3) 10, then 4

4) Original price $400 more pp, final price $200 pp more

5) BD to AC

6) YES

7) YES YES YES

I know you didn't want upgrades, but in June 06 we had booked our usual EE obstructed view on the Majesty and noticed the prices had dropped dramatically on the owner's suites -- had to be a mistake, since the price for the OS was $400 pp LESS than the AB's -- called NCL and after a little bit of a run-around we ended up with 903 for I believe (though I could be wrong) $200 more -- SO worth it!

Unfortunately since that one upsell call in 03, we have not been visited by the upsell fairy...:(

Does anyone know exactly how people are chosen for the upsell call??

Do they check and see what you paid for your existing cabin?? (Meaning, people who paid more $$ for their cabins are called first)

Or do they call by who booked earliest??

Or do they call first time cruisers with NCL?

Or do they call loyal NCL cruisers?

OR is it TOTALLY random?? (which seems bizarre in a way)

Only NCL knows for sure, although others have made some guesses and assumptions in how NCL might be doing this.

Howdy.

Feedback from the other end of the spectrum.

We were offered the upsell from AF mini-suite to Penthouse on the same (11th) floor for $1,000 bucks more. The original price difference for the 12 day Northern Med. cruise was about three grand. Any additional person would have added another $900 each. It was two weeks before the sail date, and we couldn't find another person with that short of a notice.

As great as doubling of the space seemed & the lure of actual bedrooms, we chose not to take it, figuring that between absence due to shore excursions and also the concern that too nice a space would be a disincentive to leave the cabin. :)

The AF balcony mini-suite was just great.

Two years ago someone posted on CC that RCCL was offering free upgrades from balcony to junior suite on our ship. When my TA called, they were all gone. Fortunately, she called again after another TA had one on hold and released it. It was sure nice to get a suite for the price of a balcony.

My son and daughter-in-law were in a mini-suite on the Jewel and two days ago they were offered an upsell to a Courtyard Villa for $1400 for the entire cruise. This is a good value and was good for us as we had a Garden Villa and now we can be close to one another and have the same perks. Great price, I thought and I was very pleased. It could be that the cruise line knew we were traveling together and that is why they got it.

My wife and I were booked on the POH in November in an AE penthouse that we had gotten a great deal on. They called us yesterday offering an A3 courtyard villa for $1,000 more. We took them up on it, as we are still saving over $4,000 from what they are selling it for on the website right now. Plus, of course, we are getting to stay in the CV!

Our only upsell.

May 2005

Norwegian Star to Alaska

5 of us traveling in 3 AG guarantees. We were upgraded to 3 AF's all in a row.

About 2 weeks before the cruise we got a call offering an upsell to a Garden Villa for the 5 of us. The price was $5,000 more. We said we'd pay $3k, but they said no, so we never got that upgrade. I still wouldn't pay $1k more a person even though I know we would have loved it.

I hope they decide to offer an upsell on the Pearl, but again we won't pay $1k a person.

1) cruiseline/ship- NCL Jewel

2) sail date- December 21st

3) days before sail date when contacted-78

4) price per person- no charge

5) from what category to the new category-AF to AD

6) did you take it-YES!

7) was it worth it?- I'll let you know after the cruise!

My only concern abou this is that we are in a Romance Suite...(yeah, big concern!lol!) But, we are now on deck 10 while the rest of my family (including our 3 kids) are all on deck 11 in mini-suites.

Had anyone ever had a roll-away (or 2) placed in the Romance Suite?

BTW, we received the call from the casino department if that makes a difference....

AD's are for 2 people only! You can not even book a 3rd person in it! There is NO space for a roll-away! The deck 11 Minis are just around the corner...so enjoy your wonderful Suite, by yourself!
