just like any casino, when you play you make sure you have the card in the machine. you didn't play all that much, but still cashed out some toward our onboard bill. any benefit is something when the card is free.

anyone know how this thing works, and if its worth getting? How much do you have to spend to actually get something....thanks!

It's free to sign up, and the sea points are good for up to 18 months.

The slot machines tend to add the points more quickly to the cards since it adds them on automatically. We normally spend our time at the tables and the pit crew take notes on your play time and bets, but it just doesn't add the points on as quickly. On each of our cruises we have at least made it to the minimum amount of 25 sea points each, which when turned in gives you $25 off your onboard account. Husband and wives are allowed to combine their points also.

Casino at Sea program is great, especially if you spend a lot of time in the casino :)

We ended up with over a $ 600.00 credit towards our acct. after an 11 night cruise.

We made great friends with the entire casino staff.

ALWAYS use the card, it adds up and you will be more than happy.

Wow! You must have done quite a bit of gambling, especially slots. I gamble my fair share but I have never gotten more than $50 or so in credit. I play BJ almost exclusively, so that's one of the reasons since everybody says playing slots accumulates points faster. But $600? That's amazing.

My feeling is, if you're intending to gamble anyway, you should definitely sign up. There's no downside since it's free.

To clarify, Yes we do gamble alot. We were part of a gambling

junket-hence the large amount of time in the casino.

Pre cruise we were told what our "Expected play" would be for the

length of the cruise, three days into the 11 night cruise we "Met" our requirement :) So for the rest of the time we were playing for comps.

we had great luck, came home with a number of W'2 tax forms.

Considering all we paid for the cruise was our tips and port fees we felt

we came out big winners. I cannot imagine what we actually ran through those machines though

On our last cruise, Dec 7th Dawn, I completed the minimum $25 and picked up about 30 more. Playing after midnight also doubled and sometimes tripled your points. on the last night, they added up my points and "comped" me another 40 points which surprised me.

Unless you play like the previous poster, just do it for the fun and possible future benefits (special upgrades on your next cruise). The only thing we got out of it was a gift certificate from a drawing held the first day on the ship. It was for people who signed up that afternoon.

My sons played in numerous poker tournaments and I played a fair amount of blackjack and we didn't get any comps. Vegas is better than the ship but we weren't playing for comps, we were playing for fun.

Yes, you do have to play more than a few dollars, actually more than $100 or $200. But if you do, it is a nice perk. There were some other threads about this. Do a search on "casino" and they should pop up.

You can sign up now or when you board. Does not matter.

The best I could figure it, you get 1 point on your card for every $100 of through-put on the quarter slots. Point earnings go up significantly for higher denomination (e.g., 50-cent, $1, etc.) slot play, but I couldn't tell you what.

Well, it doesn't cost anything: no you will not build up points like in Vegas, but it's fun and every little bit helps. I managed to get $35 off my obc when I sailed the Sun last spring. I already had some points from the Jewel. Becky, it does take a lot, but I don't think it is quite as much as you figured. I didn't really try to understand how it worked, but 1 point for $100 sounds a little bit off. You could be right, we all know how much we can put in when we are playing with our money plus credits built up. One of the casino workers on the Jewel did tell me, the points do not start calculating until you have played either 10 or 15 min at a particular machine. I don't know if this is fact. NMnita

On the DAWN, they had many late night promotions (maybe everynight) where you earned double points from Midnight to 9AM I think. They also had 2 for 1 drinks in the casino a couple nights...after 11, I think.

On the Sun one night they had a free drink special for ladies after midnight. Well DD and I were exceptionally tired that night but I can assure you, no way were we going to miss free drinks. Waiting for midnight hour I hit on a nickel slot machine for about $150 and then came midnight. The cocktail waitresses were right there, took our order and we managed to stay awake til we drank 2 drinks each. Of course by this time in the cruise we won't discuss how much I had lost or how much I lost the rest of the cruise, but WE GOT FREE DRINKS>>>>>>>>>lol

Is there a minimum bet that generates points? On the Majesty where they had to walk around and keep track of what machines you were at they refused to give me a card. I think he was just plain Lazy. I spent a lot of time in the casino and spent several hundred dollars not to mention the winnings I had and gave back. A few months ago I applied online have not received anything. Do they send you a card or will I need to sign up again next cruise?

I've only been on the Dawn and Jewel.

I get 2 players cards (since I learned about them) I play 2 slots at the same time..never knew I could have a card for each machine until my 3rd cruise. Hostess informed me.

Sign up on your next cruise, when you board or your first time in the casino...points also carry over for your next cruise..if you cruise within the next 18 months (I believe).

I only gamble on a cruise.

You do not have to apply on-line.

Happy sailing and Good Luck:)

My boyfriend and I played blackjack 7 days in a row for a few hours each day. I ended up with 2 points and he ended up with one! Not worth it in my book, but it's free.

Nattrb, playing with the players card is like Vegas or anywhere in the states: it is primarily designed for slot players as it is easier to keep track of money being played. DH has found it isn't worth it for him to bother either whether cruising or on land. He is a craps player, but not a high roller. I would guess you fall into the same catagory.
