Wolfman994 Posted January 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2005 I have heard rumors of being able to sunbathe topless or nude:cool: ? Can you really do this on a cruise ship? We are going on the Sovereign of the Seas May 9, and I was just curious. I would not think you could because of the children on board but then again;) ! Ontheseas Posted January 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2005 I dont' think RCCL has any topless decks. I think that's Carnival. Anyone else want to chime in?
Ontheseas Posted January 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2005 ...I wouldn't want to be seeing any saggy boobs..or any boobs for that matter!
jwlane Posted January 28, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2005 I would highly encourage it. However, you'll not see it on RCCL.
BrianSBC Posted January 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2005 Carnival has a topless area (not nude) up by the funnel. Children do not have access.

2112 Posted January 28, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 28, 2005 RCCL only allows it on European cruises. Carnival has a topless area on all of its cruises. Nude is never allowed.
2112 Posted January 28, 2005 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2005 Of course men can sunbathe topless on any cruise line! :D
bambam Posted January 28, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 28, 2005 and I thought I was going to have to wear a hat all the time.... :D Wouldn't want to blind folks with the glare/reflection off the top deck...
PTarbay Posted January 28, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 28, 2005 we did see one woman sunbathing topless on Labadee at the farthest beach over
vivian02 Posted January 28, 2005 #11 Share Posted January 28, 2005 My wife and I have been on three cruises. Two on Norwegian and one on Royal Caribbean. Only on RCCL did they have a deck for sunbathing. I have heard that sunbathing is allowed in the Carribbean but I haven't checked that one out yet. The beaches along the French Riviera do live up to their reputation. In Europe its no big deal. I guess you just don't take the kids to the beach? Been there, loved it. dexter Posted January 28, 2005 #13 Share Posted January 28, 2005 If you go to St. Martin just head to Orient Beach and you'll see things you wish you had closed your eyes.
Seaside2358 Posted January 28, 2005 #14 Share Posted January 28, 2005 Lots of places have topless sunbathing. Punta Cana, Cancun, Key West just to name a few...Actually Key West has totally nude spots. Not a big deal unless you make it a big deal.... MysticRhythmCruiser Posted January 29, 2005 #15 Share Posted January 29, 2005 On the Voyager class ships, there is a small stairway leading to a deck called "St. Tropez", up in front past the Solarium. It can be easily missed as the sign is small, but I've seen topless sunbathing there and I've been on Voyager class ships in the Caribbean. Part of the deck is covered, and it cannot be seen from anywhere else on the ship (at least not the passenger areas :D ) Cheers, Esther
Twaincruisers Posted January 29, 2005 #16 Share Posted January 29, 2005 Hidden decks or not, RCCL prohibits topless sun bathing in the Caribbean per their policy book in the stateroom. It is permitted on RCCL in Europe. Now, where were those hidden decks?
mtchg Posted January 29, 2005 #17 Share Posted January 29, 2005 ...was with a couple I was traveling with. Some nice views, some not so nice, but it's not a big deal. They even have drink service. Not all women who sunbathe there choose to be sans top, but on a sea day it's the only place not crowded and it's rather intimate. No kids and no cameras allowed. Only downside is the huge funnel has a rather loud, low rumble. No sanctioned women topless sun bathing on RCI (except Europe). Mitch
BamaVol Posted February 1, 2005 #18 Share Posted February 1, 2005 I saw full nudity on the Carnival ship docked next to ours in Nassau Sunday. Eventually they closed their curtains and I put my binoculars away.

zeldajanuary Posted February 1, 2005 #20 Share Posted February 1, 2005 Agree with Byron...made me chuckle. I bet a lot of that goes on in ports like that, BamaVol just owned up to it. Anyway, the Celebrity Millinneum has a top, top deck posted for topless sunbathing, but the sister Summitt did not have the same sign. This was in '03. I kept my top on and lounged on the next to the top deck (to spare my fellow pax), and got a kick out of watching all the streatched necks on the men who for some reason, found it a good place to take their strolls. I am imagining that we all might want "Wolfman" to wear a shirt if his nickname is due to his hirsute status!!;) Another reason not to sail on Carnival..... Carnival has secluded top decks where you can sunbathe topless. RCI doesn't have such provisions or a special deck for that.
