AmativeDame Posted October 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) Question for you lovely people. I am cruising on Carnival in January and I found a dress in the back of my closet that I forgot about. Its white, with a crocheted overlay. Would this be suitable enough for carnival's formal night? Can I get away with it in white in January? I bought it when we were thinking of eloping so it feels so bridal like to me... but I think its because I knew what I bought it for. It was never marketed for bridal.. just a white summer dress. I was thinking of maybe trying to dye it (some shade of blue most likely) since I feel kind of hesitant about the color and it would save me having to put another pair of shoes to go with it. Would it work? Should I try to dye it or leave it as is? Edited to add: sorry about the typos in the title. Was posting on my mobile and aparently auto correct had some fun with me. cb at sea Posted October 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Where are you cruising? If the Caribbean, it's summer all year long....White is always fine!
luvscruising2007 Posted October 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2015 I would leave it white and accessorize with colorful jewelry. Pretty dress and looks comfy too.
AmativeDame Posted October 19, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Where are you cruising? If the Caribbean, it's summer all year long....White is always fine! Knew I forgot to mention something! It is a Caribbean so I figured it might be ok. I wasn't sure if it would be quite dressy enough and if I would stand out too much. Have no idea what I will put on my feet but I guess it will give me a excuse to go shopping!
Hoyaheel Posted October 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Have no idea what I will put on my feet but I guess it will give me a excuse to go shopping! I'm a fan of metallics (for me usually silver) as a neutral to go with any "odd" color clothing (eg not black or brown) I think metallic sandals would look lovely with that dress
KARTI1955 Posted October 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 20, 2015 The dress is gorgeous and perfect for formal night. I agree with silver for shoes. You will look great! Enjoy your cruise.
Rare Scrapnana Posted October 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2015 Don't dye it. You will look great in it for formal night.
ger_77 Posted October 24, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 24, 2015 Don't ruin it by dyeing it - it is a beautiful dress just as it is. If you want a splash of colour, use red or turquoise accessories. Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)
mousey Posted October 24, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 24, 2015 I totally agree with the other posters...leave it as it is and find yourself some pretty metallic sandals and you'll have the perfect outfit for a Caribbean cruise. Happy sailing!:D
NurseW2Kiddies Posted October 26, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Perfect. Leave it. I love it.
rdr525 Posted November 1, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 1, 2015 I would wear it as is. If you want color, add a stole or shoes in a bold color. I always wear white on caribbean cruises in Dec/Jan
nolatravelgirl Posted November 6, 2015 #13 Share Posted November 6, 2015 Carnival doesn't have a formal night, just a cruise "elegant" night which translates to something slightly above a shorts and flip flops. I think you will be perfectly dressed in this dress.
