$100 Carnival Players Club

Recommended Posts

Hi. I wanted to post this to the old thread but it seems the search feature never works on this site anymore.

A month ago or so someone posted a link for a $100 casino credit for signing up your email to the new carnival players club. They received a postcard giving them access to this credit. The also posted a link that allowed others to print off these coupons. I tried to use one of these coupons on my 5/18 Valor cruise and was told I was not on the list. No harm in trying but just wanted to let others who knew about this to not waste there time trying to get this credit unless they actually received the postcard from the players club.

I did receive my $200.00 credit for being a past player club member so I wasn't disapointed. I did take about 2 days to get the $200.

You can go to the ocean players club website (they may change this around once they convert to the carnival players club. There is an option under cruising again or contact us. You fill in your booking number, and other info just put all 0's in the players club number slot. A couple days later they will send you an email telling you that you are on the list. You may be eligible for a credit as well but that depends on how much you played on your past cruises. Some people get credit some get none.

You are rated on the amount you play and how much you play. If playing slots this is done automatically if you have your card inserted. Playing table games you have to give your sign and sail card to the dealer and they will in turn give it to the pit boss. Some other posters stated that they will only rate you if you play $25.00 per hand but I found that if you develop a good rapport with the pit boss and gamble every day that they will rate most of your play. On my May 18 cruise I was called by name by all the dealers any time I was in the casino and I was only playing $5 to $10 per hand and was my norm on my last cruise. Your results my vary.

Thanks. I just sent them emails for both me and my husband. I included my past cruise and future cruise info. Then I was reading around the site some more and it seems the same club is for Princess cruises too. I wonder if I should have emailed them my Princess cruise info?

I'm not trying to be a naysayer here, but I think you might be misinformed. I have been a member of OPC for years and while the program has changed a lot during that time and is currently undergoing a change again, I've never heard of anyone getting anything close to a $100 OBC.

I do play slots and I usually take $1200 to $1500 to gamble with for a week. I do get lots of drinks bought for me by the casino hosts and in the last few cruises have started getting strawberry's and a $5 playing chip and a drink coupon upon embarkation.

When I was on the Conquest in February this year, I took 1200 to gamble with won $2000 on the Wheel of Fortune paid 500 against a 1200 S&S card and gambled all but 300 away in the casino.

When I was on the Valor in May this year, I took the 300 left over from the Conquest, plus 1200 of my cash, won $1000 on the Wheel of Fortune, paid 250 against my 800 S&S bill and didn't come home with anything.

I always let them know when I'll be back on board and supply them with my past guest, past ship and past folio number......I think the reported 100-200 OBC might just be Urban Legend......they don't seem to need to "bribe" anyone to play in the casinos...:p

So I guess you are calling me a liar then? Here is the email they sent me.

Hi Phillip,

Thanks for contacting the Ocean Players Club!

We're glad to hear your sailing again! After reviewing our records we would like to offer you $200.00 in either chips or tokens. Please present a photo I.D. to the Cashier's Cage onboard and they will grant you this amount. Also, we have placed you onto our OPC guest list. Hope you have a great cruise and the best of luck while spending time in the casino!

Best Regards,

Ocean Players Club

I presented this email and 2 days later they gave me 200 in cash at the casino cage with no requirements to play or anything. Others on this site have reported similar. However the point of this post was to report that the $100 coupon's did not work.

It isn't an OBC -- it is a casino credit and anything unused is forefited. After reading this post I went to http://ebm.carnivalfunmail.com/s?aid=982238741&o=1&n=81 registered hubby and in less than 5 minutes an email with a link to teh coupon was in my inbox. It has his name on it and it expires May 1, 2009.

If it is a fake -- no harm no foul, no "real" info is provided.

Yes that is the promotion I am referring too. It will not work unless they sent you a postcard or other invitation to join. But like you said you can certainly try if you like, I did, the worst the can say is no.

And they'll be saying no to hubby, not me! :D

I also sent the OPC an e-mail inquiring about my "level" and they sent me the same e-mail you received except I'm getting $100--so I believed you right away!!!

I just sent off an email to the Players Club inquiring if the coupon is valid with or without a post card or if some of their casino hosts are just not honoring it...Because if it is not good they should not have sent it they should have sent something asking if you got the post card & then directed you accordingly. I will post when I get some kind of answer from them.. ;)

The problem is that anyone can go to that link and get the coupon which looks valid. I think it is a little misleading as well. But I guess I didn't really expect to get the credit. I also printed one off for my gf but didn't bother trying to redeem it after they refused mine. The take the coupon at the cash cage and then check with the home office I guess to see if you qualify or not.

