Tone...I'm a TA and I just wrote the St.Kitts Marriott to ascertain that same info. When I receive a response I return to this thread and leave all the info.

Kitty & Tone...I've been corresponding with Juan Pablo, the night manager at the resort. According to Juan, day passes are figured into the daily seasonal rate. I'm still pending another response with all the information concerning the day pass. When I receive his email, I will copy and paste it here on the thread.

We will be in St Kitts on March 3rd. I am really interested in any information about the rate during that time. I would love to email the resort, but cannot pin point an email addy. I guess I can just call to get the information.

I have gotten a response from Juan about the day rates. He says that no reservations are needed and the rate for a day pass is seasonal. I just want a ball park figure for my March 3rd date. I assume that it will probably be the $125 rate that I have been seeing in the threads.

I did email him back and wanted a "ball park" figure. We just need to know what we will be doing on St. Kitts.

Hey Vicky...Sorry about the Steelers. I was actually routing for them because I'm a Titans fan. We play the Chargers today. I'm getting mixed feelings from Juan concerning the Marriott. I received a similar email like you did but I'm beginning to think he is off the mark. I'm going to contact the hotel manager directly. I have my reservations about Juan. It seems he doesn't want to provide us with anything difinitive.

Does anyone know if the Marriott is the only beach where you can find a little shade - ie the umbrellas? I hear that the beach in St Kitts is absolutely beautiful but I have to be very careful about sun exposure. My doc would have my head if he knew I was planning on a day in the sun! I'm hoping the beach there will be as pretty as the one we found in Antigua.

I think that we are going to Frigate but we are going to play it by ear. Maybe it may be a day that we try the bars along the beach and maybe try out the casino at the Marriott. We still may try to do the day pass thing, but I feel comfortable enough to just go on the fly this day. Let me know if you all get in touch with Marriott for the pricing in early March.

thanks,

We are headed for Antigua in March. What beach are you talking about? How far from the ship and can you rent chairs and umbrellas?

that a bummer about the marriott. I don't want a room there. I just want a day pass that includes use of their facilites (pool, beach, drink, food). I have heard that the st. kitts frigate bay beach is crawling with obnoxious vendors. Since I will be alone, I'd really prefer not to have to fend them off.

Does anyone know of any other private or hotel resorts?

There are no other resorts on St Kitts that have what you are looking for except the Marriott. The vendors on the beach will usually leave you alone if you give them a polite not. I have not found them obnoxious as you suggest.

After reading a lot on these boards about the Marriott, I am going to go ahead and call them about the "day pass" or possibly a room. We are only there from 8 to 3 but love to have a room to go to. We have done this at Atlantis in Nassau and it works out perfectly. I'll post of how it went upon our return.

Will be interested to hear more.

We did a day pass in Nassau at the British Colonial Hilton--it was perfect--could easily have just had lunch looking out at the water & cruise ships but I enjoyed the pool

The Marriot sounds best for us in St Kitts--not into beach bars or the food shacks--

we did a day pass in October at the Marriott. We took a cab (brand new a/c van) from the pier. He took us on a tour of the salt pond area and down to Cockleshell beach. It didn't look like a place I wanted to stay for the day. We could see the Marriott from the top of the mountain and asked him to take us there. It is an absolutely beautiful resort. We inquired about a day pass and were told $75 for 4 people. There was 8 of us so we asked at the desk about a suite. For $125 we got a one bedroom time share type unit on the first floor near the pool and beach. It was wonderful. It was a cloudy cool day and the beach was totally empty (except for one vendor and a young boy with a baby monkey named Sammy, that I adored). We hung out at the pool, had drinks from the swim up bar and listened to the great DJ who was playing outside. Hit the casino and had something to eat. The cab driver, Joe, wouldn't take a penny from us when he dropped us off and asked what time we wanted to be picked up. He was there at 2 PM when we went out front and the cost for the tour and his wonderful knowledge was $15 pp. We are returning on the same cruise this year and are planning on doing the same thing, hopefully with better weather. Hope that helps. It was very quiet there at the end of October, not really in season there.
