tlampley Posted January 21, 2010 #601 Share Posted January 21, 2010 Deck - 11 Cabin # - 1623 Class – AQ Starboard or Port Side - Port Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet, there are no service doors across the hall. There are cabins above and below and on both sides so VERY quiet! Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – no obstructions, wonderful view! Thanks Captain Kafetzis for backing into Labadee to give port side a beautiful view! Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal size, it fit my wife and I and our breakfast every morning comfortably. Was wind a problem? We didn't notice much wind at all, probably because this cabin is behind the hump If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a Any specific problems with this cabin? Only cabin problems were that the battery in the safe went out so we had to call someone to change the battery and let us back in the safe. Also, the batteries in the TV remote went out, and the batteries in the wireless keyboard were out when we boarded. I'm sure it was just coincidence that all the batteries died on our watch... but all are fixed now, fresh batteries for all! Any other comments? My only complaint about this cabin lies with the cabin steward Robert. He seemed new to Aqua Class and did not freely offer up any of the AQ amenities to us... we had to do our own research on the special amenities for AQ and then request specifically what we wanted. Another thing that bugged me was that Robert came to introduce himself to us just as Muster drill was starting and proceeded to try and talk to us over the muster drill announcements. I told him that we could not hear him and to wait until the announcements were done but he kept right on talking... not the best first impression! Also, the refrigerator was completely stocked full of "for sale" drinks and snacks. I asked Robert to empty the fridge so we could keep our water cold and save the milk from room service breakfast... he replied that we could empty it ourselves and directed us to put all of the items in a cabinet! We're pretty easy-going so we gave it a try but soon found out that we needed the extra cabinet space. So I had to ask Robert again to please remove the items from our cabin. He did remove most of them, but he left behind several items which was frustrating. And, no towel animals?! We were bummed that we didn't get any towel animals. He wasn't completely disappointing however. He did keep our ice bucket full of fresh ice. And he kept the cabin clean and stocked with fresh towels. I can sum it up as Robert just didn't seem to be delivering the same immaculate service that we received everywhere else on board this beautiful ship. N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? None Any other comments? Beautiful ship. Liked the shower in the Aqua class with extra sprays. Our cabin attendant, Prezar (probably spelled wrong) from India was outstanding. We had all of the Aqua Class amenities every day. The only thing we did not get was towel animals, but who really cares? It probably saves laundering of extra towels, so may be a way for cruise lines to “go green” and save money. __________________

Did not connect. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. –- This is the last cabin/balcony way down hall on PORT SIDE before you reach the aft cabins & a suite. We had a great view of ocean!! To the left of our balcony and out of our view was where the device to wash windows & balconies was stored. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? -- Over-sized, being last cabin on side. Was wind a problem? Not at all!! If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? None Any other comments? Also had a problem getting used to how to use all the room's light controls. We especially appreciated the very low-level light in bathroom that was on all the time, when you had not turned on light switch -- this was very handy at nighttime. Too few drawers in cabin I think. We had a hard time fitting in our undies, bathing suits, socks etc. On HAL ships there is a wire basket in closet for extra small things -- that would have helped the situation. The overhead storage we used for our winter coats and my empty purse. (We boarded on the VERY COLD Jan 10.)

Giorgi-one Posted January 28, 2010 #606 Share Posted January 28, 2010 This is great info. Maybe this is already done but would it be possible to include the date for the update on the Spreadsheet. Also, is there a continuous link to the spredsheet or is it just available when the author posts it. I do not see an update for quite a while - have to search every page of this thread backwads to find the latest update.

schrodinga Posted January 31, 2010 #610 Share Posted January 31, 2010 Deck - Resort Deck (that's the one with the pool on, right...?) Cabin # - 2128 Class – Sky Suite Starboard or Port Side - Hmmm, dunno.... Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Bath Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Noisy cabin. Directly below buffet dining, often noise in the morning and dinner time from rolling trolley's, dropped dishes and heady footsteps. Also frequent bangs of pipes at around 9am most mornings. Non connecting. Balcony View - No obstructions, good visibility of ship but still good degree of privacy. Balcony Size? Normal Was wind a problem? Slight, but nothing to unduly worry about. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Nope. Any specific problems with this cabin? Noise as mentioned above. Butler was very friendly, sometimes scarily so - but could just be us, we're definitely not use to such over zealous service! Any other comments? Disappointed with Celebrity complaints/follow up service. Made a complaint on board regarding the amount of work going on (inhibiting entry to pool area, climbing over cables and contending with work noise by pool and solarium). Onboard complaint was very much brushed aside. Leaving card comment was never followed up as was the post-cruise email questionnnaire. Why ask for an opinion if you don't follow up? Otherwise cruise was good - cabin was a nice size, food was amazing and service was exceptional.

Because the balcony is between the struts for the lifeboats, you can see down to the water. While seated on the balcony, it is possible to see over the top of the tender out to the water. If standing at the rail on the balcony, the view over the tender to the water and horizon is good. I would not hesitate to book this cabin again. It was very quiet and was not connecting. Balcony size: Normal Was Wind a Problem: No. If an Aft Cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any Specific Problems with this cabin? Non with the cabin itself. Our cabin steward was probably the worst we have ever had. Any other comments? This ship was the most beautiful ship we have ever sailed on after about 40+ cruises. STXCruisers Posted February 2, 2010 #613 Share Posted February 2, 2010 This is a great thread and I check it out regularly looking for our cabins on upcoming Solstice cruises. I notice that the spreadsheet has not been updated for some time, so I went snooping. It appears Mysticks has not posted anything since September. I am sure that keeping the spreadsheet took a lot of time - and maybe she finds herself short on time these days? Doris Anyway, thanks Mysticks for all the time you put into compiling this information.

Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet except for the neighbours next door who were clearly born in a barn and left the deadbolt deployed to keep their cabin door from closing and just let it slam when they went in and out. Not what would be considered an issue with considerate fellow cruisers. The cabin does connect to 6315. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Right in the middle of the aft cabins, looking straight out onto the wake from the ship. Excellent location. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal depth but probably the widest balcony of the deck 6 aft cabins. Was wind a problem? No. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Soot was an issue but would be less so with an attentive steward. A wipe of the chairs and table with a towel, along with wearing footwear, would overcome the issue for the most part. Any specific problems with this cabin? None. Any other comments? I would have expected with an aft cabin that the 'commute' to the elevators would be longer but it was quite alright.
