What is the best way to see Peggy's cove..ship excursion, shore excursion or taxi with another couple or so. Trying to get away from the mobs. Is that unrealistic.? We are going in late September.

Is whale watching available in September? The hubby wants to know if seasickness is a problem. Is it better to whale watch in Halifax or Saint John's Bay of Fundy. Where are the best ports to see fall leaves? Anyone know of covered bridges tour? Thanks so much!! our port are Saint John, New Brunswick,Halifax Portland and Bar Harbor.

Whales in Bay of Fundy far beyond September, some of the best whalewatching in the world from St Andrews on the Sea near Saint John. Whale-watching from Halifax... don't bother, few & far between without a reeeeaaaalllllllyyyyyy long boat ride.

I've booked a car from Hertz for the day for early Sept. It is v near the port. Peggy's Cove seems easy enough to get to. We are the only ship in port that day and only 400 so shouldn't be busy from ships but I have read there are loads of bus tours in Sept /Oct that come to the area.

Do not whale watch from Halifax. From Saint John I don't know if you have enough time to get to St. Andrews and on a boat, get way out into the Bay of Fundy if that's where the whales are, then get back to the ship.

You really need to be on a land trip for this and many other things.

For Peggy's Cove, the fastest way there is by car, either with or without a driver according to what you want to pay. There will likely be many tour busses there.

We took a taxi at the dock. It costs $60 per hour (as it does at Sydney and PEI) so we asked for 3 hours to see Peggy's Cove and the Fairview (Titanic) cemetery.

That worked out fine for 6 of us, and we had around 45 minutes at Peggy's Cove, 30 at the cemetery. As it's so close (about half a mile) from Peggy's Cove we also asked for a quick look at the Swissair Memorial. All the best, Tony

We also did got a taxi van, it worked out well for our group (they could take 5 or 6 ppl) and gave us some local info while we drove. It allowed us to stop where we wanted and even do a quick bit of shopping on the way back to the ship.
