Needed...Your Most Romantic Moment On A RCI Cruise??

Recommended Posts

Hi Cruisinpat,

Our most special moment was actually on Hal - Zuiderdam, we re-did our Wedding Vows on our 40th Anniversary. Capt. Scott (who is now on the new Noordam) officiated, and it was beautifully done. We had all the newly weds, and one other couple doing their 20th, together with 4 of our friends at the celebration. They did it on Formal Night (so everyone was dressed up), there was a hugh cake etc., We were presented with an album with the vows and pictures (taken by HAL) inside (really nice), they made us feel very special.

When we were getting dressed for dinner one night, DH told me he was ready, and to meet him down in Vintages (the wine bar on the Navigator).

When I got there, he had ordered me a glass of wine and had it sitting there on the table for me. When I reached for it, I saw that he had wrapped the chain of a diamond necklace around the stem! He had bought it for me in St. Maarten that day, and surprised me with it!

Very romantic! :)

Now that's my kind of moment.

him telling me I am the most gorgeous woman on the ship - can't get better than that.

Sorry, if you travel on the same cruise with DW and I, you'll have to settle for being the second most gorgeous woman on this ship. :) Just kidding.

Our most romantic moment was easy to remember. June 24, 2001. We had never cruised before and decided to try it out. We flew to Anchorage, took the RCI transfer to Seward to do our Seward to Vancouver cruise. Day 2, after watching the beautiful glaciers, we got dressed for Captain's formal night. I wore my tux and DW looked lovely. We got to dinner and after wine arrived, I got down on bended knee and proposed. She said yes.

Our head waiter stopped by just after that and took a "recreation" photo for us that is one of our favorite photos.

Aaahhhh...you all warm our hearts and bring tears to my eyes with your lovely stories!! You have reminded us that we too have had very special moments and that those moments are made by the hearts of 2 people that mean so much to each other...thanks for sharing!! ;)

Sharon: DH and I were listening to Unchained Melody and You're My Soul and Inspiration by the Righteous Brothers when we wrote this thread!!

Keep those romantic cruising moments coming...anyone else want to share??

I love this thread. It's positive and uplifting. Thanks to the OP!

We too have had and continue to have many quiet and romantic moments together on our cruises, and after almost 27 years of marriage we still enjoy each other's company very much.

We mostly cruise RCI, but spent a wonderful, romantic 25th anniversary on The Celebrity Summit and enjoyed lots of time out on our aft balcony! We always book a balcony category since we don't participate in a lot of the cruise activities offered during the day. We enjoy sitting out there together, relaxing with a book and watching the ocean go by. :)

Order some strawberries and chocolate for your room.

Then when ****** arrives, ***** and then ***** again. When that is done, warm up the **** and **** it all over *****.

Mmmm. :D

Married to him for 40 years.

It's formal night.

We are sitting at a table in the Colony Club.

The music is playing.

I look at him...just a glance.

And right at that moment....

I saw him smiling at me...that shy, sweet smile.

My heart started racing like I was 16 years old again.

He leaned forward and said, "you're so beautiful."

Whew! I get chills when I recall it. The old man can still make my heart race.... that hasn't happened in a long time, but I'm sure glad it did!!!

thats beautiful! reminded me of my grandparents they were married for 60 years and then a month later my grandmother passed away. my grandfather still has a picture of my grannie when she was young by his chair and always tells me "look at that pretty girl"! my boyfriend and i are going on our cruise leaving sunday...i hope we have a moment just like that!

this may not be what you are looking for. But while I was getting a lemonade, DH had the pool band play our wedding song when I returned. When it started to play, he got up from the lounge chair and asked me dance. So there we were in our bathing suits dancing on the pool deck. I almost started to cry. You can't plan romantic moments, they just happen. BTW we just celebrated 23 years!

We did too - July 14th :D !

That was a really sweet thing your DH did, and I agree with you completely, the MOST romantic moments are the spontaneous ones. You just know it's true love then ;) .

Every night, when we FINALLY get back to the cabin, we sit out on the balcony, hold hands, and just talk. We've been married for thirty years, and I can think of no one I'd rather be with than that wonderful DH of mine.

He DID really surprise me once with a truly romantic moment - We were sitting in the theater, waiting for the show to begin. The Krooze Komics were milling about with their microphones, chit-chatting with passengers. DH asked to use the microphone, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him all over again. We'd been married about twentyseven years at the time, but I took him up on it! We flew to Las Vegas a few months later and renewed our vows.

Thx for sharing this experience - you are a lucky gal!

(sigh).....I am so envious of everymone's romantic moments. Hubby and I are celebrating 38 years this year and I have to say he is probably one of the most "non-romantic" people in the world BUT I know that he loves me very much. I could not ask for anyone who treats me any better in this world.

