We have 2212 & 2216 on the Splendor. I would LOVE to see pics when you get back!! Please/ My email is in my sig below. From the pics on here we will be quite happy.

I appreciate all the info from everyone, as always Cruise Critic is the best with answers.

I also have pics of 6232. I don't know how to put them on here but will email them.

Keep the great info flowing!

Happy Cruising,

Donna

For future consideration(from cruisedeckplans)

Spirit class 1A's

Cabin 1111 (1A ISTW) 185 sq ft

beds: twin/king rab:0

Cabin 1247, 1249, 1255, 1257, (1A ISTW) 185 sq ft

beds: twin/king rab:0

I didn't look at every deck 1A but this looks to be true for the 5 1A's on the rivera deck

They have 1A cabins, yes, but NONE have upper/lower beds. All have two twins that can be combined.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the mattress quality and width in a 4A vs. a 1A on the Fantasy class ships? Currently, we have an IS booked for a family of 4 on the Inspiration but it would only cost a little more for two 1As instead. But DH is very picky about a comfortable mattress so that would be the sole deciding factor.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thank you

The mattress in the upper bunk we had a few years ago was not the same as was on the lower bed. It was not as comfortable. I am a big guy also and gave up climbing up there every night. I just pulled the mattress and bedding off and stuck it on the floor. Threw it back up there the next morning. The room steward must of thought I was a very restless sleeper.

I am trying to confirm that 8357 on the Conquest is one of the few rooms with a double bed or two singles that can be pushed together. I have this room booked. Thank you. I've used the search function, but it is still unclear to me. I appreciate the help.

Celebration & Holiday have some 1A cabins, but w/ only one porthole each.

Holiday has 4 1A cabins on Upper deck aft - that have a full-size window and not just a porthole. They are funky-shaped with a support pole in the middle of the cabin, bunks not twins that can be pushed together - but for the price!!! My boys love it! Because otherwise they'd be inside.

Well, I decided to switch to 6393 since I know for a fact by Don's pictures that they are two singles. The Carnival rep argued with me and made a note on my reservation that she warned me, lol. I told her I saw pictures of it, and that I had a minimum of 16 cruises under my belt so I knew the risk I was taking and go ahead and book me in there (all very nicely of course).

This is for the Conquest ship out of Galveston. I loved the location of 8357 but I just couldn't take the chance of it being one upper and one lower.

Edited to say that the rep showed 6393 as a double, one upper and one lower, but it in fact is a triple. I wonder why their information does not show that?

Because if they showed it as a triple, then Carnival would have to allow 3 people in the cabin, when in fact 1As are a max of 2. They have to show it as a double.

Gotcha. Btw, I was hoping you would reply because I am aware that you have researched the Conquest. Thanks.

Marie,

You're absolutely right. I was in 6393 on Conquest just last month. (July 6)

Two twins on the floor pushed together and an upper. It was an unbelieveable cabin. You'll love it!

I was originally assigned 1435 for my 1A guarantee, and when I saw 6393 was open, I snatched that one instead.

It's in a perfect location, literally steps away from the stairs for the casino, coffee bar, and dinner. And the laundry is practically next door.

My ONLY issue was the teenagers hanging out in my hallway at 2 a.m., otherwise other guests just passing through were pretty quiet.

If John is still the stateroom steward, say hi for me. :D

Thanks, Michele. I believe I read some of your review. It was a solo cruise for you wasn't it? I do some solo cruising, and love it. Dh will be on this one with me(not until 2010) but my upcoming 24 day is a solo one. The majority of my solo cruising has been on HAL, but I have done one on Carnival, and one on Celebrity.

It was indeed a solo cruise for me. My first one, as a matter of fact. I've since gone on another solo cruise on Holiday and have one booked on Triumph.

I'm hooked now...it's so nice doing things on my own schedule. I've traveled solo all around the world, I don't know what took me so long to do it on a cruise. Better late than never!

You sound like me, lol. My first solo(HAL, Canada/NE) was in 2004 and I had so much fun, I came home and booked another one for just two months later to Alaska(also on HAL). I am very happily married, 25 years, and some people can not understand why I would cruise without my dh, but I say, why not?? He is very supportive. I've cruised with family/friends, but now, I prefer to go on my own with the exception of dh. And, if they MUST come along, I highly discourage it, and they must get their own room :).

Yep, we got 2462 (us) and 2465 (single friend) next week on the Conquest in fact. :D Leaving Sunday.... so close!!!

I got 2465 (our friend has 2216 for that cruise, way down the hall) next year on Conquest and a 1A guarantee for Jan 09 on Ecstasy and a assigned 1A on Triumph Dec 09. Just color me cheap. I love bargains, so I do more research on the 1As I admit it.

Now just have to fit Voyager of the Seas in the spring and Im all set for next year.

We are wondering about putting 3 to a cabin instead and looking at those front 4G, hahhahaaahha, looks like a good bargain to me. 1001 and 1002 both hold 3 and I think are handicapped, which would help us. 2 are mobility challenged, so if we get a bunk, you know which of the 3 of us will be climbing that ladder, moi. So, Im seeking out cabins that are good values that hold 3 too, instead of two 1As.

I am all about bargains too :). WOW, you are leaving Sunday on the Conquest. How exciting. Have a wonderful, wonderful time. I will be looking for your review.

We are cruising on the Voyager Feb. 22, 2009. We are traveling with another couple and it will be their first RCI. It will be my dh's first Voyager Class ship. I cruised on the Mariner in 2004.

I loved Voyager, maybe we will meet on that ship if not a Carnival ship. I am waiting until they start the last minute $499 inside guarantees on Voyager hahahhahahah. Im so bad huh?? I just have to work around the Jan 24 Ecstasy date already booked. Well, actually we covert a PR cabin if we can get one for a little more, but I wouldnt pay a lot more.

I considered that too!! :). We are in a PR room. We got an OK resident discount that is no longer offered. Unfortunately, we decided too late to use our C & A coupon for that date. Oh well, I try not to think about it. We have the RCI Visa Card(pay it off monthly) so will have either some OBC or a discount off the cruise. Hope to meet you one day.

My apologies for the threadjack.

Thanks so much. It looks like a wonderful site. To join it is 11.99 and at this time I am not sure I would use it much. It does look great though.
