Odyssey Carribean Tapestry 12/10-12/22

I hope they didn't cancel because of the bad reports on the other thread. Think positive!

Oh, no. No, no! We dream of sailing Seabourn in the Med, and can't do both the cruise in December and a Med cruise unless we receive an unexpected windfall, of course! So, we decided to try HAL for the first time in December (we will likely see the Odyssey somewhere along the way, as the HAL cruise sails on 12/11 from FLL), and the savings there should make it easier for us to sail Seabourn next summer.

A few reviews would never put us off Seabourn!

This Caribbean cruise is being heavily promoted in the UK through a one week only "bon voyage" event. We have just made a booking. We have not been on Seabourn for five years - have things changed? Previously superb and relaxing, we are a bit worried about recent postings concerning children and dress/behaviour standards. Should we be concerned? And does anyone know how many "formal" nights we will have? In any event we are looking forward to a new Seabourn experience on the Odyssey and meeting new friends.

Just goy a message from TA that final payment is due Friday. That means it is getting close. We have our transAtlantic next month and then this one. Looking forward to tasting Seabourn for the first and hopefully not the last time.

You are lucky, most of us are not as fortunate to have 2 cruises planned so close together. Especially after the first one, it's nice to know you don't have to chain yourself to the railing to stay onboard. See you in December!

  • 2 weeks later...

OK, final payments are in and we are counting the days.

How about the Sky Bar for our CC 'Meet & Greet' on the first sea day (12/11) at 4:30? Perhaps Eileen (PVGal) can scope it out and warn Nelson. In the photo, it's on the top and underutilized when it's not a sail-away, I understand.

Anyone considering this cruise? 4 sea days! Again some good deals.

We booked this months ago. Just our second cruise--prior was Regent Navigator to same area--but think that choice of ship is immensely important and itinerary--particularly in the Caribbean--is less so.My only concern is the demands of formal evenings. I (stubbornly) won't bring a tux. Yes, I know there are alternative dining options. I guess I just don't comprehend why anyone would want to lug all that extra stuff aboard. Or maybe I wore a tux often enough for business to make a penguin suit seem less than alluring.

Just curious..didn't you read the standards when you booked?...you cannot be shocked or dismayed if you did! Just so that you know..there are many of us who have been in tux and formal for much of our lives and still enjoy it...perhaps more so in this very shabby world in which we live our daily lives. The difference is you can use the jacket of a dark suit with different pants to make two outfits and save some packing space. Also writer100 sounds like he;

'd be more comfortable in a suit than a tux. It's no big deal. Lots of men are wearing dark suits on formal night now.

Please add our names to the party list. Esther and Mike, New York & Florida. First Seabourn, second cruise. Admire the creativity of your cc handles, though possibly "lord of the seas"takes the prize. I feel like snapping to whenever I see that on a post. Look forward to meeting you all.

Hi Jane, You caught us " lurking " on this Odyssey cruise message board. As mentioned earlier, there are many Cruise Critic members on this Caribbean cruise with quite a few sea days. We could not resist the chance to check out the Odyssey and the Caribbean is about as close as it gets to Northern California. We will be joining you all on December 10th, I think we are across the hallway from your suite Jane on deck 7 (#709)

Please add our names to the growing list, Agnes and Jim Mercer.
