Unlimited drinks on Norwegian Gem

OK, so I called NCL and got the scoop. The final bill WILL have every drink itemized. This is relatively new, thus the varying responses I got. Thanks for to all who chimed in.

Please come back after your cruise to let us know whether this really is a new policy. It wasn't my experience on the Gem 10 night cruise with the UBP Feb 27, 2015 nor on the Sky 3 night cruise on Aug 21, 2015. It should get really interesting if they do start itemizing the drinks since after checking our cards once, they ran up all 4 drinks on the same card most of the time on both the Gem and the Sky. Which makes it almost impossible to see if you actually got your money's worth or not since even if you collect all the bills in your name and add up just your drinks - there are still other drinks in other people's names. I think I may have come close on the 3 night cruise to breaking even but not even close on the 10 night cruise.

I personally don't want to know how many. I guarantee I get my money worth. Last trip in April it was free. I only had taxes for day one on the epic. The poor op being worried I feel bad as I would not want to be on vacation with someone monitoring me. Too many people worry about others judgement. It's been my experience that people the inhibit others good time get dodged and avoided.

This is a little funny in that it reminds me of my brother. A number of years back he calls me over to his to help him with a little problem. He's Mormon and was going to loan his computer to his FIL for a while. The problem was he wanted me to help him 'clean' his computer of all the porn that was in various folders as well as clearing cache/cookies, etc..LOL! While I could have cared less what my in laws thought of me when I was younger, I sure hope my daughters future beau cares enough to hide the stuff that would upset me..haha!

I agree 100% with others who have said you got the wrong information from the phone Rep & their Supervisor/Manager.

May I suggest that you have a drink or two on day one & then early on day two, go to Guest Services and request a print of your account. That way you'll know for sure what shows & what doesn't. You'll feel better knowing for sure you'r safe from prying eyes!

I am told that even with the unlimited drink package, you still need to sign for every drink. Does anyone know if they list everything you drank on your final bill even though it is included. My wife and are traveling with my mother in law who doesn't drink too much. We would like to indulge a bit on vacation but don't want her to know how much.

How would she know? is she going to check your account? it's unlimited enjoy yourself, your not driving, only time you can drink and not have to worry about finding somebody to drive you home lol

Yes you still have to sign for every drink, not sure if it shows up on your account( never checked) Tell Mom to chill out lol

Just got off the Pearl on August 23rd.

We had the UBP, booked it earlier on when the gratuities were included.

The only thing listed on our bill was for taxes for four drinks bought in Seattle prior to departure. Next to the taxes was the location the drink was bought at.

Example $1.26 Sky High Bar & Grill

Haha! No. I'm just amazed by people that seem to be amazed when things work the way they have always worked, when nothing different has ever been reported. It would be like me reporting back to say, "I verified that the ship will deliver bags to the cabin. I just wanted everyone to know that. You can all rest easy, now that you know it worked for me the way it works for everyone else."

If you called the 800 number and asked, you got the wrong answer. There will be no itemized list of your drinks on your final bill. The call center agents have never cruised (well maybe a few of them have), but they have no clue as to what happens to a guest on board the ship.

Even if they did list them, unless your MIL is paying for the cruise, she would not see your bill.

This is not my experience. The last (2) cruises I have taken, my cabin mate saw my bill on TV and I saw hers. We had separate charge accounts and our own charge cards on file.

I didn't/don't like it. I really am surprised I haven't read complaints about this.

My next cruise, I plan on rectifying this. There has to be a way to separate this. I may have to block mine to where I can't even see it. When you think about it, it's on your "public" television and not password protected, so not sure they can separate it for viewing.

You are right, technically I don't see a way to provide this functionality in the cabin, but then not allow anyone and everyone cabin to see it. So, yes, there maybe should be an option to turn off the functionality altogether.

Or they should change it so that the bar/casino/bingo charges are labeled something like "Acme Co., Inc." instead :p

LOL...it really has to do with casino w/d's and comps, much of which can be misinterpreted!
