  1. I've had problems with some of the snoring adults in the solarium who think that the Solarium should be a quiet place for them to take a nap all day long. We were approached and hushed while we were talking in the jacuzzi (not yelling across the pool) by being informed that some people were unable to sleep. 5-7pm under 16 is fine as long as it doesn't spill into the rest of the day.
  2. Booked for Christmas week 2025 for a retirement celebration and was able to get a veranda on the starboard side. Category V1, not found on any other E class. We will see how it turns out, the IV category I booked while Edge was being built was turned into an Aqua class cabin with no extra charge.
  3. We booked Dec 21st - a short getaway for my birthday christmas eve.
  4. The Solarium is on Royal Caribbean Ships. There is an indoor pool and hot tubs on the Meraviglia with a retractable roof which is a family pool and it has two levels. An area with only hot tubs and sunbeds is Top 19 which is only for Auera cabin guests with key card entry and it is outdoor area
  5. At the ripe age of 60, if wearing casual clothes on a caribbean cruise is considered having no class, then so be it. I will proudly claim that I have no class. I understand the inappropriateness of the drunks in public but you can't compare it to casual clothing.
  6. He launched new ships and acted as a cruise director for the new ships for a couple of months and then went to the office to launch the next new ship. He just got off the Seascape - such a nice, sweet guy. So sad, he talked about the sad personal stuff in his life as if they were a joke but you never know what people are hiding ... so sad
  7. Pardon me, the last time I cruised Carnival was 2017, last time I cruised Celebrity was 2018 so they may have changed. When you have onboard credit and you prepay, it deducts it from your OBC, you don't have to put in your CC information and you're not charged. I would have contacted my TA at that point to ask about the OBC.
  8. I've been on an inaugural cruise and there is something given out to commemorate the occasion. MSC gave nothing!(You have this letter and your fond memories!) I love this statement
  9. The guitarist was playing Flamingos Fly? old Sammy Hagar song.
  10. I've also been cruising for over 25 years and I've had some bad cruises myself. I don't think that compensation is warrented here. Whether you like something or not is subjective and not a reason to compensate a passenger. You might have been better off just bringing up the billing issue. Even then: 1. If you're given on board credit, you cannot spend it before getting onboard. That is true for all cruise lines - you prepaid for a drink package and dinner package and had $500 on board credit to spend after that. 2. Some of the onboard credit can be non-refundable (on any cruise line) - whether it's refundable or non-refundable should be on your invoice. 3. You can't get compensated for a cruise becase you didn't like the entertainment, food, service etc. espcially since you didn't miss any ports. My travel agent was told that Seascape could not guarantee an extension cord for my husband's CPAP so we took both water and extension cord with us. Maybe your TA is not too familiar with MSC. This kind of principle holds true for all service industries. If you're in the music industry you may know - I can't return tickets to a concert or I couldn't return a music CD once I opened it whether I liked the music on it or not.
  11. My sister drinks Moscato and could get it on the Easy Plus package.
  12. Smoking - cigarets, cigars, e-cigs are not allowed in cabins, balconies. They are only allowed in designated areas which are: Casino ( the only inside area on the ship) Deck 8 outside starboard side by the infinity pool, Deck 8 outside starboard side midship by loft cafe, Deck 19 outside by the Marina bar. They actually have very comfortable seats and ASHTRAYS for disposal. I know because my husband is a smoker and we were on the SEascape a month ago. Check MSC website.
  13. There is a thermal spa area on the Seascape. There are 2 steam rooms (different types), 2 saunas (lower heat and regular sauna), snow room and a salt room. There is also a large hydrotherapy whirlpool and a hot tub and several different types of showers. It is $ 130per week if you prepay. I really enjoyed it. The only thing that bothered me was that the towels were in the changing rooms and not in the thermal area.
  14. We were on the seascape in December. There was a lounge with a guitar player and then a threesome that played jazz. Another one of the lounges had a Unique variety show with a live band and music that you could dance to from Nat King Cole to Prince and a DJ after MN. The DJ had some techno but nothing that would be EDM. The third lounge also had a band but we didn't make it there. The line dancing and the theme parties were either in the atrium or by the pool. We only attended one of those.
