Ship: Equinoxmenupop.gif

Deck - Sixth

Cabin # - 6243

Class – 2 C obstructed balcony

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin ( With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet - not connecting

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – View not really obstructed except if looking straight down, not a problem.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized, angled and part of the hump. Biggest complaint, deck 5 smoking section (seating) was right below and heavily used throughout the cruise. Definitely affected our use of the balcony and ability to leave the doors open.

Was wind a problem? No

Any specific problems with this cabin? Other than the smoke from below, no.

Any other comments? Loved being mid-ship, near the stairs and elevators, very convenient. Too bad about the smoking, otherwise a great room.

I have been trying to find the linkto the spreadsheet listing all the cabins but can't seem to find it here. Could you let me know how to find it please?

I am very concerned about the smoke rising from deck 5 as posted here. We are in 7239 for the TA and need to know if it will affect this cabin.

Thanks

Ship - Solstice

Deck - Vista

Cabin # - 8277

Class – 1B Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom w/ Veranda

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Quiet but see note below regarding elevators.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Hump cabin, excellent view all directions.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? No.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin?

Any other comments? The good news is that this cabin is very near the elevator. In fact, you can see the first elevator from the doorway. The bad news, if you are a light sleeper, is that this cabin is very near the elevators. Most of the noise was related to passengers who continued talking when they departed the elevator. Wasn't much of a problem except at 2:00 or 3:00am or if you trying to take a nap during the day. Also, you could hear music from the atrium. We weren't too bothered by it but it's nice to be forewarned. Unlike other entrances from the elevators to the hallways, this one did not have a sliding glass door to muffle the sound. All this being said, we'd book this cabin again.

Deck - 11

Cabin # - 1605

Class – Aquaclass.

Starboard or Port Side - Port.

Bed near– Balcony.

Quiet Cabin– Not a particularly quiet cabin. Music from pool deck band was audible, particularly the bass. I would compare it to being at a stoplight next to a car with its stereo turned up too loud. There is also a rattle from a loose trim piece on the wall between the bed and the balcony when the ship is moving. It was fairly annoying as it starts out loud and then lessens in intensity. It then fades away and just when you think it won't come back, it starts up loud again. Some deck chair movement could also be heard.

Balcony View - Nice view toward front of ship. Front of balcony is flush with top of overhang.

Balcony Size- Oversized. Approximately 95 square feet.

Was wind a problem? No.

Any specific problems with this cabin? Only the noise issues described above.

Any other comments? We do not regard ourselves as particularly picky people. The large balcony was nice but the noise issues we experienced (although not definite dealbreakers) might make us lean toward an Aquaclass cabin with a quieter location the next time around.

With many looking for information on specific cabins on Solstice I thought it might be good to have a form of sorts for everyone to post basic information on each cabin that is easily read and searchable.

Hopefully if future cruisers will cooperate we can eventually obtain information on most every cabin and possibly get it as a sticky. Below is the information that I have noticed many wanting to know about the cabins. Please add any pertinant information that I might have missed. I will add a post after this one with just the questions that you can "Reply To" and add your information without copying and editing this first post. I hope to eventually get the basic info in a table and will try to post that periodically within the thread.

Please name your post with the title "Cabin # xxxx" so that those searching for information on a specific cabin can locate those easier with the search this forum option by using the cabin number that they need info on.

After the questions please add any comments concerning location - close to elevators, far from specific venues, etc. Also, post links to your photos of specific cabins or attach photos to the post.

Ship - Solstice

Deck - 10

Cabin # - 1002

Class – Solstice

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin – Exceptionally quiet. This cabin is next to the bridge with only one cabin adjacent, no interior cabins in front of it. Occasionally heard electronic whistle which we assumed was for navigational purposes.

Balcony View – We had an excellent view of the bridge and spoke to the Captain and staff on occasion (there is a door which they can open). Some privacy issues if you leave curtains open. View is great straight out and to the right, and you can see through the bridge.

Balcony Size - Normal

Was wind a problem? - No, this cabin is in the front of the ship where it can be windy; however, the closeness of the bridge provided a barrier. We had breeze but not strong winds.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Not really, closet door was difficult to open and maintenance tried to fix, but it never got easy.

Any other comments? - Was glad we chose this cabin but having done it once, would select another in the future. My husband is former Navy, and he really enjoyed watching the Captain park the ship. It is a long way from the stairs and elevators which enhance the quietness but may be an issue for some.

Cabin # - 6299

Class – 2C

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very Quiet

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Great View with two metre flat, floor level overhang obstructing view down only. View out and to aft was perfect.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Large - approx 1.5-2x bigger than normal. Sticks out approx 1 metre beyond the cabin above, as do the seven surrounding cabins from 6303 back to 6293 by our calculation.

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Slight soot after port days, cleared by attendant daily.

Any specific problems with this cabin? Great cabin

Any other comments? No footstools in category 2 - CC and AQ had these, which would have been a bonus. Extra large balcony was great for a drinks party.
