We just returned from a cruise last week that ended in Rome. We used RomeinLimo and were very happy with them! Nick picked us up at port and we had an all day tour of highlights of Rome..There were 4 couples altogether. Everyone was pleased with the tour and the whole experience. Don't hesitate to book with them! Nick did a great job and he is very knowledgeable about history. We never felt rushed when we wanted to take pictures and he knew where to park so we never had to walk far to the sites which helped some of the older ones. After the tour he took all the couples to their separate hotels. I posted a review on TA also...

We just returned from an RCI cruise that ended in Rome and were very happy with our choice of using Rome In Limo. We had booked them for our last port of call, in Florence/Pisa and Clara was superb in sharing her love for her country. Our meal in Florence was very "Italian", not just another tourist trap.

In Rome, Francesco was great too. He was right there at the port when we disembarked and loaded all of our luggage in the luxury SUV and we were off on a lovely adventure, enjoying our personalized great view and introduction to Rome. This was our second trip where we got to take advantage of this service and were just as happy as we were the first time and I am certain we will be calling on them again. We had not made any arrangements to get to the airport and after inquiring what our options were at our hotel, we contacted Rome In Limo and they were right there when we needed them. Our group of six were escorted very efficiently and Max, our driver, was just as pleasant and nice as Francesco and Clara had been before him.

We just returned from the 12 day Nieuw Amsterdam cruise from Barcelona to Venice. In Livorno we used Rome in Limo. Not only are they professional and prompt but they will customize your tour to spend more or less time in the areas you are interested in.

Our driver was Gian or "John" as we called him. He was adorable, funny and very knowlegable. Ask for him in Livorno, you WON'T be disappointed.

Also used Rome in Limo in Rome...again everything a tour should be. I would recommend them to anyone.

We just came back last week from a cruise and land tour, used Romeinlimo four times, in Florence/Pisa, in Rome, outside of Rome, Positano/Sorrento, three days, and they also arranged several other events for us. I have used Romeinlimo many years now, and they just get better and better every time! Always something different and new, always phenomenal customer service, guides, assistance, and we have come to depend on them for such wonderful times in Italy. We have used them in Sicily as well, same results there. This trip, April 22 to May 2 was again, awesome, and I thank Romeinlimo for making it so great and easy for us. My knee was totally out this trip, and I never had to worry with the service we had, the drop off areas, it all worked great. Professionally speaking, you cannot beat them for their dedication to making our trips fantastic.

We just arrived home last night from our Equinox Med cruise. We did several tours and transfers in Rome and Naples with Rome In Limo, as we did last year. They are just a great company to work with. Our plans changed many times during the weeks prior to our cruise and Jany was always willing to do what needed to be done to accommadate us.

After we arrived and were transported by RIL to our hotel we took a 4 hour walking tour with Sarah, which is an hour longer than normal but it was because we added a special Vatican exhibit at the Capitoline Museums. Even though we had just gotten off an overnight plane ride from the USA it was a marvelous tour...all due to Sarah and the immense amount of knowledge she has of art history. I heartily recommend this tour, the Borghese Gallery alone is worth the cost of the tour.

Angelo, picked us up at the Vatican on Monday after our Scavi tour there that morning, took us back to our hotel so we could change, check out and then transported us to the ship. He was on time even though the Vatican was even busier than normal as it was a holiday weekend.

In Naples our driver Tony, was wonderful! We had already been to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast so this time he took us to Herculaneum, which was amazing and even more so because we were the 1st people there that day and were able to walk through ahead of the crowds that arrived soon after. He knew we didn't want to do the "normal" tours and so next took us to the Villa San Marco, a magnificent villa also buried by Vesuvius in 79AD, a UNESCO site, and in remarkable condition. The custodian gave us a tour of the Villa and even though he spoke no English, and we no Italian, we managed to communicate well. We were the only people there, the Villa has wonderful views of the Bay of Naples and was enormous, with a huge "swimming pool" in the middle of it. It was such an interestesting site. He then took us to lunch and the National Archaelogical Museum in downtown Naples where we spent the remainder of our day. Lunch was at a small restaurant and served THE BEST pizza I've ever had. The museum is magnificent and we are SO glad we went there. It houses many artifacts from Pompeii, Herculaneum, other Villas but also so many huge sculptures from the 1st and 2nd century. The Museum itself is over 400 years old and a wonderful building to walk through even if it had been empty. At the end of the day Tony presented us with a bottle of Limoncello from Sorrento. He was just a wonderful driver/guide with so much knowledge of the area and a great personality too.

The next morning, our last, we were picked up at the Rome port by RIL and taken to the airport.

While I realize that this has been a post singing Rome In Limo's praises yet again and some seem to have a problem with that, I too am in the "service" industry and therefore feel qualified to say they are just as good a company as nearly all the posts here say they are. I will use them again in the future. It is so reassuring to know that you have someone dependable, knowledgeable and accommodating when you are in a foreign country with such limited time.

