I always love watching folks coming off the ship who get busted by the drug sniffing wolf (those aren't dogs!) and then get a "special escort" by the police.

As you will guess from my name I work in a Prison in the Uk and the 'dogs' are always 'sitting' on me. This is because of my meds for a spinal injury but after supplying Security with details I am ok although I love to see the look on the New Officers faces when it happens :D Priceless!

(I always carry a copy of my Prescription now when travelling just in case)

I am laughing out loud reading this one....sorry about your injury, but at least you find some humor in dealing with security.... Thanks for sharing...

We were on the Inspiration for my birthday in Oct. I always get a kick out of the people walking around deck in bath robes. Wondering if they have undies or swim suits on. I hope so!!:o

On this ship, the balcony rooms are above a public walking deck. While we were out on this deck enjoying the view, I heard a cabin door open above us and an older man came out to smoke but didnt realize that we could see EVERYTHING  under his robe. Any time I talked to my husband, I had this view in my sight unless I kept looking out to sea. I couldnt stop laughing!

Please men, while sitting in your robes on your balcony keep in mind that the lower deck jets out and your hanging fruits are on display for all who are walking below.

I wonder if Stephanie and Dan realized how long this thread would last when they started it in December, 2004?

I love the wonderful, bizarre, and funny stories which have been shared here.

1,280 posts and growing - Long may this thread continue! :)

just back from a cruise on HAL earlier this month. We travel w/ another couple and had adjoining balcony rooms. We always have the cabin steward open the divider between the balconies so that we have one large balcony. I was sitting out on our portion of it one afternoon and heard a door open nearby. Thought maybe it was our friends coming out. Nope... was the guy in the room next to them. He came right up to the railing on his balcony and thru some combination of the positioning of the sun and the reflective glass surfaces of the balcony railings, one could see that he was naked. Got the full frontal view. *ewwwww*

Was tempted to leave a note in his mailbox that invited him to the naturalists' luncheon the following day. Would likely have had him scratching his head (or other parts) for the rest of the week, wondering how anyone knew. PUT A ROBE ON!!!!!

While on a Norwegian cruise, my sister and I were eating at the midnight chocolate buffet. She had a tortoise shell banana clip in her hair. Well, all of a sudden, the clip obviously broke and went flying out of her hair. Unfortunately, half of it landed on the plate of an elderly man, sitting with his wife. They had been talking to another couple and didn't see it land on the husband's plate. There it sat looking very similar to all of the other chocolate goodies he was about to eat. All of a sudden his wife says......"Hey, I didn't get one of those", as she pointed to the broken half of the hair accessory....."It looks delicious". We didn't stay long enough to see if he tried to eat it or not.....We still laugh about it!

Our very first cruise, Carnival Elation.....yes, we were a bit naive! We wanted to play mini golf on a day at sea, and if memory serves correctly, the course was at the front of the ship. We didn't realize winds were about 60 mph up there, so we get our clubs, etc. and head up. (Kinda surprised staff was even letting people up there!) Of course, as soon as the wind hit, we realized mini golf was not happening, but that's not the good part!

I'm very petite, so the high winds kind of freaked me out. I'm flat against a wall, screaming "I'm gonna blow off the ship!", when a strong gust comes along. I'm wearing a sundress, with no straps. Yep, the wind yanked my dress to my ankles!

After we left this reception we went over to the elevators. We hadn't decided to get on them just yet, but my DS did. I looked back just in time to see the glass doors shut with my DS in the elevator! I waited to see which direction the elevator was headed and bounded down the floors waiting to see where it stopped. Fortunately it only went 2 floors before I caught up with him. He was crying, but safe.

OMG I just read this to my dd who is now 9 and getting ready for her 4th cruise. I asked her if she remembered happening to her on her first cruise. Not only did she, but told me that the elevator took her from snowman (8) down to hockey stick (7) and she was amazed that I was there when the doors opened. Man I flew down that staircase

I have been lurking these boards for a long time! This thread made me sign up! These are great stories.

