Did anyone actually buy the program on that sliding scale? When did it change? Sorry if I missed it. I have never done Cheers but was looking forward to trying it next year when the 7-day under the other terms was $37.50 plus tax. Not sure now.

Ugh. Are you sure it went back up? Where did you see that. Soooo mad. We were going to try it for the first time when we board in a few weeks. UGH

I just started a different thread on the same topic probably at the same time this thread was started. Great minds think alike apparently. Anyway, from the Carnival site: CHEERS! Beverage Package

I just read about the new pricing on Carnival's website. I am disappointed that the per day rate went up. I was really looking forward to trying the program on my next cruise. It sure didn't take long for the rate to increase, did it? It seems like they just started the lower rates a couple months ago.

Just pulled this from their website's FAQ section. Ugh is right!

Prices are subject to change and price adjustments (up or down) implemented on the day of sailing will replace any previously advertised price.

This program can only be purchased on board; it is not available for purchase online or via telephone order. Guests can sign up for CHEERS! at the Atrium Bar, Casino Bar or the bar at the main pool area.

The lower rates had just started back in Aug. Wish they would make up their minds. This is getting stupid.

Well, that's that. Just ridiculous. This is going to be our LAST Carnival cruise. Not just because of this, but everything changes (it seems) CONSTANTLY.

Can you give me a few more examples of "EVERYTHING" that has changed. Also, I don't blame Carnival for trying the program and then evaluating the effectiveness towards their bottom line. I don't want my overall cruise rate to increase in place of an alcohol package that I would never consider purchasing (non-drinker). I'd rather Carnival pass along rate increases towards specific issues that might affect their bottom line instead of passing along the costs to EVERYONE.

Not sure if this is new or not but I thought 7+ day cruises was $37 a day. I just boarded the Breeze a few hours ago and it's 49.95. Having said that I still purchased it but was disappointed. It came to $919 for 2 after gratuity for an 8 night cruise.

Carnival has every right to implement, modify or change any policy but it would be good customer service to provide some kind of advance warning.

This is a pretty expensive proposition and people like to try to pre-plan the best deal for their budget. Carnival is a huge corporation and surely they can come up with a plan that is fair to themselves as well as their guests, which also includes some advance warning.

Personally, I liked the prices based on the length of the trip as opposed to the same rate for all cruises. Another thought, perhaps including the coffee drinks, as their sister company does, would also make it more appealing?

Mostly, I just don't think it was good customer service to surprise their guests this way as they boarded their ships. Not a good way to start that long awaited vacation.

Sure they can do whatever they want, but I think they should have done some projections to see if it would work in their favor. Not come up with a sliding scale that was less expensive for most of their sailings, and then change it back to the flat higher price. And for people with sailings so close to the change date, yeah they send emails about everything else. They could have sent a generic one to everyone about this just in case you were planning to purchase it.

It's true. I just boarded the carnival breeze today and it was 919 total for 2 people. I was very disappointed.

YIKES!!!:eek::eek:

Our total bill has NEVER even been this much. No way on God's green earth would we pay this for alcohol or any drinks for 8 days.

There is no way to call someone names in a respectful manner. This is totally uncalled for. Go read something else since you are a non-drinker this thread has nothing to do with you.

You're right, I'm sorry, (bad choice of words) but although I'm a non-drinker my DH loves his beer. I keep hoping the changes will actually include the fact it can be purchased individually instead of everyone in the cabin having to purchase. Also, as far as the 15 drink limit, I understand the break even point is way less than the 15. It does amaze me though how 15 drinks a day isn't enough for many people that are cruising.

So we certainly aren't big drinkers, but is anyone big enough for $57 a day? $115 for a couple sure seems like money well spent elsewhere. Obviously they know what they are doing, just wondering how many would spend $115!

I guess they feel with the "prices subject to change" they have themselves covered. Truthfully in reading a lot of the posts regarding this cheers topic it seems there are a whole (as respectfully said as possible) lot of lushes that go on cruises that have said things regarding the 15 drink limit not being enough, and how some were out of their drinks by dinner time...really? So, Carnival probably was losing a lot of money on the sliding price depending on length of the cruise.

I don't care about the 15 drink max. I would never reach it. I wanted to get the package just to have everything paid for. And I would be more inclined to try new drinks. I wanted to try it next year was because I know I wouldn't reach the limit and it was cheaper. Would have made alot of sense for someone like me. Not everyone is chasing the drink limit.
