paddy Anne,

Your going to love the Liberty. We were on the Liberty 2-11-2007 as our birthday/anniversity cruise without our son. The ship cruised to Freeport, Grand Cayman and Costa Maya. We had late dinner seating in the Golden dinning room. Our server Natasha was excellent and we really enjoyed her company. I had requested a table for two and we really enjoyed our quite dinners. The food was excellent and Missy my partner had the molten cake every night. We always had breakfets and lunch at the buffet. I liked the mongolian stir fry and the fish and chips place the best. We had pizza one day too and it was great. Our cabin was excellent too on deck 6 it was 6307 I think...an inside cabin. Such a nice location and very quite. It was nice to have a mini refig. I had brought on some pepsi and kept is cool in there. The lido deck area is really fun. I enjoyed watching movies after dinner on deck. The huge movie screen was really neat. Nice to watch a movie at night under the stars with an ice cream.

As for ports we really enjoyed Costa Maya. We spent the day at Teq. beach. It was a good deal for us. They had chairs and umbrellas and we brought a package deal where your food and drinks were included. So we had a great beach day with all you can drink, mexican snacks and a meal for I wanna say 30.00 a person. They have a cruise critic discount. The water was so beautiful there. We took a cab into town and Missy got a massage for 20.00 for 45 minutes. Now that's a deal. Grand cayman was good too we just went to 7 miles beach and hung out. In Freeport we just went to the straw market and then the local casino.

You'll have to check out the shows on the ship. There were fun and we enjoyed them. The comedy shows were good too. The hot tubs in the spa were great and before dinner never crowded. The showers in the spa area were excellent too.

I'm sure you guys will have a great time. You'll have to let me know how your cruise goes.

Hope these tips help.

<<We will be on the Liberty in Jan 08. My partner and I, one straight couple, and 3 kids we share in various ways. I would love your thoughts on the Liberty.thanks,

PA

We have been on the Liberty. Beautiful ship. Not as easy as other Carnival ships to get from point A to point B but not too bad. Our favorite part of that ship is the big screen on the lido deck. We wrapped up every night watching the midnight movie under the stars. Very relaxing way to end the day I wish they would put one on every ship! lol

I would prefer Celebrity myself...can I get anybody interested in Celebrity? Or how about Royal Caribbean? But I'd be happy to join the group wherever you go...it's funny, my 2007 cruise is still a couple of months away but I am itching to start planning the next one, LOL!

Maybe we should start by saying what's our closest port? Then maybe whatever is easiest for most people to get to, we could look for cruises sailing out of there. For me it is Baltimore, but Norfolk and New York are both within easy reach.

Etoile I'm with you on the Celebrity or Royal Caribbean, but am always up to try new lines.

My Transatlantic is 34 days away and I am already starting to plan the next one. We are thinking of booking onboard to get that onboard credit, we can always transfer it to whatever we want later.

I have done one Cruise on Carnival and made the mistake of going to the Caribbean during spring break, all the onboard activities were geared toward the spring breakers which i wasn't thrilled with, however, the rest of the cruise was very nice, so I wouldn't mind trying Carnival again.

The closest port for me would be L.A. or San Diego, but my partner is in Toronto, so for us, any starting point would be okay.

This could definitely be a lot of fun!

We are doing a 3 night on the Sovereign of the Seas on 9/7. Interior cabin for 2 is only $590.

ML

Wow, 3-nt inside for $590? Wait, you mean total right, not per person? If it's total, then that's a great price! If it's per person, it's not so good...

Candies, We start ours the day after you finish. 31 days for me.

I don't think I could do a 3 or 4 day cruise, It would go way too quickly and be too sad to get off the ship. Maybe if I lived in or close to one of the port cities. But you just start to have fun and they'd be kickin' you off.

7 days is almost too short for me.

But I guess any cruise is better than no cruise :)

Wow, what a great thread! It's so good to see the girls finally getting together. We should have thought of this a long time ago. :D

My partner and I took our very first cruise on Celebrity to Alaska in May of last year and instantly fell in love with cruising. My mom's been telling me about it for years, and now I know what she's talking about.

We have another cruise planned in March 2008 with the RFamily Vacations to Mexico. It's quite a bit more than the mainstream cruises, but it will be our 10th anniversary, so we decided to splurge. We'll see if we think the extra cost is worth it.

The Celebrity cruise was fantastic, but we thought it might be nice to try a more "friendly" environment. Olivia just didn't seem right for us -- we're really not the dance-all-night partying type, and we like mingling with all types of people.

Keep up the good ideas for a cruise in the future! I'm sure we'll be ready for another one as soon as the bank accounts recover from the 2008 one.

Hi y'all,

Never having been on a cruise, we decided to go whole hog and booked a balcony cabin on the Radiance of the Seas. Not knowing if this is just the first in many cruises, or the last one, we figured why not be comfortable when in the cabin? We are on deck 7 at the back of the ship. Anyone have experience with cabin 7168?

Winnie

Hi Winnie,

You two are living our dream: "Where the RV is parked." That's what we want to say some day soon. I haven't been on Radiance, but you're gonna love a balcony cabin. Can we say "romantic?" We like to spend a lot of time in our cabin, so the space and location is important to us.

