Can we rebook??? We're pregnant!!

Recommended Posts

Just found out today that we are pregnant with our first!!! We are absolutely thrilled!!! It will be strictly virgin foo foo drinks for me on the Majesty in 3 weeks!
Now, for the next cruise in October on the Enchantment...I don't think we can go. I will be 7 months along by then and I seem to recall that you are not allowed to cruise in your 3rd trimester (Nor would I even want to)! So, here's my question: I booked this October cruise with buycruises.com, put down the 200 dollar deposit, and my credit card is to be charged for the remaining balance this August. I also bought the RCCL insurance. Can I cancel that cruise on Enchantment and rebook a cruise for this June? Or maybe something for 2005? What about my 200$ deposit? I will call buycruises but I have not done so yet, I just wanted to know what to expect. Thanks for your help!!

If your cruise is not until October and the final payment is not due until August you should be able to cancel and get all your money back with no penalty regardless of insurance. If you want to cruise in June you should be able to switch the booking and the deposit along with it to another cruise.

Congrats on the baby!

"We are pregnant", that's interesting. Unless you're both female, and there's two babies on the way, I need to go check a dictionary and see if the meaning's changed since the times my wife was pregnant.

Anyway, congratulations - however many you're having.

Thanks Superjerry! I was hoping I wouldn't be penalized.
Mark: The reason I say "We" is because I want hubby to feel connected, bonded, and involved with this whole new wonderful phase of our life we're entering into. Sorry for the confusion.

Snowbun3,

Keep using the "we're pregnant" terminology! It is very sweet, sensitive & shows you are both a part of this pregnancy.

Since your hubby was a contributing factor in the conception, plans on being supportive during the gestational period, & intends to be there for the delivery he will probably be going through a sympathetic pregnancy with you anyway. Not to mention that dad will have to endure all the hormonal mood swings with you. It is a proven medical fact that many fathers-to-be actually gain weight during this 9 months just like the mom does. (Look that up Mark_K!)

Congratulations & best wishes for a healthy, happy baby!

snow...first congrats...second...rebook for this June...go before the baby...enjoy your time together...and third...I love when people say "we're pregnant"...after all he may not be physically...but I think it helps connect the Dad-to-be to the pregancy...when they hear us say it in those terms. I love the idea of co-ed Baby showers too! We did and the guys had a great time.

Unless my medical facts are wrong, for a human pregnancy it takes two parents, one father and one mother. In this day, I believe the expression "we're pregnant" is equivalent to saying "we're expecting."

What a very happy time for the both of you!
Can't answer your question, but the rebooking
earlier is a splendid idea. My DH and I cruised
when our 1st born was 11 mos old and I thought
I'd die from missing her. Turns out she learned
to sleep thru the night, and the GP's thoroughly
enjoyed her. You might consider a later option
also, but that's certainly harder to plan.
Have fun! CSW

Congrats!! I agree with the above posters, keep using the "we're pregnant" term, it captures the situation well.

Buycruises does not have a cancellation fee, so you can make whatever arrangements work best for your situatuion. This is why when I'm not booking as a part of a group cruise, I will use Buycruises.

I'm going to disagree with the majority here. "WE" are not pregnant. "I" am pregnant. I am the one one who is gaining weight. I am the one whose body is being stretched to its capacity. I am the one who has to get shots and get blood drawn. I am the one who has to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes. I am the one who has a hard time getting comfortable at night. I am the one who has to give birth. I am pregnant. My husband is NOT.

BTW, congratulations!! You have a wonderful journey ahead of you. At least you get to go on two cruises before baby comes!!

Congrats on the new baby...it is one heck of an exciting time!

Note to the new father...try to go to all the OB/GYN appointments...walk into the room when your wife is hooked up to the monitor, do not say a word, then after you hear the baby's heartbeat, say something to it....I remember each and everytime I did that the baby's rate would soar...He knew I was in the room. Meaning he knew me before he was even born, and the only person that could get that response out of him as a fetus was me. Kinda cool...16 years later, he still listens...well ocassionally

Yes, you both are sharing the experience of new life, but SHE is pregnant...make no mistake about it..

I know some won't agree, but that's my take on it.

Hi Folgy, I agree that Beth hit the nail on the head. If I am not mistaken she is talking from present personal experience! Am I right, Beth? If so, my congratulations to you as well as the original poster. Happy, Healthy babies to both of you!! As one who just welcomed my fifth grandchild, there is nothing like the birth of a new life. BethCarp,

Hear, Hear.

"I am pregnant", "We're having a child". (Well, not you and me, but you get my drift.)

Just out of curiosity how is your husband coping with your fluctuating, hormone-influenced mood swings?

I understand that the woman bears the stress to carry the child to term, but the man goes through a lot of changes during this time too. (Physically, mentally, spiritually & emotionally.) Let's give him some credit for being more than just the sperm donor!
