My DH and I just got our passports ordered. $113.00 for the passports and $60.00 for handling through the post office. This is a total for two. I understand you must now have a passport to enter onto the island of Barbados. Other ports are likely to follow. Anybody here of any other ports that require passports?

Tweek.

If you are arriving by plane you need them. They have issued an exception for cruise ship passengers for now. That will change in the future. Other countries are also considering this, but do not want to lose the U.S. dollars spent by tourists there. So they are treading lightly for now.

Our final Sea Pass bill for our 9/05 LOS cruise to Mex. Riviera was about $300 for two which included a Baltic amber ring, three photos and enough drinks to keep us both happy for 7 days. Bill also included the cruise line's recommended tips per person. We put the recommended tips on our ship board account and add cash to the voucher envelope as an extra bonus. Amount of cash depends on quality of service rendered.

We changed our credit card to an MBNA NCL card in 2002 following our second NCL cruise. Card racks up dollar points for future cruises. Since we always pay card balances off each month, have no interest charges.

Cashed in $1,000 in certificates recently to book an NCL cruise on Majesty, 11/04. A portion of those dollar points were earned by paying our Dawn Princess bill last December with our NCL card. Just got off RCC LOS Sunday and paid Sea Pass bill with - you guessed it, NCL credit card. By the time we get through our November cruise and complete our Christmas shopping, we'll be cashing in more NCL certificates to book an almost free cruise again for next year.

Do we have a cruise addiction? You can bet your life on it. :D I've watched DH actually whip out his NCL card to purchase a candy bar in order to rack up some extra cents towards cruise dollars.

I just don't know how you guys can have a bill of only $300 after a 7 day cruise.

My hubby and I try to keep our drinks down , but between bingo, horse races, casino, and just having fun in the shops our average bill for a 7day is around $800-$1000

We leave on a 11 day Hawaii cruise next sat, i'll let everyone know what that bill is at the end!!!!!! i'm shuddering thinking about it. But we both believe that if we can't afford to do whatever and spend whatever then maybe we shouldn't be on the cruise.

Now, don't get me wrong, we don't spend crazy, but we do enjoy ourselves. If we want wine with dinner, or want to buy something in the shops we do.

I'll keep you posted. We're back on Oct 10th so i'll present everyone with the total!!!

Our final bill for our just off cruise was $316. It included charges for four formal pictures, one embarkation photo, one drink card, one can of coke, one night of babysitting, dinner for two at the speciality restaurant, two thermoses and several orders of hot chocolate. No drinking, no spa, no bingo.

I would be thrilled to death if our seapass was ever under $2,000 for 7 days ..it will never happen. Last cruise in March topped that and we paid cash for tips, No photos at all (they were all terrible) , No shopping on the ship, no booked excursions..(did our own)...

All time high Seapass was $4,016.00 for a 3 night a month after 9/11....Never again, that was insane!!!!!!!

Our bill for our last cruise...which was the Adventure of the Seas 9/5-9/12/04...ended up being just under $1800.00. About $200 to $300 of that was ship to shore phone calls and internet service (we had to call home almost everyday due to Hurricane Ivan)...about $400 was casino...and the rest were drinks, spa, bingo and souveneirs. We brought on 4 bottles of wine, 2 bottles of champagne and also purchased the 7 day wine package.

We usually average about $750 to about $1250 for a 7 day cruise.

Happy cruising to all!

$354 for my wife and myself for 7 days on the Rhapsody. That included charging our tips for both of us to our SeaPass card (we added some cash to the envelopes for our room steward and waiter who were wonderful), $100 in chips in the casino (I pocketed $45 of this at the end of the cruise after cashing in the leftover chips), one cocktail (we're not big drinkers), two sodas, two 8x11 photos from formal night, one bingo card, and some miscellaneous internet charges to keep track of the kids while we were gone. We almost always book our own excursions, hardly ever shop in the on-board shops, and never opt for the little "extras" like Seattle's Best Coffee, after dinner coffees, etc. that really add up. The ship and the ports have more than enough to keep us busy without having to pay for numerous extras. In four previous cruises, we always stayed under $1000 even when we were cruising with two teen-agers.

On our recent 7 night cruise we dropped about $1,000 on our SeaPass. I was drinking like a fish and we included tips on it as well. Also spent a few hundred bucks in cash in the ports for taxis, trinkets, food, and tips....

I am glad I am not the only one. I did not know you could get away with under a grand. :D The sea pass bill does not worry my hubby---it is the Visa charges at the jewelry store that scares him.

If you could have seen his face when my then 12 year old son came up to me with a nice gold chain---and then 13 year old daughter with a nice tanzanite and diamond ring---and they said---the guy said he would throw the necklace in for free---------hehehe----Hubby said---with what your Mom is getting---that is small change.......

Gotta love Joe's Jewelry---and the Heinies they love to pass out.........

We average about $200.

One time we did spend $3500 on a 7 days cruise and that did not include tips or the jewlery that we bought my wife on the Islands.

We bought 3 pieces of Art works from the auction, they were numbered edition and framed. Speaking of Art works check out these one of a kind paintings of the Voyager and Jamaica.

Racking up $4016.00 for 3 days was nuts and I'd never do it again....

drinks, wine, pictures, casino...it rained for the whole cruise.... Biggest mistake was telling my husband he could get cash on the seapass for the casino so I'd have to say that was the bulk of the expense.....we paid cash for tips and a prepaid shore excursion to Atlantis.

As I said.......it was nuts!!!!!!!!

My mom and i just got home an hour ago from Voyager of the Seas..we had a 10 day cruise and our bill together was $760.00. But that doesnt include the amount we lost in the casino( lol :-) and excursions (we did our own). But our dinner guest had a bill of $4000.00 (1000 alone in the spa)..so it depends on the person..i also went with a very stingy friend to Canada on a 5 day cruise in July and our total bill was $96.00 (including tips for both of us)...hope this helps..Michelle

Just back from the Explorer where we had a $250 credit for the day late sailing. We only spent $150 of it. We got the rest in cash from the Casino to take home. We are not drinkers and did not book our excursions through RCI. I used the laundry service and bought pictures. We ate at Portofinos. We tipped extra when we had the opportunity. Having that credit made my cruise experience much better!

Well, it looks like you and Marc had a really good time. I am glad to see you back and posting.

When you get the chance, email me and let me know how that cruise was and what you thought of the ports. We have done Mexico a couple of times, but not those ports. We have Disney next June, so figured if possible that cruise might fit in the budget at the end of next year. :o
