what a great cruise! traveled with a group of 17 people on the eastern itinerary and it was my second time on the liberty.

-saturday (embarkation): one of the first ones to get onboard. check in process was smooth and organized. weather was HOT and nice.

-sunday (fun day at sea): weather was sunny and hot but windy. lido deck band impulse was awesome. first formal night.

-monday (san juan): spent most of the day on deck despite a few passing showers and choppy seas.

-tuesday (st thomas): very hot with few clouds, spent most of the day on the beach and did some shopping in havensight.

-wednesday (antigua): another hot and sunny day on the beach with few clouds. deck party was really fun. the band az-izz was awesome. one of the best deck parties i've been too.

-thursday (tortola): wasn't as hot as the other days but still nice weather. winds started picking up in the afternoon. the winds caused some choppy sea conditions thursday night.

-friday (fun day at sea): woke up to rough seas (8-12 ft waves), gray clouds and showers due to a cold front. spent the day catching up on sleep and doing a little shopping on board. sun came out around 3pm and seas started to calm down a little.

-saturday (nassau): beautiful sunny day spent on deck. 6 ships were in port. a lot of people got off the ship.

-sunday (debarkation): did the early debarkation and was off the ship by 8:45am. of course it was very sad leaving the ship.

i thought it was a good idea that there were purel wipes and dispensors throughout emiles and the dining rooms. i noticed a lot of people were using them. the crowd on the ship was very mixed in age. the casino had a good crowd in it every night as well as the disco. the food was good and i took advantage of the alternative menu during dinner a couple nights. the cruise director was todd wittmer. overall the ship, food, and weather were great. can't wait until the next cruise next year!

Water Baby 1983: i dont really know the answer to that but i prefer to cruise on the newer ships for the latest design and technology. i can tell you when the sea was calm it felt like we weren't even moving.

I_Live_2_Cruise: haha thanks, reality really stinks right now especially since i'm back in cold weather!

LindaJSteele: for the most part the entertainment shows that i saw were the same as other shows on previous carnival ships (like wonderful world, i think thats what its called, and the legends show). i only saw 1 comedian and he was pretty funny. the lido band was great as well as az-izz during the deck party. the legends auditions on the lido deck were fun too.

Saw the big smiley face next to the title, and knew immediately I wanted to hear (well read, actually) about someone having a great time on Liberty. After that one exceptionally unfortunate sailing earlier, there has been minimal cheering for this ship. Definitely looking forward to sailing Liberty in May, and greatly appreciate you posting these kudos for your itinerary. Glad you had a wonderful time.:)

Also excited to soon board the Liberty and counting the days!

Just wondering what you did in San Juan? Or what others did? I am concerned due to the timing while in port! Did most people return to the ship for dinner?

Just a few questions if you have the time to answer:

1) What movies were played on the screen in the evenings? and if you remember what concerts?

2) How many late night comedians did you have?

3) How late were the pools open if you remember? Were you able to be in the pools in the evenings when the movies were playing?

4) How long were the buffet lines? any tips for times? ON the conquest they got quite long.

5) Any other tips or suggestions?

Froufie: our first time on the liberty we got off the ship and just walked around for an hour. this time some people i went with got off but i didn't. the dining room was about half empty.

Firefighterhoop:

1) What movies were played on the screen in the evenings? and if you remember what concerts?

Movies: finding nemo, mrs doubtfire, independence day, indiana jones and the last crucade, grease, chronicals of narnia, lord of the rings return of the king

Concerts: beach boys, james taylor, cher, tina turner, tom jones, diana krall, barry mannelo, andrew lloyd webber

2) How many late night comedians did you have?

4

3) How late were the pools open if you remember? Were you able to be in the pools in the evenings when the movies were playing?

i'm not sure what time they close, we were at the 8:00 dinner every night.

4) How long were the buffet lines? any tips for times? ON the conquest they got quite long.

the lines moved quickly except in nassau when everyone was trying to have lunch before getting off the ship.

5) Any other tips or suggestions?

when in tortola use a van or car if possible not those open air trucks. when in port get off the ship as early as you can so you have the whole day. try doing the sit down breakfast/lunch

mac4cruise: nope just saw the books around the photo area

oceanlvr1016: its a mediterranean theme. so far my fav theme ship. a lot of art work, flowers in clay pots, and wrought iron

What time did you get to the Ship ? And how did you get there ?

Also, Did the Ship dock at Havensight in St. Thomas ?

Thanks for a nice review.

Thanks CCLGodess for the info on San Juan - but just wondering about your Tortola advice:

when in tortola use a van or car if possible not those open air trucks
Is there a reason for this? Too hot? not safe? Just wondering as one of the tours we are looking into I believe uses a 20 person open air van/taxi!

Thanks!

THank you for the report - I'm scheduled for my second Liberty cruise in March and remember that embarkation for the first one was a nightmare. (however, it was only the second U.S. outing for them, so I'll give 'em some slack...) It took 2.5 hours to get on the ship

~

You said you arrived at embarkation around 11:10 and were one of the first on board , but could you tell me how long you had to wait until you boarded? I'm trying to decide if I drive over (I live in SW Florida) and stay the night before and get there early or if it is worth the added expense.

Thanks!

Where were you Fiestyred? We had a small group at the M&G. We missed you.

Anyways we had a wonderful time too. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

cruisinbuddy,

We had cab issues on Saturday morning but did make it to The Stage Bar on Saturday night. I met BC Cruiser and her mother but we didn't see anyone else.

DH & I went to the M & G on Sunday morning but didn't see anyone but a few kids. You did say 9:30 right?

We had a great time too. Sorry we missed meeting the rest of the roll call.

Froufie: last march on my fam's first time on the liberty we had a very bad experience where the open cab's transmission we were on stalled and we started rolling backwards down the mountain. after that scary experience we took a regular van back to the ship and the driver told us to make sure to take a newer vehicle or van next time. so this time around thats what we did and we were fine.

honeywell: we started boarding around noon and were on the ship around 12:15.

We were also on that sailing and had a great time, lovely ship. All the food we tried was good, we ate at Harrys, the dining room, pizzaria, deli fish and chipsthe stir fry place and the mongolian grill. Alot of onboard activities on sea days, kept pretty busy with trivia games, really good bands on the Lido deck anf BINGO. Went to 2 of the late night comedy shows and they were good but none of the regular shows as I am not into them. Went to the art auctions and got some nice free prints and won 2 prints and they will be delivered to my home for $40 a peice, to have the gallery frame and mat them started at $220, I can do this myself.

I did see scrape booking stuff in the photo gallery.

We took an open air bus to Brewers Bay in Tortola with no problems. The snorkling was great, we swam out about 1/2 mile and saw tons of fish, a sea turtle and lobster.

Crew was great and pleasant.

All the ports were very nice and had been to all except Tortola and Antigua. I am seriouly thinking of booking this cruise again for 2008. Laura