  15. Sports bar has bar food but I'm not sure they serve on embarkation day.
  16. It's more expensive onboard. Daily pass onboard is $80
  17. We were on the Seascape a couple of weeks ago. The thermal area includes the steam rooms, saunas, salt room and the snow room along with a hyrdotherapy pool inside and a hot tub outside off the spa. The Thermal area is unisex with separate men and women changing rooms. Anyone in the YC, Aurea experience cabin and with a thermal pass can use the area. You must use the facilities with a bathing suit. Reservation is not required but recommended especially for those with a thermal pass. On day one, I reserved time every morning at 9:00 am and 5:30 pm on the 2 sea days. I loved it. On one of the days, I went early and there was not a problem at all. It helps to reserve so that they determine how full the thermal area is.
  18. You have to pay the whole price of the drink. Inside the YC though, it's been my experience that they will make you any drink regardless of the price of the drink and not charge you anything. When you go outside of the YC to other bars, you will have to pay full price for anything over $15
  19. We were on the Christmas Seascape Cruise. We waited for our number to be called and disembarked practically walking out of customs area. Disembarkation line gets backed up because customs officials are not as many and some passengers have to go through immigration which takes longer. So the line is very long. On our cruise, they halted calling numbers at #10 because many people either wanted to self disembark with multiple big suitcases or go down without their number being called to get out early. This caused a big line and chaos. Frustration at a high level since customs couldn't process people as quickly and of course those waiting on the ship were quick to blame MSC for this. We waited until our number was called, walked out, found out luggage, got a porter who asked if we had a US passport and he took us to the facial recognition customs station directly which didn't didn't have a line. We were out within minutes. I think the porters don't wait in the same line as the rest of the passengers.
  20. They give you a checkin time not a boarding time. You are given a number at checkin and board as your number is called. For the Christmas cruise my sister didn't board until 12:00 and her checkin time was 10:30.
  21. If you are with a group, you will be allowed to go in with them. If I may suggest - if all of you go at 2:00, there is a chance you will not wait at all. My sister has an embarkation time of 10:30 and we had 12:30. They waited for for 2 hours before they were able to embark. We arrived a little after 12:30 and practically walked in.
  22. We were on the Sescape for the Christmas Cruise in a Fantastica Balcony with a promotion of Easy + drink package and wifi. We booked it since it was almost 1/3 the cost of a RC Balcony cabin with a drink package. We have sailed with MSC before in YC and loved it. We don't use wifi during vacations so I don't know about that but the drink package worked well and the cabin was very nice. Christmas/NY cruises are going to be crazy busy - we've been on RC and NCL during those times. There will also be crowds and rude people. Two things were nice about this sailing: I didn't have to use the public restrooms for 2.5 days until the bathroom in our cabin got fixed (Oasis of the Seas) and the adult area rules were actually being enforced by a security crew member at the Infinity pool and the Thermal Spa Area. The bar service in the Infinity Bar and the Loft Cafe was perfect. The band in the loft and the shows in the cabaret were entertaining. We didn't have any problems with embarkation but the other couple we wer with did. Their checkin time was 10:30 am and they waited until after 12 before they could get on board. Our checkin time was 12:30pm, and we walked in. We didn't have any problems disembarkation either - people who were trying to get off the ship with 2-3 suitcases early created chaos and from what I understand a hostile line formed. I think people don't consider customs and immigration limitations. We disembarked a little after 11, got our suitcases and with porter's help went through facial recognition and got out. There were still waiting for customs and immigration. Two things that are bothersome: Buffet is the only free food available besides the MDR. NCL, RC and Carnival have alternatives. Not only that but the buffet was not open all the time. Entertainment - there are no Broadway shows, ice shows, aqua theatre etc. The singers are very good choreography still needs improvement, everyone is still getting used to working together. The theater shows need improvement. MDR service slow until we mentioned it - the service itself was actually good - we asked for a cheese plate in the beginning of the dinner with wine while waiting for dinner and it was ready every night for us. We are not foodies, we liked the food in the MDR, we ate breakfast and lunch in the MDR most often too since I don't believe no buffet is sanitary. We were happy, we enjoyed ourselves and we rebooked YC later in the year on Seascape.
  23. I would just say seasoned cruisers - doesn't matter what cruise line you take, if you are taking a holiday or a mid-summer cruise, you will have masses and have to either know how to handle them or not sweat the small stuff. As many inspections as the cruise lines have, I am not sure about the roach. I have been on the Meraviglia and aside from the crowds at the buffet, we really enjoyed it.
