Miss Ship - catch up at Princess Cays ???

AGAIN I ask...whose business is it if someone choose to get one yet or not??
You're right; it's none of our business. However, we've seen very upset cruisers post that they missed their flight and couldn't catch up with the ship because they didn't have a passport. For some reason, they blame Princess for this and feel they should somehow get around the U.S. government regulations and persuade the airline to let them board a flight.

Personally, I would never leave the country without a passport, even if it's not required, but that's my personal opinion and I was expressing it.

I totally agree with you, Pam. In fact I even use my passport as my ID when I fly domestic. It is easier for me to keep all our passports together in a folder, rather than having to take drivers licenses in and out of wallets.

Pam, I see you are getting on the Golden when we get off. We are looking forward to that trip.

It's actually smarter to flip out your passport than your driver's license -- that way you don't disclose your address. You know, the vacant home you just left behind....

I don't know of any transportation to Princess Cays for Princess Pax do you?

I am not saying you can't get a speedboat there from a bigger island.

I seriously doubt Princess would even entertain letting a passenger embark there and I probably think it would be a big Bahama Immigration No no. ;)

As Rob said I am sure it is possible.

You are dating yourself and I stay as far away from I-25 as I can.

It is certainly possible to fly to eleuthera. As others have comments, passengers have joined the ship there. I have no idea where you would get a speed boat from anywhere, or how that would be a solution. And, I have even less idea what I-25 is.

I realize you can fly to Eluthera, but you still have to get to PC.

Maybe thats where the boat comes in.

I-25, inside joke if you had read all the reponses. ;)

Ok, so when you miss your flight into FLL and show up the next day in Eleuthera take time to check out the island. Last month when we were at Princess Cays I took the opportunity for the first time to explore the island (simply exit the gate, walk past the craft huts, and explore. Had a very interesting 10 mile walk. Shacks next to exquisite homes. The entire time I saw 2 operating vehicles on the roads. Spoke to some nice locals that were standing in their yards.

When we flew out of FLL last January, as I sat there in terminal 1 waiting to see if we cleared the standby list for the early flight home, I noticed a bunch of Continental commuter gates beside our area, and one of the flights was going to Eluethera. Not sure which of the 3 airports on the island it goes to but Rock Sound International is only about 20 miles from Princess Cays.

We just flew into FLL and noticed that there were many (several) flights into Eleuthra that day.

Do you have a passport??

:D

MY final point here...think WHATEVER you want about people having or not having passports...the OP didn't even MENTION it. And all of a sudden it turned nasty and judgemental. It IS a good idea to have them but don't preach it in a thread.

Your boat reference makes no sense at all.

You do realize that there are cars and trucks on Eleuthera?

For instance, princess runs a truck up and down (a portion)

of the island to collect workers when there is a ship there.

If you walk by the caretakers house, you can see the posted

schedule -- of both workers, and pick-up times.

Additionally, you can see the cars of bahamians just outside

"Princess Cays" at the craft market. Obviously, these people

drive on eleuthera. In my opinion, you could easily hire them

to drive you from/to the airport with enough cash.

Here's some info on flying to eleuthera:

I believe Princess is now, or soon to be, offering a tour of part of Eleuthera, and presumably it's not a walking tour LOL.
