saltmom1 Posted January 15, 2009 #1452 Share Posted January 15, 2009 Do the bars have non alcoholic beer like Sharps and O'Douls? They have Becker's, an English non-alcoholic beer.
saltmom1 Posted January 15, 2009 #1453 Share Posted January 15, 2009 We are looking forward to our February 15 cruise on the Legend and have opted for the open seating dining option. It is my understanding that you can request a certain waiter for service. I understand that there may be a wait to accomodate this request. However, as you know, a good waitstaff can make or break the dining experience. So my question is: Can any recent Legend cruisers recommend a good waiter to request ? Thanks, Dr. Jack Request Yotsa !!! He is the BEST !!!!

berwyn Posted January 18, 2009 #1455 Share Posted January 18, 2009 How does anytime dining work?
dakwriter Posted January 18, 2009 #1456 Share Posted January 18, 2009 You show up at the door to the anytime level of the main dining room anytime during the hours set for dinner and simply request your table size. If that size is available, you are seated right away. If yours is a small party, you can also volunteer to "fill in" at a larger table, being seated with people you probably don't know. The latter is an interesting option for extroverts because, as at breakfast in the main dining room, you get to meet a lot of different people but aren't "stuck" with any of them for the duration of the cruise if you don't want to be, yet can opt to be with them again if that's mutually agreeable. Wait staff will likely be different every night with anytime dining, but the flexibility can't be beat if you don't like to or for some reason can't keep to the fixed start time of assigned seating, which is on the other level of the dining room. And if you usually go with assigned seating but your shore excursion runs long, you can always opt for anytime dining that night, which makes for another option to dining at the buffet on the Lido. The availability of anytime dining is win-win all the way.:)

cruisebie Posted January 19, 2009 #1459 Share Posted January 19, 2009 You show up at the door to the anytime level of the main dining room anytime during the hours set for dinner and simply request your table size. Can you do anytime dining one night and then do assigned dining another? No, you have to choose one option or the other for the duration of your cruise. You do have the option to see the Maitre d' to change your dining assignment but you would need to stay with the option you change to. You can't change back and forth. You can choose to eat at the Lido buffet or order room service any night that you don't feel like going to the dining room.
hawgtuf Posted January 21, 2009 #1460 Share Posted January 21, 2009 MD Sue, we will be sailing the Legend also in April. The 19th, when do you sail? Can someone tell me if they have the big screen movie screen on this ship? thnx
ShaynaS Posted January 22, 2009 #1461 Share Posted January 22, 2009 The only time I noticed the smell of smoke was when I was in the Casino. This wasn't every time I was in the Casino, just occassionally. Your son may enjoy Camp Carnival for some of the activities. I know both of my daughters have always enjoyed it. They don't go for every activity though. (My girls didn't go on my Legend cruise, but if you check out my review of the Imagination you'll get some info on Camp. The link is in my signature. I also have a Legend review in my signature as well. Both have pictures.) I've booked with both Carnival and private operators for excursions. If I were you I'd check out reviews from other sailings as well as the port of call boards. I was on the Panorama deck, and loved it! I'm sure you will too. Beverages included are: various kinds of juice, milk, chocolate milk, lemonade, iced tea, fruit punch. I'm not sure how deep the pool was, but I don't think it was more than 6 feet. I hope I've helped you! Enjoy your cruise! :) I just looked at your sig pics of the Legend! They were great! I just wanted to say the pics of the Skyway were wonderful! We live in Tampa and drive on the Skyway ALOT! It is higher than it looks! The bridge Almost goes straight up and then down!! It is SCARY to drive on!! We went under it on the Senation and it was great! (not as scary as driving on it tho....:') Thanks for the Pics!!
Name Of The Game Posted January 22, 2009 #1462 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Are rooms on the Riviera deck in the 1100's and low 1200's noisy since they're near the Firebird lounge and under the Promenade deck?

Actually, on our recent cruise on the Legend we were told we could do anytime dining any night we chose even though we already had assigned seating on the other level. They do not keep track of who comes through the door. Thus I would advise signing up for assigned seating but use anytime dining whenever it suits your schedule. CT _Cruiser Posted February 4, 2009 #1473 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Is Jen Baxter Still the CD? We've had her a couple of times before and have never been impressed.:( Just got off the 1/25 sailing and yes, Jen Baxter is the CD unfortunately. We have had her previously as well. We couldn't stand her then and we still didn't like her. I think that she is one annoying woman. Joe
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 4, 2009 #1474 Share Posted February 4, 2009 I may be wrong, but I thought I saw a post in these threads that said JB's last cruise was at the end of January. Maybe someone on the current cruise or the 02/08 cruise can tell us who the CD is.
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 4, 2009 #1475 Share Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) A post reply on Non-Alcholic Beers on the Legend. It's Bucklers. Made by Heinkein. Doesn't taste like Heinkien, but is probably better than O'Douls, or most N/As( Kaliber seems to set the standard for N/As to beat). Frothy head. Sweet malty nose. A slight metallic/sour taste on the transition. Dry finish. Medium body. Only 75 calories, if you're counting. Certainly worth trying.
