jckvpa0 Posted July 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2006 I'm looking for some help from some experienced travelers. We would like to take a cruise around the 20th of July but we have two requirements. We would love the cruise to depart out of Boston & we really would love to have a balcony. Can someone suggest the quickest search engine I could use to find this information out, which cruise line really doesn't matter.

trish1c Posted July 10, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2006 Any of the major on-line travel sites will let you search by the criteria you specified: date & port of departure. There are no real differences in the search engines. There may be price differences between those big sites & the on-line or brick & mortar TAs. parody Posted July 10, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2006 we really would love to have a balcony. This is really a good question. I am not aware of an easy to use cruise search engine in which it is possible to specify a balcony as a criteria. That said, all new (or relatively new) ships will have balcony and/or suites available because of their popularity. However, there are some older ships that do not have balcony staterooms (although there may be a few suites with verandahs). Maybe others can suggest a more globally efficient way to determine this, but after specifying a date and port one may need to check the deck plans for alternative cruise lines to verify that a balcony is available. One way this can be accomplished is to go to http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/Main/home1.htm
Virga Posted July 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2006 that vtg link that someone posted (it may disappear) lets you search by type (Inside, OV, Balcony, Suite) and it's about the handiest thing ever
serene56 Posted July 10, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 10, 2006 For July 23rd and 30th Norweign Majesty is leaving from Boston. No balconies are available. Any online booking agency will let you do a search if you click on advance search-- then click on Boston as your departure port.