On our upcoming cruise I know there will not be any "special romantic" moments but a whole week of being loved and pampered by him and for me that is all I want in this world;)

He is my rock and my best friend.......enough said

A few years ago we were in San Juan for a couple of days pre cruise. I noticed that DH was being very protective of his breif case.

The first evening of the cruise which was my birthday he presented me with a very pretty bottle. Inside were three scrolls tied with ribbon.

Each scroll was a wish for me to determine ,which he would fulfill.

After reading that, I have to wonder . . . What does a guy have to do to be considered "romantic"??

Wow...Alcheme....thanks for the reality check:eek:

I guess I was so busy looking at other people's moments I didn't realize how lucky I am to have a lifetime of them.

Kinda like not being able to see the forest for the trees.

Thanks again,

Dianne

Okay ladies. I see the trend here is for the guys to do something romantic. Let's see some of the romantic moments that were initiated by the ladies. Remember, although most of us guys can forget to be romantic, we do appreciate romantic gestures from our better halves. So, what have you ladies done to your guys on cruises...

Let me amend that. What have you ladies done to your guys on cruises that you can post without being censored by the hosts. :)

Will you tell us what your wishes were? If you can't tell us what they were can you tell us if he made them come true?

Sure I can tell. Wish number one was to go to the Holland Tulip Festivale in Holland Michigan, just something I always wanted to do.

Wish number two was a picnic that he would plan for just us two.

Wish number three was for as many more years with him as we already have.

We've been married 30 yrs. I wasn't old enough to date when we got together. Boyfriend and girlfriend at 12 and 15 years old.

We're starting our 25th anniversary cruise planning and find ourselves wondering if RCI is the right cruiseline for this special cruise! Don't worry...we are huge RCI supporters and have had great times (including romantic ;) ) on all our cruises but this one has to beat them all! We welcome all the examples and encouragement you can give us! :D ;) :D

We were high school sweethearts that went our separate ways and met up again at our 40th class reunion. It was love at 1st sight all over again for the both of us. We've celebrated many special moments over the last 2 1/2 years and on our last cruise on the Explorer of the Seas I bought a ring and made special plans with the waiter at Portofino's to present the ring during dessert. Everything went according to plans with much help from the wait staff making it a grand surprise. They came out with the desserts with covers on them and had my SH uncover her's last and there along with her dessert was the box wrapped for her to open. After she opened it I got down on one knee and thanked her for the best 2 1/2 years of my life and I wanted nothing more then to continue on for many more years to come and proposed. Luckily she accepted. She even forgot to eat her dessert!!!!!!;)

WOW...thanks everyone for all the beautiful accounts of romance on RCI. Several posts have mentioned other cruise lines so here's my next question...

What would be your dream cruise itinerary and ship for this special romantic event?

Your moments are all truly special, so nice to have a happy thread, thank you OP :D

Our romantic moment was on the second formal night, after a fantastic evening at Portofino we went up to the pool deck to watch the sun going down. DH rolled up the trousers of his tux as I held up my long ballgown and we held hands and paddled in the pool. Suddenly DH looked up and said, everbody in the Viking Crown lounge is looking down at us and laughing do you know that???? and then he said.......god, its lucky I love you so much, I just dont care!!!! Truly a magical moment :)

There are a lot of husbands like yours out there. They are great but just not that romantic (like mine). Alot of men did not have good role models in their dads growing up (like mine). Alot are too much on the pratical side (like mine). Many take life very serious and is hard for them to really relax (like mine). It just is not in their nature.

You said alot of wonderful things about your DH..a "rock" "best friend" "loves me very much" "a whole week of being loved and pampered" "could not ask for anyone who treats me any better in this world". There are women who would trade the "romantic moments" for a lifetime of these enduring qualities and gifts.

In reality it is unusual to have it all in a partner..it is how we choose to look at them and hold dear that matters. It sounds like you appreciate him for what he gives to you on a daily basis. There are alot of women who can relate to your situation. We know exactly what you mean.

Here's another one that can definitely relate to the non-romantic hubby :)

I asked DH why he didn't ever do anything romantic or plan any surprises and he said because I do such a good job at it (I'm the planner):D When I think about that he will never plan anything romantic, I just remember that I am married to a man that is so concerned with making sure he helps me clean the house, grocery shop, run errands, do laundry, cut the grass, take the trash out, pick up dinner, cater to my every whim, be my best friend in the world, remain faithful for eternity, take care of me while I'm sick, not complain when I book a GS, AND work a 40+ hour job....well, I can understand the lack of romantic planning.

So hopefully in about a month I can post here our most romantic cruising moment. It won't be planned (except our vow renewal), but I know we'll have plenty of spontaneous happenings :)

P.S. I work too in case it sounds like I'm a lazy slug :)
