Summertimescallingme Posted April 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2009 Does Princess offer a complimentary port to St. Marks transfer while in Venice? If not, does anyone know what the transfer costs and how often during the day it is offered by Princess? We are in port from a Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon. -Lew- Posted April 26, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2009 We disembarked in Venice and, although it wasn't complementary, an unlimited pass was available for purchase through Princess. Piazza San Marco was one of the get-off/get-on points. Lew
paul929207 Posted April 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2009 We boarded in Venice about 18 months ago. Princess offered transfers to and from San Marco Plaza, but there was a charge for it. Maybe $15 each, but I am not sure.
onthelake Posted April 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2009 Since you are in Venice overnight, you may want to look into a 24 hr. vaparetto pass. Last year this time it was 16 euro each and would take you anywhere the vaparettos go - including Murano. The 'shuttle' from the ship to San Marco is only good for one round trip and was $15. You may need to walk a little to a vaparetto landing but it isn't far and is well worth the cost. We spent one afternoon just riding the vaparettos around Venice and spent our final morning in Murano.
DGSFlorida Posted April 26, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2009 The normal procedure for Princess is to automatically place in your cabin a prepaid transfer for use between the port and St. Mark's. If you don't decide to use it, you just turn it in to the tour office before the next port and your onboard account is credited.
caber Posted April 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2009 It was $15 in 2007 and it lasted for the time we were in port which was overnight too.
Adventures ahead Posted April 26, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 26, 2009 Was it good for more than one trip and both days?
Summertimescallingme Posted April 27, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted April 27, 2009 Thanks for the information. Is the Princess pass an unlimited pass for the 2 days? If so, that sounds like to way to go, if it's only a one time use, the vaparetto pass might be a better deal for us. Where did you buy the vaparetto pass? How far would you say the walk is from the port to the closest vaparetto stop?
caribill Posted April 27, 2009 #9 Share Posted April 27, 2009 Thanks for the information. Is the Princess pass an unlimited pass for the 2 days? When we were there two years ago, it was unlimited. It only covers a route from right near the ship to near St.Marks Square and back. It does not do the Grand Canal, so you may want to also do that as it is a great experience. caber Posted April 27, 2009 #10 Share Posted April 27, 2009 The pass lasted for both days, unlimited trips on the shuttle boat between the ship and St Marks Square.
skf Posted April 27, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 27, 2009 Whether or not Princess charges or gives it away, you owe yourself a boat ride on the Vaporetto. Going through the lagoon in front of Piazza San Marco is an Italian thrill ride. Steve
yanks7 Posted April 28, 2009 #12 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Venice is very walkable. I think it will take you about 15 - 20 minutes to walk to San marco. Also, the vaporetto will take you there. Part of the fun of Venkice is just wandering!