Thanks again, Jany, Dumas, Tony, Angelo, Sarah, Serena and everyone at RIL for helping make our trip to your wonderful country even more special.

We were 4 couples staying in Rome for 2 days after our Celebrity Silhouette Transatlantic cruise. Nick from Rome-in-Limo picked us up at the ship and took us on an all day tour of Rome before dropping us off at our hotel. We were all very happy with our tour. Nick was very informative and a real pleasure to be with. We would all recommend Rome-in-limo and our driver, Nick. Thank you very much. Lois Katz

Hi Everyone,

We are Bill and Anne, and we have just returned from a wonderful TA cruise on the Celebrity "Equinox". Great cruise and superb tours.

First, let me explain that both of us are 'mobility-challenged' and are not interested in walking tours. Anne needs a wheelchair to get around, for anything more than very short distances. I researched private tours and found Rome-In-Limo, then ended up booking 2 tours: one in Liverno for both Pisa and Florence; and the other in Rome. Both were magnificient.

Both tours were set up as 8 passenger, since that appeared to be the most economical, and that worked out great. The vehicle was small enough to get us right up to the attractions, but still comfortable for each of the 8 of us. I highly recommend that arrangement. That vehicle can easily handle a wheelchair and an additional small 'scooter'.

Our driver and tour guide for Pisa/Florence was "John" who was very knowledgable and spoke excellent English. He was very prompt in meeting us at the dock, even though we were a bit early. He had a nice presentation for us during the 1-1/2 hr drive to Pisa. He drove us right up to the chain barrier at the Tower, and gave us an explaination before we left for touring. John helped with the wheelchair for Anne, which was very nice. It was a short drive to Florence, where we all had established reservations for Uffizi. I definitely recommend advance reservations. Easy to present your reservation #, and purchase tickets immediately. John got us up the door, and my reservation got us through the door. The return trip to the Equinox was nice. The tour was E 550 for the 8 of us, coming to about E 70 each. We gave John a Tip individually, which worked out to E 5/person, and I personally added another E 10 for all John's help with the wheelchair. He was very appreciative.

Our driver/guide for Rome was Nick. Very helpful and good English. This was a little different arrangement, since he had to pick-up each of 4 couples at different Hotels in Rome. It worked nicely. Nick took us to about 10 different locations (Coliseum and Vatican were not included, since we did them individually another day). He got us right up to the gates and also helped with the wheelchair at all locations. Nick found a wonderful Restaurant for us for Lunch, with authentic food and wine. Wonderful! Nick returned us all to our Hotels, and that saved all of us many "Euros" from avoiding Taxis. This tour was E 450 (about 56 Euro per person) and a Tip of about E 5 / person, plus my additional E 10 for the wheelchair. Nick was mentioned previously in the 'thread' and I also would recommend him.

One final note: using Rome-In-Limo is much better and economical than using the ship's tours. It is not that much more expensive than touring yourself, individually. And it is a very efficient use of your time. You can see more and do more, at a very reasonable price.

I would highly recommend Rome-In-Limo for any location.

We're going on the "kid friendly" Rome Highlights tour in June. Their response to my question asking the difference w/this tour: "Honestly is more less the same, the kid friendly we just spend a bit more time explaining the sites better in kid's words, but you will get to see the same sites more less." Of course, my kids are older, 12 & 10. I know some adults that would benefit from the simplified explanations. :P

Depending on others in your group, they might tailor part of your tour to accommodate the ages or your kids. They sound very flexible based on many of the testimonials here. I'm sure they've had kids of all ages on their tours, and I wouldn't be surprised if they're able to work something out for you. It's worth asking. info@romeinlimo.com

We ate doing this as well, with my niece and nephew who are 9 and 11. From reviews I've read, it seems they cater the tour to whatever your party...like to shop? Like to drink? Like lots of museums? Have kids, etc...

We are using them in all 3 of our Italy stops and they have been great to work with so far, very quick and helpful email replies. Really looking forward to actually taking the tours and seeing what everyone is talking about.

I just returned from a short Med cruise (RT from Rome) and used RIL for

an early AM airport pick-up to ship transfer along with a tour of Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel "on the way."

My terrific driver Francesco who was both professional and engaging. My flights were changed due to weather and I arrived somewhat later and Rome in Limo was right on top of it in spite of an email notification which Jany would have rec'd at Midnight! (She doesn't sleep?). I love a guide who knows every inch of their city, can adjust quickly for traffic and knows where every mini-grocery is to make a quick stop for cheap bottled water for the cabin.

