number one eagles fan Posted January 24, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2007 Can you hear your neighbors in adjoining cabins? A good cabin location has become available but it is a connecting cabin and I'm afraid we may hear our neighbors.
SheilaSailAway Posted January 24, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2007 I don't know, but we have adjoining rooms on our next cruise (tomorrow!!!) and i will let ya know! Good Luck to you and happy sails!
lv2BonBoard Posted January 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2007 We have had connecting cabins on our last 2 cruises and yes, you can hear your neighbors. We don't mind because our neighbors are our kids, but I was thinking last week on Mariner that I would not get a connecting cabin if I was next to strangers. Suzij11 Posted January 24, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2007 I think it was just like in the HOTEL when you have ADJOINING rooms.. the walls are thinner and you HEARD THEM! We had it as well, on the Granduer, with our kids... so, we didn't mind.. but if it was anyone else.. I wouldn't have liked it...
medfordgirl Posted January 24, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2007 I never book an adjoing cabin however, we had an adjoining cabin on our last cruise (we got it because of an upgrade). We had concerns, but we did not hear a sound. However, I can't say for sure if it was even occupied? Maybe we just got lucky?
Happy ks Posted January 24, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2007 We've had connecting cabins twice, not by choice and yes, we could hear our neighbors. However, it wasn't a nuisance, it was just muffled voices that we tuned out by playing music or having our TV turned on low. I'm sure they could hear us too :)
DJAM Posted January 24, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 24, 2007 We had an adjoining cabin once (also because of an upgrade ) and you can hear your neighbor through the door. Whether or not you have " good " neighbors or not is just chance.
weebo Posted January 24, 2007 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2007 What about noise at night? Will we be woken up by the "horizonal bop"? ;)
sunlover5 Posted January 24, 2007 #9 Share Posted January 24, 2007 On one of our cruises we took our daughters and our TA said since they were 21 and 23 get a cabin across the hall for them because a joining could be noisy. We have never had an adjoining cabin but on one of our cruises some people were complaining their neighbors smoked and they could smell it through that door, so just something to think about if you are not a smoker. Good Luck.
ArcticZ Posted January 24, 2007 #10 Share Posted January 24, 2007 hmm, I guess i'm a little different here but I say no. I've had adjoining cabins on the last three crusies. They were the Promenade rooms on deck 7 and 8 on the voyager class ships. And really, once the door was shut i couldn't hear anything through it. And the other family members that were sharing the adjoining rooms snores very load, and at night i couldn't hear anything.
SheilaSailAway Posted January 30, 2007 #11 Share Posted January 30, 2007 hey there! we just got back yesterday from Enchantment, we had an adjoining cabin. We could definitely hear our neighbors but it was not so bad that we would not book another adjoining cabin. we could hear their shower every morning also, at 6AM...but again, not a big deal. Can't wait for our next cruise!!!
Pumbaamd Posted January 30, 2007 #12 Share Posted January 30, 2007 We recently booked on board with the C&A LA, and she said, "Yes, that's a good cabin. It's not adjoining." That says enuf for me.
YoungPlatinumGuy Posted January 30, 2007 #13 Share Posted January 30, 2007 ....and don't forget...if its an interior adjoining cabin you will only get a 1 person chair as opposed to a loveseat. I called and requested a non-adjoining room but they said tough cookies. I survived.
Buccaneergirl Posted January 31, 2007 #14 Share Posted January 31, 2007 We had an adjoining cabin on Sovereign and yes we could hear everything! I heard them unzipping their suitcase! I am a light sleeper so it was really bad for me, but DH slept through all the noise, so we will never get a cabin w/adjoining door again!!!!!!! Loucat Posted February 1, 2007 #18 Share Posted February 1, 2007 We had an adjoining room on Enchantment. It was a family with 2 kids. Everytime they entered their stateroom, it was NOISE and more NOISE. Parents yelling at kids, kids crying etc. Never again! The door was located close to the balcony door. I would only book another with family or others that we know.:D