Several years ago my mother and I left the comedy show, and came out to find a man stretched out in a chair, who we thought was obviously in distress or having seizures. I ran and got one of the crew members from the show and brought her out there telling her something was wrong with this man. Well - nothing wrong, he was in a massage chair and just really loving it! We laughed for a long time about that!

My hubby and I were on our second Jewel of the Seas cruise and it was after dinner on the last night. We went back to our cabin to finish packing and change into travel clothes so we could put our bags out. My hubby changed first and went out on the balcony to enjoy a cigar and wait for me. I told him I was going into the bathroom to freshen up, and then we would go back out to dance.

I changed into my robe, laid out my clothes and finished all the packing and went to put the last bag in the hallway - well, you guessed it - I locked my self out of the room - in a robe (and little under it) with my hubby on the balcony.

So i ran to the elevators which have a phone, and called guest relations for help. I also called the room hoping that the hubby walked back in looking for me. - No luck. The guest relations staff told me that I would need to provide proof before they would open the door - but all I had was my robe.

Finally a room steward came by and opened the door for me. This all took over 20 minutes!

I walked out on the balcony and started yelling at my hubby - he was clueless! To this day he does not understand why I was mad - since I always take at least 20 minutes to get dressed. UGH!

On our cruise on Norwegian Gem this past summer, during one of our sea days. A very drunk man walked over and threw up in the pool which was crowded full of people. It was smack in the middle of the day. Everyone started hurrying to get out and were yelling and screaming. The drunk guy proceeded to give everyone the finger and curse them out (as if they were the wrong ones)! Go figure....

It makes me sick thinking about it.....thank goodness I was not in the pool at the time! It became such a ruckus because this guy had men wanting to kick his but after that. Security came, but I don't know what happened to the guy. We never saw him the rest of the cruise.

And finally, we were on the Celebrity Xpedition. We weren't supposed to be aboard, we had signed up for a snorkleing trip but decided not to go. Our cabin stewardess walked in on my hubby right as he was leaving the shower. The only thing within reach to cover up with was a shoe. Where, oh where is your camera when you really need it.

THIS is the one that cracked me up the most so far!! Well, and the old lady rolling backwards in her wheelchair.

Before my first cruise (Carnival either Fantasy or Ecstasy, I forget) with our bowling league I had tips put on my nails for the first time ever.

We went snorkeling and one of the nails popped trying to get the flippers on. Before I could react, it was out of sight. At dinner that night I was telling the folks from the league and someone who had been on a different snorkeling excursion had found it!! He asked around and no one on that boat had lost it, so he tossed it back in the water.

Later on the cruise we stopped at Freeport. I had won a contest and the prize was to be put in a plexiglass box and have money blown around. I had to catch the money but there was a catch!!! I could only keep what I managed to pass through a thin slot. Those darn tips again, I managed to get.... ONE DOLLAR through :( I did get a beach towel as a consolation prize.

Same trip, wearing contacts and my eyes are sooooo dry. Grab the drops and put them in to find that it was the cleaning solution. HOLY burning.

We've been on three cruises since then - leaving on the fourth in a few weeks - and no tips for me. No contacts either, sheesh.

Thanks for this thread, it has really given me some giggles and it's getting me excited for the next trip!!! I will pay more attention to what is going on around me ;)

I love this thread! I have laughed for hours reading these and still have pages to go. So I'll post mine for you to read then get back to reading.

These are the stories of our group we cruise with each year. LibertyOS 2009. My bil get drunks and is found on deck 6 the trying to get in to the wrong cabin at 2am and the older lady was nice enough to take him to his own room which was on deck 8. Same bil passout with pizza stains all over him in the hall next to his cabin door because he had forgotten he pass on his way down for pizza, security show up at 3am and ask him what his roommates name is, which is someone we all call Horton, but he can't remember his first name. Finally they bang on the door long enough that Horton gets up opens the door to claim him lol. The first night in the disco club (the Crypt) one of the guys gets really drunk, everyone is sitting around in talking/laughing and his teeth kinda give a little juggle so he suck them back in. The next thing you know he in on his hands and knees crawling out on to the dance floor after his teeth, they had gone flying out of his mouth lol. Btw he grabs them up and puts them right back in his mouth without rinsing them off. We still laugh at that, he doesn't!! OOH same cruise the people next to us in the MDR was a family, they were very loud. They were always talking/fighting about how much their bill was. The funny thing was the night the "mom" had her wine bottle brought to the table, but she didn't finish the glass and she was trying to pour it back in the bottle. Lets just say most ended up on the table cloth.

