We are thinking of booking this HAL tour (see below).Does anyone know the departure time for this tour(transfer) in Tortola? We are wondering if it is AM or PM.

Cane Garden Beach Transfer

DURATION: Approximately 4 hours

PRICE: $24 Adult $14 Child

Drive thirty minutes to beautiful Cane Garden Beach via Joe's Hill Road. From this vantage point you can see the heart of Road Town, and the panoramic view of the surrounding islands from an elevation of 1,000 feet. A half mile of powdery sand beckons you to play in the sun, swim in the clear blue water or relax in the shade. Refreshments and souvenir items are available at a few beach restaurants in the surrounding area. After three hours at the beach, re-board your bus and transfer back to the ship.

I just checked HAL's board and apparently this transfer has been cancelled.

Cane Garden Beach Transfer *Cancelled*

DURATION:

PRICE: $24 Adult $14 Child

This excursion is no longer being offered by Holland America Line. As an alternative, we recommend that guests take the "Tortola Highlights" or the "Forest Hike & Beach" excursion. These excursions each include a stop at Cane Garden Beach.

Sorry! Don't know why. Maybe enough people weren't taking it. You can always take a taxi over to the beach. We took the transfer in the morning and it poured rain. :( Got soaked and we were cold.

We were recently on a sailboat with friends and moored one night at Cane Garden Bay. For us it was a "busy" mooringl, lots of small craft and not the clearest water. I prefer beaches that have the clear, turquoise waters -- maybe it was the weather that day, but this would not be the beach that I would choose -- what about the baths? The water is great there.

arzz ... Glad you posted your comments on Cane Garden Beach! (Some friends were a bit more "graphic" in telling us why we should NOT go there.) :D

We were telling some friends whose family has a house in Tortola that we wanted to do something different (rather than The Baths, Norman Island, etc.) so were planning to go to Cane Garden Beach.

They thought is was an awful idea! It's pretty BUT the water is NOT where locals swim now. (Lots of "waste" from the various boats .... )

We love Tortola and will just do something else on that beautiful island!

Happy Sailing! OCruisers :)

We saw that the Cane Garden Beach transfer was no longer being offered by HAL when we went to their site to book it. Alternative beach suggestions would be appreciated. We plan to get a taxi and go to the beach but we are open to suggestions.
