Sailing into Istanbul

Recommended Posts

You'll sail through the Dardanelles on the way to Istanbul. Thomsons give a talk on the war and it's really worth going to. You can quite easily see the monuments on the headland. Very interesting and moving. We were at Galipoli just as the sun set and it was absolutely beautiful.

Must admit that one of my best memories (probably a bit fictitious now) was sailing through the Sea of Marmara when there was a fog, then a great sunrise, and there was the first glimpse of Istanbul -magic!

Don't miss the sail trough the Dardanelles the evening before, when we were on there was a very moving commentary on deck about the Gallipolli campaign, its very moving - it was at around 7.00pm

yes agree...v moving ....should be more of these kind of commentaries during sailouts (instead of the 'dont forget to visit the shop to buy a watch' style announcements)