From our 2011 cruise on Allure. We were dancing during 80's night and again my bil had bumped in to another guy, lets just say this little guy got upset really upset. Now this ship is huge but everywhere we went in the evenings we seen this GUY, On the Air... there he was, Comedy club yes sir, Quest! yup right in front of us. Little dude would get so mad he would get up and leave everytime. Not sure why he got so mad, it really was funny in the end. Me and the hubs on our flight back go to our gate and guess who was sitting there, yep the GUY lol. I had to take a pic and send it to the rest cause they didn't believe me.

This happened years ago, on our first cruise on the Grandeur. But, it is a story that my DW and I will never forget.

So, like I said, this occurred on the Grandeur, when she was new, so back in the 1990s or so.

Back then, one of the entertainments was "horse" racing. Yes, horse racing on the ship. During a day at sea, a large mat, with six clear lanes, was laid out by the pool. 6 wooden horses, really, wooden horses housed on a small stick and a base, would be placed on the mats, numbered 1-6. Two dice would be rolled and the horses on the matching numbered lanes would move one space for each time their number was rolled. The was much betting for win, place and show. Each horse had to move about 12 spaces before it would cross the finish line. A tumbler was used to roll the dice and of course, whichever number you had bet on, was cheered loudly, doubly so when doubles came up. Each race took about 10 minutes or so and, normally, a bikini clad passenger was "volunteered" to roll the dice.

At the end of the first day, the 6 horses were "auctioned". You could buy a horse for the feature race on the last sea day. The winner of the race would win the pot created by the six successful bidders. Each owner, or team of owners, was encouraged to name and decorate their little wooden horse and carry it around the ship.

The number 4 horse was purchased by a large family group of Italians. There was much toasting and cheering over the purchased horse.

This group sat very near to us in the dining room. Each night they made a parade of marching into the dining room, parading their horse now adorned with Red, White and Green colors, with many of the family parading with Italian flags garnered from the waiters from on Italian night. The were loud and very enthusiastic about showing of their horse and toasted many a toast each evening to their "steed". They were very popular in the dining room. They were never offensive. Actually, they livened up the dining room very much with the enthusiasm over their soon to be wining horse. All tables around them became friends and even the waiters would involve the horse in the evening festivities. It became a nightly event. (Off the record, I miss those dining room days, when every night had a theme and each dinner was special, with singing and dancing waiters and a joyful time, but I digress. . . .)

Then, the day came, the day of the special race. The group gathered around the "track". Their "jockey", wearing a green, red and white outfit proudly stood by their entry. I am sure a lot of money was placed on proud number 4 to win the "Grandeur Cup".

All the entries lined up on the mat, each horse was actually decorated, but no team was as loud or ready for the win as the "Racing Italians" as they had so proudly named their team.

The race started.

I would love to end this tale with the exciting wire to wire account of a closely contested race between two proud fillies.

It wasn't meant to be. It was a blow out. And not for The Racing Italians. Not a single 4, not one, ever came up on the dice. As each throw ended, there was always a 2 and something else, but never a four. It was over in a few minutes and 2 won wire-to-wire, 4 never having gotten one step onto the mat. I had not bet on the race, but I felt crushed for the Racing Italians, never even having the chance to cheer their mighty entry onto the track.

As you can imagine, it was a very, very sober final evening meal for the Racing Italians. The horse was gone, the money was gone and noise was gone. I'll never forget how quiet that last meal was from that table. Their balloon had popped, their party had ended and the cruise was ending.