Having Valentina as my Vatican Guide was a godsend. She was thouroughly knowledgeable in art history & knew every inch of the Museum & easily steered me to best highlights of each exhibit according to my interests. I was amazed at the huge number of people slowly making their way through there on their way to the Sistine. I would have

wasted a huge amount of time & been very frustrated and disappointed in my visit, but her delightful commentary and ability to manuever through the crowds made the visit really rewarding & effortless. Believe Jany & Duman when they tell you a guide would be important for a

particular site.

With the expense invested (esp as a solo) in a Europe cruise, I try to make the most of my trips & always tour some on either Hotel or Airport to Ship transfers. Having used RIL for shore excursions many times, I was

confident to use them for this transfer. As it turns out, my "on my own" day in Rome post-cruise was very hot last week and it would not have been pleasant..or feasible for me to include the Vatican on my wanders that day.

It really varies, but I am budgeting 10-15 percent of our share of the tour, up to 20 if the driver is excellent or does something special. I'll also buy their lunch if willing..

What percentage of the fare do you suggest to tip RIL driver please?

Just returned from our Med cruise. Having read the raving reviews of RIL we had very high expectations of our visits to Rome and Florence. And they did deliver! We had Vinny in Florence and Nick in Rome. Our party included my parents in their 70s, my husband and myself, and my children 11 and 7. Everyone had a fantastic time.

Vinny and Nick explained everything with such enthusiasm, it made us feel very special and very welcome. We could not possibly have seen so many sights without the private tour. Both drivers took us to every site we wanted to visit and more! In Florence Vinny suggested a vineyard (which my father really enjoyed). In Rome don't forget to ask Nick for the magic keyhole experience!!!

We have no hesitation in recommending Rome in Limo to others, including families with children.

We have offered to buy our drivers lunch each time have we have used R-i-L, and every time they have declined. We think either they get a special deal at the restaurants, or R-i-L provides their lunches.

I think perhaps they use it as "down- time" or "break-time" too....it's hard to be entertaining and informative and drive well all at the same time...especially on all day tour and with total strangers....a 20-60 minute break or longer is much needed after a long morning talking and driving...I'm in the hospitality business too...if it we were I would most likely opt out too...just for some solitude and to reenergize for whatever the afternoon plans were....

We just returned from a 10 day cruise aboard Oceania's Marina "Mediterranean Tapestry". For our stop in Rome, we opted to do Tivoli Gardens and Hadrian's Villa with Rome-in-Limo, instead of Rome, which was very very crowded, according to our fellow passengers' feedback. The morning started well, with Mauro, our driver, waiting for us, all set to go as we disembarked the ship. Traffic was a bit heavy at some point, but we got to the sites well before the tour buses arrived. Mauro gave us some basic commentary along the way. He took the extra step at Hadrian's Villa and was able to get permission from the security guard to drive us all the way to the entrace of the ruins, which would be quite a challenge for the two seniors (80 and 85) to handle. The downward journey of course was easier, and very close to the gate, there was Mauro, ready, with doors wide open for the van to cool down. Villa D'Este was the same - we got there before the school buses arrived with hundreds of school children, and therefore we were able to enjoy the gardens in relative peace and quiet, and were able to take fantastic photos. He also gave us pointers as to where we can shop or eat, if we wanted. Again, at the end of the tour, Mauro was there, as close as humanly possible where we were to meet for the return journey back to the ship. This is no small feat, parking close to the entrance or meeting place, since it is really really very difficult to find parking, let alone a space close to the entrance. Mauro's timing was excellent, we were able to avoid the rush hour traffic coming back, and had time to try a very nice home-made gelato close to the pier. Would not hesitate to book with them next time we're in Rome.

Rome is a very busy and congested place - I definitely would suggest having a driver/tour guide. And yes, you do need a full day to see even a small bit of what Rome has to offer.

We used Rome In Limo twice on our recent trip to Italy and they exceeded our expectations both times. By having a smaller vehicle, as opposed to a large tour bus, you can get to places you can't with a larger vehicle and get there faster. Your RomeInLimo driver can recommend where to eat and get GOOD food for less money than if you use the cruise tour (we went with the cruise line excursion in Rome and the restaurant was awful and tours into sites were very rushed and a bit hectic with 54 people in the group to track!). The drivers are usually great about providing information along the drive as well.

Have a guide as well as a driver so you can learn more about what you are seeing - it is worth the few extra dollars. With Rome In Limo you can open your tour to others on your cruise (we did that) and it was great. With 8 people sharing the cost of driver and guide it is well worth it.

Depending upon what you want to see you can create and structure a customized tour - let RIL know and they'll make it happen.

Get tickets in advance where possible and avoid the lines! We went into Saint Peter's Basilica - worth it, Trevi Fountain - worth it, the Colleseum - worth it....and a few other places - we saw SO much that day.

In any case, Rome In Limo is the way to go. Have a great trip!