We're cruising in 3 days!! On the Westerdam to the Eastern Caribbean. When are you sailing?

We would also love to sail with a bunch of other lesbians! That would be WONDERFUL! Can we pull this off, ladies??

Single, white, 40, lesbian. Love to cruise-at least so far -as I have taken 2 cruises on the NCL Spirit and had a great time. I, like I seem to be hearing from most of you, can't justify the extra cost of an Olivia cruise. I work on Broadway-the entertainment isn't really why I go on vacation. The R Family vacation is great for Gays and Lesbians who want to be around children, but personally I'd rather be forced to walk around Times Square for a week at the height of tourist season than to be around kids for my vacation. I'm the one who prays that there won't be too many kids or teens on the cruise I have booked. At the same time, I'm not a big partier. The whole Dinah Shore weekend is almost as frightening to me as the kids. I just want a nice vacation, relaxing by the pool, visiting some great Caribbean Islands and hanging out with people who get me. Would love to be kept informed of any cruises that this group might plan out of New York. Great thread!

Welcome to the thread! I agree, it has often felt like the board is full of guys, and I am so glad there are more women participating now!

I don't think Olivia has quite the "party all night" reputation that Atlantis and RSVP have...I have always thought it was more laid-back than those. But I can definitely appreciate the desire to have a more mixed crowd.

We love the "go where ya wanna go, go when ya wanna go" lifestyle. The RV is currently parked in Destin, FL. We begin our 3d year of full time "land cruising" next month.

We begin the land tour part of the cruise on the 19th of May, and sail on the 25th.

Would love to cruise with everyone, it mainly depends on where the departure point is. We alternate between the east and west coast each year, so a cross country trip to the port of embarkation would be rough.

I'm with you BlondyX,

Even seven days seems way to short, especially since our last two were 10 and 15 day cruises. I'd do another 7 day if it's meets the needs of a lot of the folks on this thread and we could all sail together. I'd also like to get some of my friends here in Idaho to give cruising a try and 7 days as probably the max for most of them.

I keep wanting to push a few more days into the schedule each time. I'm looking at some 17 to 20 day cruises (maybe repositioning to save money and have more sea days) as our next venture...but I'm open.

Hello all

Well I am sat here trying to sort through documents for 18 people. They arrived yesterday and I am checking them all.

I am very excited, we sail April 1st with the family. My sister and her group are flying in from England, they will stay with us for a couple of days and then we fly to Houston for the cruise.

It has been alot of of planning and time on my part, so I pray everyone has a good time.

After this cruise we are going to take the Miracle out of New York in June. My partners Mom and her wife couldnt make the April one so we will sail with them in June. ( feeling spoiled but I love it)

Counting down the days now

Mel

Welcome to the new ladies!! I was surprised how male dominated this board was, it is a great thing to have more women participating :)

RV Mamas, I will be on the Jewel (sister ship of Radiance) on April 15th. We have cabin 7676, (our first aft, whoohooo). I will check out 7168 while I'm onboard and let you know. Think whoever is staying in it will mind if I knock on the door??

Mithryl, our TA is 12 days. So far that is the longest we can swing without annoying work getting in the way. When we retire, we plan on doing one of the 3 month around the world cruises. Only have to wait about 20 years!

SGNY, under normal circumstances I'm with you as far as kids on board go. I think too many people think because a cruise ship is a contained environment they can allow their kids to have the run of the ship without supervision. I do think though, from what i've seen and heard that the RFamily cruises are not like that, so we would like to try one.

frchteaze, we did Celebrity to Alaska in August last year. What ship were you on?

Hello everyone! My name is Sheri ... I'm 38, and have a 10-year old daughter. My partner, Noel, is 46, and we live together in SW Florida. I am originally from NJ - grew up down at the Shore, and lived in Sayreville for a few years before moving to Florida 5 years ago. Noel is originally from NY and moved to Florida when she was 8. She spent a number of years in the Tuscon, AZ area before moving back to Florida about 2 years ago. I am a certified paralegal and Noel is an independant contractor for the Army.

We are currently booked on the Caribbean Princess for a week, which sails on April 8, 2007. This will be our second cruise together. We went on the Rhpasody of the Seas out of Galveston in August for a week. I'm not sure I would do a summer caribbean cruise again .. it was just way too hot ... but I love cruising in the spring time.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone ... you won't see Noel here. She is not nearly as social as I am, but I visit the boards a lot, and will definitely be checking in. I would love to plan something where a group of us books on one of the big lines, but not a charter. I have no interest in an all gay cruise - never did ... I like diversity too much ... but a group of friends to pal around with would be nice. :-)

Take care,

Sheri

We were on the Mercury over Memorial Day. It was fairly crowded, but not too bad. We loved the ship and the cruiseline. Personally, I loved Celebrity's traditional style dining, but my partner prefers anything she doesn't have to dress up for. We were hoping the Rosie cruise would stay with Norwegian because of the anytime dining, but it looks like it's going to be HAL for us next, which I hear is pretty similar to Celebrity.

How did you like Alaska? I thought it was absolutely gorgeous!