Maybe not crazy or wild, but certainly, one of the most interesting, and fun, time we've ever had on a cruise ship.

Last cruise, I worked out in the gym 4 out of the 7 days, when I would finish I'd hit the showers, enjoy the Steam rooms and sauna. I kept noticing that there was always this older man in the steam room/sauna and showers every morning I went to gym. One morning during my work out I used the bathroom facilities, someone was in the showers. When I washed my hands before returning to my workout I looked up into the mirror to see that same old guy had opened his shower curtain and was "entertaining" himself for all to see. Kinda freaked me out.

Ok here are my -slightly- funny stories.

1) My first cruise was with my mother, god bless her for putting up with me. I was 22. It was a short cruise out of Florida in November. Last minute thing, we have never travelled just the two of us I always travel alone. She made the experience sound like the most elegant thing I had ever heard of, I had a wardrobe of fancy clothes and she bought me new luggage for the "experience". We were standing in line to board or either to check in...I don't remember quite. I am observing the people around us and look to the family standing in front of us and all their luggage is packed in trash bags . I motioned with my eyes to my mother and she goes "Oh lord. Honey, I booked this cruise because it was the cheapest one I could find. Prepare yourself." and that's just where the fun began lol. (Not to sound stuck up lol I just had never seen anything like that).

2) I was in a state of total shock the entire cruise because the room was flourescent orange all over. I mean.....blinding. No other color. The first thing I said when walking in the room was "What's with the orange?!" lol. I griped about this constantly, to this day if we shop she will pick something out for me to show me that's orange and I will go "Mom, seriously" to her reply "What? You don't like orange?"

3) Day one I scheduled an appointment to have my hair done. It was overdue to be dyed my normal dark auburn at the time. I went and had a great time chatting with the woman doing my hair. Well at the final "reveal" of my new hair, somehow it had ended up a dark unnatural purple color... no amount of "trying to fix it" worked...and I had to walk around the rest of the time that way to which I am sure some people named me "That purple headed girl" :o

3) These two older women grabbed their lounges the minute we were on the ship. No matter when we went out there, if the pool was open they were in these EXACT CHAIRS every time drinking all day. We would go at 9 am and they would be there with drinks in hand...hours and hours later come back, still there drinks in hand. We would people watch them and they slammed them back. These woman NEVER appeared drunk at all, man they could handle their alcohol. We called them "The chair Ladies" ... "Look mom the chair Ladies are still out" :D.

4) My misery did not go unnoticed in the Adult comedy show my mother dragged me to to "Lighten my spirits". I don't know how that comedian could see me so well but just into the show he goes "Look at this girl, she's miserable!" and I turned into the source of most of his jokes the rest of the night that I don't quite remember because I instantly slammed some incredibly alcoholic drinks lol. I did laugh at it a lot though, it worked lol.

5) This isn't a funny story to me, but others probably got a kick out of it. We were hanging in the piano bar and during a quieter moment (just quiet enough for others to hear what we were saying, it was packed) my mom said that my boyfriend was going to propose and asked her blessing. I burst into tears and said "I dont want to marry him!!" louder than I should have :D I got some strange looks and snickering lol. He is not my husband, for the record lol.

6) Not directly cruise related. I had to take a very small charter plane on a trip I made to Missouri. I was traveling alone as usual. I was a stick thin 94 lbs at the time. I got to my seat and it was taking a very long time to take off. I noticed the flight attendents walking back and forth looking everyone over multiple times. Finally she asks me to come with her (Oh lord, Im thinking what did I do?!) she pulled me out of earshot of everyone and said "Ma'am, I do not mean to offend, but one seat on this plane is over a wheel (or something) and it is smaller than all the other seats and your feet must be propped up on the raised floor. We have...a plane full of larger people than usual. You are the only person who could possibly fit there, would you mind taking the seat?" I obliged of course, and flew the entire time in a seat that should hold maybe a toddler with my knees up to my chest! :D
