We just got off the Summit on Friday and loved her! Great service, great food. Entertainment...not really sure since we only went to one show. The staff is incredibly nice and go out of their way to please. I am sure you can do a search on here to find people who have cruised on Summit numerous times. This was our first Celebrity cruise and we intend to do more after our experience on the Summit.

Bella ~ I feel like we are long lost friends as I've followed the Millie Saga.

I have to tell you that we have sailed Summit twice in her inaugural year. She remains among our favorite ship of all time. Yes, she and her M-class sisters, Millie & Infinity, have had their share of pod challenges, but she's a great ship. Love her layout (LOVED our cabin - a corner FV on both cruises), loved her crew, loved her size. She'll be an absolutely wonderful ship to sail on in the Med.

I'm trying to figure out how we can possibly swing it to join you :) . It's going to be such a wonderful cruise!

OH...be sure to enjoy the Specialty restaurant on Summit (Normandy)....it's outstanding! In fact, I think all of you from the July 12 sailing should have a huge celebration dinner!

We sailed Summit twice in Hawaii and loved her both times. It is far and away my favorite ship. We had a 1-A (now Concierge Class) the first time and a 2-C (both balconies) the second.

When we sailed her in January, 2006 for a RT Hawaii, one of our favorite pastimes was to order room service breakfast and sit by our open balcony door and watch the ocean go by while sipping morning coffee(DH) and hot chocolate (me).

The art is funky and modern and while not to everyone's liking, it will evoke plenty of comments. My favorites were the sequin heads in the center stairwells. I took a picture of my cousin sitting on one of the sculptures because she thought it was a chair.

The food is great and the most memorable ones were the dinners we had in the alternative restaurant, the Normandie.

Very French, Very Gourmet, very rich and very filling. If you get up to use the washroom, the waiter will escort you to the ladies room! I was glad he didn't come inside too! The Chateaubriand for two is the best piece of beef you will ever taste. Just melted in your mouth. It is only 4 courses but you get bigger portions than in the dining room and you will not go hungry. There is a cheese course which I turned down the last time so I would have room for dessert. The chocolate souffle is to die for.

The ship is well maintained and the staff is warm and friendly. Watch for the security guy who welcomes you back to the ship w/"happy, happy".

I sure wish I was going on her again.

I (and 16 others) leave for Alaska on July 20 on the Summit. I have read just about everything I can about the ship and EVERYTHING sounds TERRIFIC. I don't have a balcony cabin, just an inside but I don't even care. This is my first Celebrity experience and I am SO looking forward to it. The weather forecast for the week looks rainy and dreary but I still don't care!!! I'm sure it will be an AWESOME trip!:D

Bon voyage !;)

Hi Host Anne! I know what you mean. The silver lining about this whole mess is I think I have made some great friends! :) You should totally come on our cruise! Our "very special roll call" is rockin! It's like a support group...when we feel sad, see our planes fly off without us, etc, we are there for each other. 2 of us will be celebrating our birthday on the 2008 cruise! We can't wait! Only 364 days!!! That's 2 less than on Monday! :p

Thank's everyone for your wisdom on Summit. I can't wait!

FINALLY, someone who understands my Chateaubriand withdrawal from the Normandie LAST JUNE!!!!!! Sometimes my wife and I watch the video of Peter cutting it tableside to remember our favorite meal EVER, land or sea. We ate there 3 times and should have eaten there every night.

The SUMMIT is our favorite ship and you will have so much fun on her.

Yes it is, but if I have the room for dessert or cheese, the dessert wins every time! My DH opted for some port with cheese and is still talking about it. When we do it again, (not if, but when) we are going to do the wine pairings with the dinner. Last time there were 8 of us and 4 did not drink wine.

Hi Bella,:) I have sailed SUMMIT once and had a wonderful time too:)

I totally agree with the other folks about trying Normandie. We had

8 friends who ate there together and they put us in the "Wine Cellar":D

which was absolutely fantastic. It is a private room and you have

wine bottles surrounding you;). It was such a wonderful experience.

Our Maitr'd from the main dining room actually came down to see us

while we were dining. How nice is that!

Hi Anne, I would love to sail with this group too. Bet they will

be a joy to be around!:)

Readers,

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Summit on these boards for six months or more. Unfortunately, financial circumstances (and the lack of a roommate) are such that I've had to cancel my vacation on her for the RT to Hawaii leaving San Diego on Nov. 9, 2007. I had booked Cabin 6026, with the awesome over-sized balcony (at least 2.5 times larger than other balconies due to the cabin's position on the ship). Thanks so much to the CC posters for making me aware of the "sweet 16" group of cabins that have the oversized balconies.

It may take a day or so for the inventory to get back into the system, but if anyone is looking for a great balcony cabin on this sailing, ask for Cabin 6026.

My thoughts will be with everyone on the trip. I have 20+ friends going, and I'll be sending great karma their way for a successful and "uneventful" (read: no mechanical issues) journey.

Susan

Hey all! So now that our July 12th cruise isn't happening-everyone get me excited about the Summit! Tell me what you know! :D

I've never been on the Summit. But the pay dining room has relics and decor from the "Normandie" which some say was the finest liner ever built. And a statue in the main dining room from the "Normandie" also, and it also was for years out by the pool at the "Fontainebleau Hilton" in Miami Beach. That's enough to want to sail the Summit.
