What are Smart Casual Nights

My wife wants to know what the dress will be for the 7 Smart Casual Nights on our Sea of Cortez cruise?

 

It sounds dressier than the nights we had on the Westerdam three years ago.

 

 

Any help will be appreciated,

No doubt you will see just about everything else. In Mexico, a summer dress or pants and top would be just fine.

They call it "smart" casual in hopes folks won't come in dressed like they just came from the beach or an all-nighter! It's sometimes referred to as country club casual.

For mainstream smart casual - think Chicos, the majority of what is sold there fits into that category nicely, although they don't sell too many dresses.

Sorry, but I thought Chicos was just about everywhere. They have a huge selection of travel knits and fun, colorful seperates.

Coldwater Creek travel knits are perfect for Smart Casual nights, too. Basically, whatever you'd wear to a nice restaurant for dinner.

Thanks for the input/advice on casual wear. Have been so worried about not dressing up enough. HAL sounds like other lines for those who dress without dolling up. I intend to wear what I might wear for a nite out. When are capris worn?

You'll see Capri's during the day and in also the evening on casual nights. I wore Capri's on the formal evenings, but we ate in the Lido. You can dress them up a bit with a nicer blouse and sleeveless shell or a nice jacket. I bought a lot of my casual clothes at Coldwater Creek.

DH defines "smart casual" as the opposite of "dumb casual" (i.e.: old jeans with holes, wifebeater shirts, daisy duke shorts, etc.....) ... lol ...
