Catching a 11:30 flight

Dh and I are surprising our daughter with a cruise on the Escape in February. We are able to get an excellent deal on a flight home on 2/13 at 11:30 am. Is this a possibility? If so any tips to make it easier? This flight would save us several hundred dollars but I'm nervous as we usually don't return home the same day.

Norwegian Escape sails from PortMiami.

An 11:30 flight out of MIA is doable. From FLL is much much tighter. And the check in and security lines on a weekend morning in February will be brutal. I would not risk flying any of the non-legacy budget carriers out of FLL before 12:30 or 1:00. AA/US from MIA has lots of check-in kiosks and plenty of other flights should you miss yours.

What about UA out of MIA? We have an 11:36 flight after debarking Splendor on Dec 13.

Shouldn't be a problem if you are cleared to disembark the normal time. UA departs from Concourse G which has the advantage of no long haul international flights. (You will see check-in counters for foreign carriers, but flights to Europe go thru security in Concourse F, to South America H or J)

There will be five ships in port that day, typical for a Saturday and this time of year.

i prefer a Noon flight as I don't like to stress about this.

For an 11:30 AM flight:

I would try to self disembark or be in the first group off the ship.

Plan to take a taxi.

Print out your boarding pass from the ship.

Thank you for the information. Normally I would book a flight the next day but we had a voucher that will cover all 4 of us on this flight saving a lot of money for other things. Plan on taking a taxi and have my boarding passes on the app.

You should be fine with an 1130 flight out of MIA.

You need to be at MIA by 1000, and earlier is better (TSA at MIA can be chaos).

With the taxi ride from POM taking about 15 minutes ($27+tip flat rate) as long as you are loaded into a taxi an rolling between 9-9:30 you should be fine.

Carrying your bags off will get you to MIA earlier, just in case ... (which is a good thing to do! ;))

Good luck! :)

If you do self disembark and grab a taxi I think you'll be just fine! Shoot, we have an 11:35 and we are leaving Port of Miami and catching a flight from FLL.

You can do it!!

That is nuts during peak season.

No way would I attempt this.

I had to pick my husband up at MIA on a Tuesday night at 11:30PM and it took me an hour and a half to get to MIA from Las Olas.

If I was asked about 11:35 I would never recommend it.

Too much risk.

Ship arrives later.

Immigration slow.

You are the lucky one and they go through your suitcases in customs.

Bad traffic.

This one comes down to how much risk/stress you are willing to take.

For me, I don't like stress so I would take a later flight.
