barbarah33 Posted March 21, 2007 Author #29 Share Posted March 21, 2007 I emailed the Marriott resort to get my day passes in advance. Just go to their website to get the email address. They were very fast to respond and super friendly. When we arrived that day they were all ready for us and waiting.

Langley Cruisers Posted June 20, 2007 #32 Share Posted June 20, 2007 You could try www.stkittsmarriott.com , got that out of my brocheur. My sister and I just came back from St.Kitts after a ten day stay and must say that it is a very beautiful island. It was not a vacation and we were staying at my Cousins but we did venture out alot and I think that we covered most of St.Kitts. I agree with Liz that the beach on Frigate Bay is definately the one to visit to swim as it is not busy and is also a close walk to the Marriott which overwhelms the whole bay on the other side. It is worth visiting. Another place we enjoyed was the beach bar at Turtle Beach. That is a beautiful place to have lunch, they also have wild monkeys around so don't be startled. Their Banana Bread Pudding is to die for. If you like history, Brimstone Hill is a must see, A little futher away it is a British Fortress from the 17 hundreds. Also on the way stop at the Caribelle Batik where you will find hand made prints and sarongs that are very reasonable. You will also see a three hundred year old tree that the Carib King used to sit under before the Europeans came. We grew up in St.Lucia and found St.Kitts to be like St.Lucia was forty years ago. Beaches are empty and there is not much development although it looks like it is starting. Sugarcane ended as the main product of the island and so they are turning to tourism. Hope this helps and have fun on this beautiful island. Perry

Langley Cruisers Posted June 21, 2007 #35 Share Posted June 21, 2007 Hi Liz, I will have a look but time is definitely an issue with me. Hey, do you have any roots to Trinidad? Your last name rings a bell. Perry
Liz Pereira Posted June 22, 2007 #36 Share Posted June 22, 2007 No, my roots are from St. Kitts. (Ancestors from Madeira)
Langley Cruisers Posted June 22, 2007 #37 Share Posted June 22, 2007 Hi Liz, My parents are from Trinidad and both sides come from English decent. I have been doing some genealogy research and am finding cousins all over the place so that is why I asked. I had never been to St.Kitts before but had heard alot about it as my neighbour was from there. I was really delighted with the lack of traffic and uncluttered beaches. I definitely would go again. Rare hcat Posted August 28, 2007 #38 Share Posted August 28, 2007 We have previously toured this beautiful place--& walked all through the town. Marriot sounds good for our next trip...was the day pass for 1 person or is it a room rate? Did you buy lunch there or is it included in the rate? ricki Posted August 30, 2007 #39 Share Posted August 30, 2007 I just spoke to the front desk at the Marriott and a one day pass for two people is $80 plus 19% tax. This includes a room, access to the pools, gym and beach. Not a bad deal at all! Ricki

Liz Pereira Posted August 30, 2007 #42 Share Posted August 30, 2007 I recommend going to any of the fun beach bars located down the street on the Caribbean side. http://www.mrxshiggidyshack.com http://www.ziggysbeachbar.com
GSDsky Posted August 31, 2007 #43 Share Posted August 31, 2007 This past Feb we went to the shiggity shack location but actually walked the beach and had a beer at every bar on the beach to meet the owners. Met the Canadians who own one and had a great time. Then hopped in a cab for a very short ride to the Marriott up the road to check out casino and beach. By the way the Marriott is owned by Canadians? Will repeat this upcoming Feb again. By the way some bars get promotions from beer suppliers so they do have sales going on. LMAO. Hi Fellow Canadian! :) I love South Frigate Bay because of all the fun beach bars! Yes, the Regean and Doris at Ziggy's are great people. The Marriott was built by Royal Plastics of Woodbridge, Ontario. You should become a member of the friendly St. Kitts forum http://***** You can review your favourite beach bar. isleschick3 Posted September 18, 2007 #45 Share Posted September 18, 2007 I saw on another thread that Liz posted a picture of the Marriot beach that had small pavillion-like huts on the beach. That looks like something that might be nice for taking my parents too the beach. Does anyone know of any where else I can find these?

They were build because of the strong wind on the Atlantic side.

terri1020 Posted October 17, 2007 #48 Share Posted October 17, 2007 How do you purchase a Marriott day pass? We are leaving Saturday, Oct 20 on Princess Crown. A day pass might fit our needs. I went to their sight and can't put in ONE day. Any information would be appreciated. Terri
dcrow72 Posted November 7, 2007 #49 Share Posted November 7, 2007 We had the pleasure of visiting St Kitts on the Crown repos cruise 10/20/07. Had never been there before and it climbed to my list of favorite places ever. Clean, absolutely beautiful, and the people wonderful. We used "Joe and Rose" tours/taxi from the pier. Joe was a wonderful gentleman who was very knowledgable about the island and her history. I wanted to go to Turtle beach even though I knew it was closed to see that area of the island. The roads were well paved and the wildlife along the way was a sight to see. Goats everywhere along with horses, cows and dozens of monkeys roaming everywhere. Very unspoiled beaches and mountains. After a brief stop at Turtle Beach, we headed for the Marriott Resort. The weather was not very nice and although I would have loved to see the rest of the island, sitting in a van (albeit a nice van with big windows and a/c) was not my idea of relaxation. We inquired at the desk about a day pass and were told that for $75, 4 people could share a room and have use of all facilities. There were 8 of us and we asked about a suite. For $109, we had a one bedroom, extremely large, time share type room right near the ocean for the day. The place seemed empty! It wasn't a beach day, but we did check it out-it was beautiful. Met Sammy the 7 month old monkey who promptly climbed on me and I gave him a banana I had stashed just in case I found a friendly critter. He was soooo sweet and lovable. The young boy to whom he belonged really loved him and it was obvious he was well cared for. Never asked me for a dime, but I gave him a some money anyway. Didn't find peddlers pushing you on St. Kitts like every place else I've been. Quite the contrary. The food and drinks were great although typical resort over priced and the casino was friendly (made a donation!). WE booked the repo for next year as well and look forward to going back and spending the day at the Marriott area. By the way, the tour of the Salt Pond area/Turtle beach, drop and Marriott and pick up later was $15 US per person. Add the $15 or so pp for the day pass and we had a great day for $30 each. No tour on the ship could beat that. Joe wouldn't take any money til he came back to pick us up either. Took his card and will definitely call next year!! St Kitts could not disappoint anyone.
