have shown him that this is going to be a great time. Not that he doubted SB, but as a first timer he is now really excited. One question regarding WiFi, is there a charge if you use your own Laptop ? My DH thinks yes, I'm betting on no. Can't wait to see the next pics !! I'm thinking I won't try the 'nekid' hot tub frolic !! ;)

Jane et al: See you guys at the P&Q:D , looking forward to the fishfry !!:) :D What time do you get into Barbados ? We get in from Philly by way of Atlanta at 3:15. Also, what is the time difference, if any. Looks like an hour, but I don't know.

It is one hour later in Barbados than the east coast. But your arrive time should be in Barbados time.

There is a charge for the internet no matter what machine you use. But if you bring a laptop, you have to go to the computer center and create a logon id using your boarding card.

The SkyBar it is! Looks very likely to be some "spillover"!!! The Pride may never be quite the same....:D

Linda: I may see you in Atlanta...I'm on the same flight!

BB: Again, thanks for the photos & the info...great having a CCer preceeding us and giving us glimpses ahead....;)

Paul,,,,

Just check your daily paper if they are going to do the Sky Grill dinner in Barbados like they did my week. There may be a riot with all the CCers sitting at the tables as they try to convert them :D:D

That shouldn't be an issue; you went at 7, we will be there before and after the drill at 5'ish. We are a flexible group. We are not meeting to bond for life, just to get acquainted. Time is on our side.

Oh, I am not. I just meant that on the first afternoon we would probably just be putting nicknames to names and faces. We have oodles of time!