My thinking is that there will be hundreds of these floating around for a promotion they intended to keep very limited and that they will not honor any of the ones that are not valid. Most of us never received anything from carnival for this promotion we just went to the site and printed the coupon off. When I tried to use mine I read the email the cash cage guy had attached to it from home office. It said that my name was not on the list for this promotion.

Did you have to complete an IRS W2G for those winnings?

Dave,

I won $1700 on my last cruise (June 2006) and before I got any money I had to fill out the tax form. Even though I ended up ahead, I still had enough 'losses' (i.e., instant tickets purchased at home, etc.) that I didn't need to pay taxes.

Also, I contacted Carnival for a statement of my winnings/losses, and they sent me a letter with all of the information.

I posted this a couple of weeks ago on another thread about the same exact topic but thought it was worth repeating..... PLEASE READ & PAY ATTENTION to paragraphs 3-4 and 5 in his answer to me....

PLEASE DON'T MAKE A COPY OF THE COUPONS AND THINK THAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET THE $100.... READ BELOW...

OCEAN PLAYERS CLUB Update...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I emailed Carnival the following:

As I'm sure you are aware, there is quite a bit of confusion over at the Cruise Critic boards re: what the heck is happening with the Ocean Players Club....

So, can you please tell us what is really going on, i.e, are there still any perks, and if so, what are they and what do you have to do to obtain them? Is the "Bring A Buddy" promotion still going on? Can some of us still expect some type of "present" from the Casino or has that stopped?

Whatever info you can give us would be greatly appreciated because, like I said, so much confustion. Also, I would like to be able to post your answer to me on the Cruise Critic thread so I need your ok for that too...

Thanks for your response.

Elaine

Below is the answer I received...

Dear Elaine,

Please allow me to clarify some issues and then you can post the details on Cruise Critic if you wish.

Firstly the Ocean Players Club is still in existence however some of our member lines, notably Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises and Holland America Line are introducing their own players clubs branded to their cruise line. These will still fall under the umbrella of the Ocean Players Club which will remain as a corporate entity across all of our many brands much like the 'World's Leading Cruise Lines'. As the individual cruise lines develop the new players clubs and the casino marketing you will see more offers and special events for players club members geared to each lines overall marketing programs. This is good news for all casino players and cruisers!

Certain promotions such as the "Bring a Buddy" offer will change from time to time dependent upon what other current offers and promotions are available. The current postcard promotion recently sent out by Carnival Players Club was sent to a limited group based on certain criteria and is only valid for those individuals who were sent the postcard. While others who have located the landing/registration page online may have been able to print the coupon, it will not be usable or valid during their cruise.

Other email offers will be following soon to all members whose email addresses we have.

If possible could you please ask your fellow Cruise Critic participants to remove the link to the landing/registration page for the postcard offer as this is only causing confusion and I wouldn't want our members to be disappointed when they go on the cruise only to find out the coupon they printed mistakenly is not valid.

We are working diligently to create a variety of great offers and benefits for all members of the new players clubs. There will be many more promotions in the coming months as we endeavor to service our repeat guests and valued casino clients.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Bob Bender | Marketing Manager | Carnival Corporation Casino Division | Ocean Players Club

Hope the above helps a bit.... Obviously if we have more questions, it seems that they are extremely ready to answer them and help....

SO PLEASE DON'T COME BACK and say Carnival didn't honor the coupon, Carnival didn't give me the $$$$ they promised me etc... It's only meant for those who never gave Carnival their email address and got the postcard....

Oh, and I have also gotten the letter above re: go to the casino and get your $$$s but mine was only $75.... But heck, I was happy with that amount.... they really don't have to give me anything to get me into a casino!!!!

I also tried using the $100 credit coupon on the Inspiration on 5/29/08. My name was not on the list so I didn't get it. I did receive a letter in my cabin awarding 500 points and a free drink (as a result of completing info on OPC site about coming back onboard I guess) After all I lost on this cruise maybe I will get something for my November Legend cruise. Still had a wonderful time.

I didn't have any coupon and hadn't gone to the OPC site, and got a letter delivered to my cabin awarding 500 points and a free drink, too. Took the letter to the casino host, Martin (a really nice guy, spent lots of time with us and always said Hi when he saw us even if we weren't in the casino). He asked me to fill out a registration form, and be sure to include DH's email too so he could be registered. Gave both of us a free drink. Guess I'll see if anything comes of it in the future. Either way, the extra 500 points got me to the $10 credit a lot quicker!
